First electronic game evah was Pong for Atari way back in the 70's played at a neighbor's house. First NES game was the Super Mario / Duck Hunt combo cartridge played at a neighbor's house. First game owned was a tie because I got them at the same time as I got the GameBoy Original - The Legend of Zelda : Link's Awakening and Super Mario Land.

I've kept small baby kittens and bunnies in my cleavage to warm them. Not me but close enough. Bitchcakes really was about that size when I got her and she was fighting a respiratory sickness. She needed warmths.

For those of you who might be currently sans job due to your place of employment being on a forced shut-down, a potential suggestion. Grocery stores are allowed to stay open during this. They are super stretched for employees right now. They can't keep up with the demands to keep the shelves stocked even if the stuff is waiting in their back warehouse and they can't keep up with the expected sanitation needs. In other words, they are hiring. They need people during this particular problem and won't once the problem has come back under control. So, consider checking out your local grocery stores to see if they are hiring part-timers with the expected flexibility that if your old place re-opens, you can go there without any sort of two week notice. It might not be the paycheck you had before but at least it would still be a regular paycheck.

Since there was a question about the possibility of some sort of game for people to do while awaiting their fates, two threads are now activated for people to destroy in their creative boredom. I put one in DF because this could get ugly. >.<
-
...because boredom is a helluva drug and most of us are way too high on it right now. Here is Henry Rollins. All his sharpie tattoos have been abducted by aliens or something. Your mission, should you chose to accept it, is to give this guy some ink-time fun. Please note, I know what kind of weirdos populate this place so there is a twin thread of this in DF for your dark side to destroy. So try to keep this one 'search appropriate' . Discuss!...

For the most part, I think anyone in NY, CA, and IL are supposed to stay home unless they work some place essential. No one here has reported that they personally have the virus yet so the state-wide lockdowns are currently close enough to real time quarantine. I'm fine with this 'pseudo' quarantine at the state levels. I'd rather all the users here be healthy but bored because they are stuck at home than actually sick in a mandatory quarantine. Yes, even the stupid users. They know who they are.

Such a little cutie bird. He's all like 'You want a piece of this? All 1 oz. of me will mess you up right here, right now.' Probably an early fledgling - some of them fly like little lead balloons with built-in window magnets attached to their heads. You did the best thing. It's the cold of the ground that usually takes them out in shock if they survive the window so getting them off the ground and some place 'peaceful' usually does the trick. In the fall, I usually end up picking up little migrating birds off the sidewalks in the morning and hold them until they warm up and can fly again. It's fun.

Every place that is still opens smells like hospital now. I'm about to PTSD and start throwing things. -
I've been threatening to wear the catsuit to work since this whole thing started to really hit the fan. So far the answer has been 'nope' . I'll let y'all know if that changes because if it does, we are all seriously arf'd.

No fears, dude. I wasn't jumping at you, I was just venting for the sake of venting.

There is no such thing as an adequate bailout for something like this. The bigger places and those that could afford to buy favor with politicians will get first and choices dibs on everything, then corporate heads of smaller businesses, maybe with a little trickle down to the people who actually do all the work at the floor level, and then the smaller personal businesses will get little 'gift baskets' of things they can attempt to apply for while their bills keep adding up. I wish I was being sarcastic or hyperbolistic about that but I'm not. Some companies, both big and small, will be able to weather the losses and maybe roll it into some extra tax credit crap and just have a crappy year on the books. Some might end up dying in debt though. I worry about my favorite Asian grocery place - I've watched them grow it from the a crowded front end of a tear-down building to a fully stocked import grocery store complete with fresh crab and lobster tanks. She's put everything she's made into rebuilding that place and making sure it's stocked up for the various ethnic communities that can't get their old favorites anywhere else. This is a place that I'm honestly thinking about making a run to tomorrow if there is no shelter in place rule in-acted tonight and just buying some stuff to help her out. Dried squid lasts forever anyway, right? More hours cut for next week. Hours are also being chopped all to hell for the following week too since we are working on the presumption that things will still be open / left to the discretion of various businesses. I went from 40 to 30 for next week. I cut my own hours for yesterday and today so that payroll could be used to keep a couple of part-timers on schedule for tomorrow at least instead of cutting them loose. -.-; I have between 8-10 weeks worth of PPTO + vacation saved up but... a lot of people at the store either don't have that saved up or they've already burned through some due to family or personal illnesses. We already have some doing food exchanges so that people have things like meat in their freezers. I'm making beef stew this weekend and freezing it - if someone needs something extra, one container = 3 meals. I also still have some chicken-in-a-pot frozen as well.

I think I found a drummer if I ever form a band.
-
Currently yes, my store is still open. We're watching the situation but going through business as usual for at least a sense of normalecy. But reworking next week's schedule with all the cuts to peoples' hours was brutal and horrible. Everyone there needs a paycheck. Hopefully that's the only week we have to do this sort of massive gutting. Unless the entire state says shut it down for x amount of time. That will be a whole different set of forms to deal with. -.-;
-
I'd say this is great for all those people who every year resolve that they are going to eat better and lose weight. But then I see the people leaving the grocery store with carts full of pop, chips and frozen pizzas...and tp.

They've been in my building TWICE in the past 7 days. The doors are supposed to be security locked at all times but some chuckle-nut is either propping a door open for their idiot friends or letting them in directly.

That's one of the reasons I try to space out my manga reading by alternating with other books. I could blow through 100 mangas in a month easily but then I'd have all these other books staring at me sadly because I ignored them. -
Looks like you've cornered the market on brussel sprouts... <.< >.>

Is it social distancing, convenience or sheer laziness

I'm so glad I picked up a pint at the store the other day otherwise this thread would cause rages. Signs went up on the doors of the apartment building yesterday. I don't think any delivery people will be delivering into the building for awhile out of general caution. -.-; -
