And then they have to add in all sorts of interactive assets, also that’s hardly always the case. It’s just weird that the technology for a lot of these companies produces stuff that is easily viewed as inferior, then you get Dragonball stuff (or Arc System Works items in general) where one needs to really squint to tell the difference. Case in point - Dragon Prince trailer - And some FighterZ footage -

2.5D animation sucks for a lot of people. Especially you Dragon Prince. Once in a while you get something good like Land of the Lustrious but for the most part you get stuff that looks...off. The sole exception seems to be stuff involving Dragonball. FighterZ, using the proprietary Arc System Works engine is well known for how good it looks, but Bandai is now making an adventure game, and their demonstration of the visuals was a remake of the old opening - Looks pretty good compared to Dragon Prince, right? Why is this the only thing they can get it right with consistently?

This is the issue watching stuff on cable. It’s not going to change given the format.

From everything I’m hearing, the film goes out of its way to take a dump on TLJ. Which...good, but it probably explains why critics hate it. “Where’s Rose? How dare you kowtow?”

Here I thought you’d be happy with it, since the film allegedly goes out of its way to shit on TLJ.

The whole idea is that it’s supposed to get you hyped for the show. I get airtime restrictions but that’s another argument for On Demand. I mean, Star Blazers 2199 works just a bit better because of its opening -

Boring AND with writers that were self confessed haters of mecha! To the point they told Bandai to piss off from merchandise because they wanted giant robots in the giant robot show. Titan really was several years too early, the tail end of Cartoon Network’s degeneration into endless TT Go marathons. If it had the power of streaming, it would have been a much different story.

I still want to see Star Blazers/Yamato on a bigger platform than FUNiNow be it Toonami or Netflix. It is the space opera remake America deserves (yeah fuck you Voltron). And considering a Part III is coming out, there’s a lot of episodes if they go that route.

I got RE2 during the PSN Black Friday sale. That game apparently went over really well, so if this is good, the tired and true strategy of “wait 6 months till it’s on sale” should hold fast.

There was stuff going on literally all day. Afternoon was Joshua/Ruiz II, then two college football championship games, then a live UFC on ESPN that ended with one of the year’s more brutal knockouts. At least MHA is doing what it can, given its availability elsewhere.

They’re going for more subdued in this first trailer. I get it completely.

The 80’s are the go to nostalgia decade. Even the mall gives off Stranger Things vibes.

On a similar note, last night’s South Park was about a diehard supporter of basic cable who hates streaming services and that no one gathers around a schedule anymore. Basically DeMarco.

The good news is that Joshua/Ruiz II will be in the afternoon thanks to Saudi money. That being said, the evening UFC is a free card on regular ESPN (meaning most bars and restaurants with TV will show it) with a heavyweight main event. That’s gonna do some damage.

In their defense The Origin is literally airing EVERYWHERE ELSE but without a new non-Build Fighters series there’s a distinct lack of mecha via outlets Toonami can actually get. They can’t do what Netflix does and go “Hey, Dragon Prince’s creator is a sexist. Take his money and make a new Getter Robo.”
