Sym-Bionic Titan is on Netflix because Netflix loves giant robots
Jman replied to Jman's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Boring AND with writers that were self confessed haters of mecha! To the point they told Bandai to piss off from merchandise because they wanted giant robots in the giant robot show. Titan really was several years too early, the tail end of Cartoon Network’s degeneration into endless TT Go marathons. If it had the power of streaming, it would have been a much different story. -
schedule Toonami Shows Ending in Early 2020
Jman replied to OwlChemist81's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
I still want to see Star Blazers/Yamato on a bigger platform than FUNiNow be it Toonami or Netflix. It is the space opera remake America deserves (yeah fuck you Voltron). And considering a Part III is coming out, there’s a lot of episodes if they go that route. -
will you be watching both marathons for Xmas And New Years?
Jman replied to CountFrylock's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
I don’t see why. -
They’re going for more subdued in this first trailer. I get it completely.

The 80’s are the go to nostalgia decade. Even the mall gives off Stranger Things vibes.

Haven’t heard MC Chris in years...

I’m sure the fact that WarnerMedia is going to make them part of HBO Max means they’re in trouble, not that they’re probably going to invest even more in them.

In their defense The Origin is literally airing EVERYWHERE ELSE but without a new non-Build Fighters series there’s a distinct lack of mecha via outlets Toonami can actually get. They can’t do what Netflix does and go “Hey, Dragon Prince’s creator is a sexist. Take his money and make a new Getter Robo.”

Hazbin Hotel - Hell is getting interest in your animated pilot

The writer apparently confirmed it in a Q&A after the premiere. -

I’ll say that if Hazbin feels way too Tumblriffic for any normal audience to get invested in (see also: Tuca and Bertie, Voltron Legendary Defender, She-Ra) then Helluva Boss feels like that concept after a round of executive notes to make a more palatable product for the masses that watch Big Mouth and Seven Deadly Sins. It has Zim’s VA, the humor is decidedly cruder, the one song is an ad jingle that’s a joke both in and out of universe, and it’s shorter (and therefore likely cheaper). Interestingly, Helluva Boss also has its main relationship being a man and a woman who are both co-workers, while the Hazbin notes have the princess being a bisexual in a relationship with her female assistant. Helluva Boss probably has more of a chance to actually get greenlit. A slim chance, but it’s better than a guaranteed spot in Korgoth hell which is where Hazbin is destined to end up. -
Nice. Edit - New producer Jennifer Yuh Nelson. Hoo boy. The whole thing is supposed to be Heavy Metal reboot but it looks like the complainers might tone it down.

For reasons that baffle me, no version of the original series is available for streaming, not even the movie trilogy, and no one wants to adapt the actual Origin manga which is a remake of the original series. My only guess is that the live action movie, if it ever gets made, will be an adaptation of The Origin, meaning...probably Tom Holland as Amuro.

Cartoon Network President Christina Miller to step down
Jman replied to Jman's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Honestly depends on if the new president is willing to use the new resources available from the restructuring, or is content to air nothing but Teen Titans Go all day, along with a once a month batch of Steven Universe episodes like Miller mostly did. -
