  1. So now that Elfie has left the boards (again), I guess I can safely say that I really never cared for the "Goo jah!" meme. Why should I be congratulated for a thread that I never spend more than a few minutes on at a time working on? It felt stupid and autistic... an even more autistic habit than most stuff I do myself. All it ever did was waste bandwidth.
  2. But does anyone actually want subtitled shows on Toonami? I don't know why in the fuck I should stay up until 2:00 a.m. to watch subtitled Sword Art Online, because I'm too tired to read all those lines of subtitles by then. Have the characters' lines be in English, please. Toonami has already done a lot for causing dubs of anime to come out faster in America, so I think they should use their powers to get as quick of a dub as they possibly can. Even if you try to attract the weeb audience, they would rather go the piracy route, or maybe watch on Crunchyroll if they can afford it. On top of this, Toonami branching out into new genres has more to do with the changing times. They can't get as many action shows as they used to, so this is their way to combat it, and much of the audience is accepting. Of course, they can also make completely new action shows that are in English to begin with. I don't think airing subs is a valid replacement for this. Basically, if you looked at the April Fools' gag and came to the conclusion that Toonami should air more subtitled shows, your brain is hopelessly broken in ways I can't even begin to describe.
  3. Probably, although it does imply that DeMarco inked a deal for more AoT several months before its actual premiere, which would be impressive. At this point, I think it's genuinely possible for S3 to replace FLCL Progressive and premiere a full week before it does Japan. At any rate, it's probably at least getting a same-week dubbed airing.
  4. No. An extremely hard and fast no. They specifically did that on April Fools' Day because they knew it would probably be the only time they ever aired subtitled anime. I don't think DeMarco's opinion on that has changed.
  5. I think it was @brianycpht who speculated on Twitter that My Hero Academia and Pop Team Epic, both shows from Funi, were obtained in a package deal, if only because DeMarco mentioned them both (albeit through obtuse monikers) in the same tweet. This theory will be further boosted if the "in the pocket" show is also a Funimation property.
  6. That one was on [adult swim action].
  7. The first episode has references to slightly more mainstream stuff, like your name. and Kemono Friends. I'm not sure if the viewing public who isn't into much anime will appreciate those. Also, Hoshiiro Girldrop is an affectionate parody of pretty much every idol show that has ever existed, with a little bit of Hannah Montana mixed in. No, really! I wish the promo they did for the show had featured some kind of fake-out involving that show; I blame the lack of actual animation for it. Most of the material of the parody you see are in the next-episode previews, and they're just still frames, so it would've been difficult to make anything meaningful out of them.
  8. Getting back to the reason this thread was made... yeah, Darling in the Frankxx probably shouldn't be on Toonami. The audience will consider it a trainwreck the likes of which Toonami hasn't seen since the last SAO season ended.
  9. Girls' Last Tour #6 Magical Girl Ore #12 (END)
  10. You know, I only watched two episodes live this week (of MHA and FLCL Progressive), so maybe I'm dragging the ratings down by staying for longer, like when Poke does it at all?
  11. People apparently wanted to pay their respects to the second longest-running Toonami show. The finale should also get good numbers, if only because DirecTV viewers won't be locked out of watching it like with Bleach. I'm curious to see where DB Super goes from here. The Universe Survival arc is considered the worst part of the show (excepting the movie recaps, of course) by dedicated fans, but it's also the most popular one. For better or worse, it made Dragon Ball a worldwide phenomenon again. Jman's comments about the final episodes being shown in Mexican bars are really all you need to hear, but for what it's worth, I heard some people talking about it in my college chemistry class. Of course, we still have a few episodes of comedic filler to get through once Future Trunks' story is wrapped up, with all the Dr. Slump references and Vegeta-bashing they'll unleash. On the other hand, these are apparently genuinely funny, so even I won't be sleeping on them.
  12. Is this scandal still going on? I thought it wrapped up weeks ago and nobody bothered to say anything. I have a MAL account, but I've hardly ever used it. It's always annoyed me that they only use the romanized Japanese titles for most shows.
  13. Well, fair enough, but when the Toonami run gets to Hellshake Yano, all of the haters are going to eat their words.
  14. Well, if you didn't like the show, there's nothing else I'll say. On the other hand, I liked PPTP, but my biggest complaint was actually that it wasn't surreal enough. They should've swung for the fences and had different people do a segment every episode, rather than just the Space Cat Company. Their shorts got somewhat predictable by the end. Of course, none of this ultimately matters, considering that the show doesn't give a fuck about what you think of it. It's basically so stooped in trolling that you can pass off anything you don't like by essentially claiming that you're not supposed to. Popuko and Pipimi work in strange ways.
  15. Now, seriously: who didn't see this coming? Maybe not OwlChemist, because this means FLCL Progressive will air in the 11:00 hour.
  16. Well, that's one way to go about it. At least some of the episodes are explicitly designed to put you to sleep.
  17. Have you watched Joe Pera Talks With You? I think it's amazing; the most banal kind of show possible, almost like a slice-of-life anime, is exactly what this network needed. It feels like a direct rebuke of Million Dollar Extreme, and all the other shows that use trolling and political references as their source of humor. Of course, that's not always a bad thing, but anything that gets away from it is something I'll at least try.
  18. This speaks a lot to my dissatisfaction with the block, although it has gotten better in recent months with the addition of My Hero Academia and new FLCL finally airing. Still, those are a long-running show and a glorified sequel, respectively. The only stand-alone premieres they've aired since the start of 2017 are Tokyo Ghoul and Black Clover, and the latter is a long-running show anyway. At least Part 4 of Lupin is only a sequel in name, and you can follow it regardless of your knowledge of the franchise; I speak from experience here. For as much as I wanted to harp on those people fearmongering (especially Colt, from Twitter) that Toonami would become nothing but long-running shonen by this point, I have to admit that they were completely right in the end. Hopefully, DBZ Kai will either leave or not rerun before 2:00A when its premiere run ends, and that should help out the ratings a bit. JoJo's still has two months to go, but when Diamond is Unbreakable starts airing (because you know it will), it has a much different plot and doesn't lean on the previous three parts too much, so maybe it'll attract new viewers. And in general, Toonami could still use a completely new, non-shonen show to draw some eyeballs, but I'm hopeful the crew will get one in the second half of the year. [say yes to narehates]
  19. The thing is, the ratings chat has become this way by design, now that we know the ratings are largely pointless in the grand scheme of things. But then you have people twisting the numbers around to promote their own agendas, as well as others who don't know any better using it to spread fear and paranoia. I don't think a new thread is going to fix these issues at all.
  20. How timely of you. Mr. Osomatsu #24 and #25 Megalo Box #10 Magical Girl Ore #11 Kakegurui #6
  21. Uh... okay. This wasn't required, although I appreciate the attempt to keep some decorum. This also solves my other problem of numbering the threads.
  22. Eh... upon further review, I guess the band itself capitalizes their name in some official material, as seen in this post. It's still not required, though.
  23. Okay, now you're just parroting my talking points. And as a side note, the name Yes is never supposed to be capitalized, although I guess you can do so if you really want.
  24. ...I genuinely hate this thread now. I'm not sure if I'm ever going to even look at it again. Also, before I leave, can we please rename it so that it doesn't have "You are on a new board"? We've been on it for over a year and a half. It doesn't need to be numbered, either, since a thread can now have infinite replies. Stop sucking so much.
