I thought the ending sucked. Didn't most people? And I just said it was the writing, not shipping that was the issue. There's something messed up about the main villain getting away with everything.

Shippers are kinda like horse race betters. Them "winning" means more than the story making sense. The messed up thing is I've seen fan comics that try to make Hinata a character instead of walking fanboy bait...and in those, her character actuslly works. Like, the writer realized something was not working, wrote a version of the story where it did work, and in that, I bought the romance. You can pair A with B instead of C but the writing has to be good. And anyone who says Naruto has good writing for its ending is someone who I question.

Can we talk about the meta nature of Jack only being allowed to kill robots was expertly handled? No one bats an eye at the robots, the censors nor the narrative. But then he finds out he killed a human. An actual living human. And at once, Jack's conscience and the expectations of the audience are challenged. Because blood isn't mature, the consequences of spilling it are.

One Piece never had that appeal. The designs, the plot, the characters were too goofy, and they clashed with the endless attempts at drama and waterworks.

One Piece is gone forever and the block is better off. It's never coming back, the average block viewer isn't watching, it's over.
