I’m not touching this with a ten foot poll.
So, Godzilla: Monster Planet drops tomorrow and the big opposition from Toonami is Space Dandy reruns.
Also a new Lupin III series was announced but after the tepid reception of Lupin: The Italian Job I don’t see DeMarco getting it.
Meanwhile Screamy McScreamington fails at ratings.
It didn’t happen yet.
But yeah, probably one part Dandy praise, one part Netflix bashing.
“Pfff! Devilman and Godzilla? Sure one became an instant phenomenon and the other’s iconic, but we have Dandy! That’s...way better. Seriously.”
I say it depends on cable trends as a whole. If Netflix keeps pulling anime wet dreams out of their asses and presents them to the public at large, giving them mainstream attention, Dandy reruns aren’t going to do jack.
Speaking of which, a damn Godzilla anime movie is debuting at the end of the month from the Urobutcher.
Black Clover is real soiler. Between it soiling the sheets, playoff football, and every single anime fan watching Devilman Crybaby on Netflix, it was a bad time.
I guess they thought the best idea was to fight boobs with boobs but got carried away with their newfound freedom (it was around that time context was loosened so they could say “shit” unbleeped.)
There’s a 70’s TV show that’s only really the base concept, two OVA’s, neither of which adapted the actual ending, and a crossover with Cyborg 009.
This is the first 1:1 adaptation of the manga, with elements updated for the modern day.
This also isn’t the first time this has happened. Remember when they wanted to air The Woman Called Fujiko Mine, BS&P said “lolnope” and they got stuck airing Champloo?
Meanwhile Netflix is airing Devilman Crybaby where whoever was animating it wanted to go full hentai at points.
That’s certainly the right way to describe Dandy. An experience. A very experimental show, which is probably why only half of the episodes really work.
