Playing Elden Ring...but probably not for much longer. At the halfway point of the game, and people have specifically, SPECIFICALLY warned about this, the game goes from punishing but fair to a complete fucking slog that is just unfair on so many levels. It's not about "gitting gud", it's not about reflexes, it's about the fact that every fucking enemy WILL kill you in one shot and you have no recourse whatsoever. Most Souls game, and arguably the beauty of the genre, is that they are punishing but what makes them work is that everyone, friend and foe alike, plays by the same rules. Elden Ring, YOU'RE made of tissue paper, but everyone else has insane tanking damage and will kill you if you fuck up even slightly. I've been comparing it to my job hunt, which is a clear signal that as pretty as looks and as fun as the first half of the game was, continuing to play it will only cause me ulcers and want to punch my neighbors.

He’s bragged about hiding the shit in offshore accounts. On the plus side, InfoWars can’t make any more money without being scrutinized for the tax and most banks won’t want to take his new money, effectively ending his ability to make a living off of lying.

Elden Ring. I hit the halfway point,

I think I get the idea. They essentially get to have two break down the door premieres, one for the show itself, one for the dub. So how long before someone inevitably gets the brilliant idea to try and make this a LA film or show?

Just watch it. We KNOW Toonami won’t air it.

Burning your camper to own the libs.

Huh. I thought hearing the dub at NYCC meant it was ready. My bad.

It did. It’s a simuldub.

Great. In case CR’s servers buckle, there’s a backup.

Yeah, it means something much worse there. Which is funny considering Kojima’s endorsement got people to look at Cyber City ODO of all things (he name dropped it after reviewing Cyberpunk Edgerunners). On an unrelated note - Shin Ultraman is a pretty good film and hopefully they can secure a wider release, or at least a Netflix airing (Netflix is making their own original animated Ultraman movie on top of the anime but it’s the classic kaiju fighting Ultra). Now back to laughing at DeMarco and wondering how many other IP holders laughed in his face when he said he wanted to make a Toonami anime.

The scale of the insult that otaku is tends to vary a lot. Random example - The director of Shin Ultraman came to NYC for the Asian American Film Festival, and described it as a dream project. He IMMEDIATELY shut down the idea he was an otaku during a Q&A, because you know, he goes out in public (such as going to the Big Apple to watch his movie be the most popular thing at the festival by a country mile) and showers.

Kojima is a cinephile, and one look at his “cast” for Metal Gear 2 on the MSX would make that clear. It’s actually why I wouldn’t mind a good Metal Gear movie if it was based on 2 (which the latest script was before it descending into the pits of development hell and infighting). But being called an otaku by Kojima is such an L I am completely unsurprised that DeMarco killed him off in a horror coproduction by proxy.

Over the weekend - Chainsaw Man 1 and Bleach Thousand Year Blood War 1. OK, I’m following.

The panel for it didn’t mention a peep about Toonami (but neither did Bleach’s) which has me thinking the show may be done on Toonami. -
Shin Ultraman - 8.5/10 - A really solid film whose main strength and weakness is the feeling that it’s three TV show episodes taped together, which I think is kind of the point. It’s also the second part of Anno’s thematic Shin trilogy, which if Shin Godzilla is about man’s powerlessness before nature, this is about man’s attempt to work through that powerlessness and achieve something greater. Between Shin Godzilla and this, I can’t wait for Shin Kamen Rider (which I presume Crunchyroll will distribute).
