  3. Like I said, something about this show just irks me, and the idea that it’s better than One Punch Man?
  4. It’s weird because I friggin love superhero stories in a lot of contexts. Justice League and JLU are iconic Toonami shows and I adore pretty much all the DCAU stuff, I love OPM, and I’ve mentioned my fondness for the MCU. I mean I bought the Gatchaman boxset just for that amazing Alex Ross artwork. But something about this setup just grinds my gears, lending itself more to that anti hero opposite corrupt douchebag “heroes”.
  5. Well actually, because this is literally the plot of Garth Ennis’ The Boys, one of the biggest anti superhero screeds of all time. This is the origin of Billy Butcher, and he would kill all the superheroes. That’s the point.
  6. Yeah, this comic exists already in several forms. Marshal Law, The Boys, hell, Tiger and Bunny’s big theme is how corporate interests clash with altruism and the ensuing result. Except all those make more sense. I mean, even at its core, OPM is a satire of bureaucracy, how the most qualified person doesn’t get to do the job or get credit for it because of administrative red tape. All those stories stick the landing.
  7. Yeah, sure. Tiger and Bunny. One Punch Man. Sunred. Gatchaman, etc. But this setup is all wrong. This is a setup that produces a villain or an anti-hero, not a hero. Deku lives in a world of mutants and gets bullied by them. He’s the kid that grows up to develop Sentinels! He joins a team of CIA backed normal people to keep the superheroes in check until they’re all blown away by the military with depleted uranium ammo. He’s the trained law enforcement super cop that finds vigilantes silly at best, disgusting perverts at worst. This setup is wrong.
  8. It’s one thing to talk about the show on its own. But comparing it to One Punch Man creates the OTHER well know comic book cliche, people fighting over Marvel and DC. I’ll admit, that’s what set me off. OPM is clearly Marvel in this case.
  9. If by better mochi means “MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH FUCKING WORSE with none of the charm or humor or ANYTHING REDEEMABLE” than yes.
  10. ONE PUNCH MAN IS WAY BETTER THAN THIS HORSESHIT. Sorry, but I saw someone say this was better and my immediate reply was to tell that person, fucking no.
  11. The alternative would have been this, which sounds more interesting.
  12. I remember why I hated this show now. Because the far more interesting plot is Deku becoming someone like Marshal Law or Judge Dredd. A non-powered hero with guns and tech to deal with heroes that are rampant, hypocritical assholes. This is a story about folks with powers bullying folks without them. In those stories, the human brain closes the gap. That’s why Batman is so popular.
  13. Space Battleship Yamato/Star Blazers 2199 26 9/10. Now to wait for next week and 2202 to start. Megalo Box 5 DeMarco is probably begging someone to dub this. Injecting a boxing story with a heavy dose of Cowboy Bebop will do that.
  14. Here’s an utter shock - The first two episodes are available for free (the rest sadly require a YT Red subscription...legally anyway) but, it’s actually pretty good. Positive reviews across the board.
  15. Those things ARE frequent in the novels because Tomino is a goddamn pervert at times. If any version of The Origin got off the ground odds are it would include all the sex from the novel trilogy. Then again (true story) Tomino is a guy who, when a magazine published nude art of Sayala from 0079, called said magazine to POINT OUT EVERY DETAIL OF HER UNMENTIONABLES THEY GOT WRONG. He seriously did that.
  16. ...Is everyone alright?
  17. Well the whole thing is on VRV, FUNi, Hulu, and Crunchyroll. ...I should get started again. See how far I get this time.
  18. I’m gonna laugh so hard if MHA gets lumped in with Screamy McScreamington and flops. At that point, AIR MEGALO BOX. Well...once someone dubs the damn thing.
  19. The kid. All shounen heroes on Toonami tend to be dumbasses. It’s why Megalo Box is so awesome.
  20. Wait, so Season 2 is our idiot hero against The Boys? How do they screw it up?
  21. According to a wiki, the main villain is essentially Billy Butcher from The Boys. A hero hating hard man who thinks heroes are a crock of shit. Any truth to that?
