  1. Yeah, this is far from the best the UEMB has to offer. It's a big step up from anything hosted by [adult swim], though.

  3. On the contrary, I think classic texting abbreviations are a sign of intelligence, even when used unironically.
  4. I guess I must be the only person who rates all of their shows as uncut. Personally, if I were to run my own TV network for some reason, nothing would be edited. I would make sure to put on some great shows with interesting ratings, though. It helps that there's little profanity in most anime, regardless of if they're dubbed or subbed, and there usually aren't many nipples actually drawn The iDOLM@STER Episode 23: "ME"
  5. For what it's worth, you can block whoever you even have mild disagreement with. About Megalo Box, it's only being streamed by Crunchyroll. Coincidentally, shows with that distinction tend to see delays with being dubbed. Re:Zero came out all the way back in Spring 2016 and is only getting a home video release soon. The benchmark seems to be two years on average, and therefore, I don't think we're going to see this get dubbed for a while. Maybe in early 2020, you can talk to CR about it.

  7. Man, it feels like it's been a while since a JoJo's episode totally enthralled me, but that rambling, gambling episode did the trick. It was quite hilarious to see that the entire confrontation with D'Arby happened in a packed cafe with lots of people watching. It's especially weird considering that Stands are only visible to other Stand users, so how the hell did Polnareff and Jotaro's souls coming out of their bodies and being molded into poker chip-shaped pizza dough by Osiris appear to the passerby in there? I also just realized this not long ago, but the cafe they were in somewhat resembled the Lemon Beach House, at least to me. I guess that fits the mold of people treating Squid Girl's appearance as being completely normal.
  8. It depends. I've seen some anime, albeit mostly stuff like Hand Shakers, be given craptastic scores. It probably depends on the reviewer; at least for an established franchise like Tokyo Ghoul, you can grab someone who liked the previous seasons, and thus are more likely to give it a good score. Now, it's probably not a good idea to try and contradict the majority opinion with one review (if it is that way), but considering that I previously railed against OwlChemist for doing that, I guess I just wanted to be a hypocrite. Regarding GGO Alternative, the fact that there is no death game is one of its biggest selling points. The plot is nowhere near as dramatic, but I think the protagonist discovering herself through this VRMMO with guns makes for just as entertaining of a show.
  9. It's a new season vs. a rerun of the original. I thought FLCL Progressive was going to snap back to the original timeslot when it was ready, so it's nice to get some confirmation that it will not.
  10. I guess it took until just now to be confirmed, which is a little suspect.
  11. I don't think that's an issue anymore. Funi has consistently raised the bar when it comes to simuldubs and not letting logistics get in the way. They were able to bring back the entire main cast of Full Metal Panic! for the new season, including one actor (Hilary Haag) who works primarily for Sentai. And they did the AoT S2 dub that fast despite having actors from California involved. At the very least, they could just ring up those actors and try to schedule tentative recording sessions for several months in advance. That can't be too hard.
  12. So we have a premiere date for more Attack on Titan: July 22. This is a little later than I was expecting, and it's also on a Sunday, which locks Toonami out of airing a same-day simuldub. Of course, will Funimation actually do one for this series? I'm not sure, but if the goal is to try and do the same for all the extremely popular franchises they have (My Hero Academia and Tokyo Ghoul), it's in the realm of possibility. I just don't know if Toonami would mind airing it on a delay. There's still no easy place it can air even with the new date, so I'm guessing they'd just expand to 10:00 p.m. for it. And FLCL Progressive should be rerunning by then, so they'd have absolute authority to jigger with the block however they want.
  13. Is TG;re actually that bad? I watched the first episode and somehow didn't hate it. There were a couple of new characters introduced, but the show actually had the foresight to list their full names at the same time. That probably makes thing slightly easier to follow, although you'll probably forget someone over time due to just how many there are. For what it's worth, the ANN reviewer gave the first three episodes a collective B+, and the most recent got a B-, although their assessment wasn't strictly negative. They just thought it was too complex, and not a good episode when watching the show on a weekly basis.
  14. The ratings are probably just stabilising after a chaotic couple of weeks with preemptions. In other words, this is pretty okay. Moving Black Clover down another slot after less than a month is not a good look, so I wonder if maybe the Toonami crew didn't want it on that late but were overridden by the high court of schedulers. Either that, or Viz was peeved at HxH being moved later.

  16. Maybe... they've already done topicals for streaming shows in general with both One-Punch Man and Dragon Ball Super itself. Having a dub available may not matter. If you ask me, they should actually get rid of the DBS spots entirely and just rerun the Future Trunks arc promo every so often. I think it's too much of a strain on them, especially with the dub not being available every week.
  17. But "stop trying to make Black Clover a thing" still can be.
  18. Yeah, that was weird. The official schedule on [adult swim]'s website didn't even show it, but the backdoor did. On a related note, I actually think they've changed the way the backdoor works, since they did not post schedule data for a whole week after the 28th, but then they put the entire week down, and now it goes up to the 6th. Maybe this is how DeMarco combats people nagging him about blank spots in the schedule: with more staggered releases. So, with the S-bomb, it should've been 14DLS, if the S is neccessary at all. I didn't think so, although I wasn't paying as much attention to the episode. I was too busy having this strange neurotic process caused by me taking Adderall and a little bit of Monster Energy at the same time. At least it made me think... but then it was hard for me to do anything else.
  19. Actually, after Polnareff de-aged into a 4-year-old, I thought she started to sound like Nico Yazawa. To most, this would make it even funnier.

  21. Yeah... seemingly every time there's been an attempt to bring anime to American TV that isn't Toonami, it's a non-starter. At least Mnet America actually ran all of the first Love Live! series, albeit in the most quixotic manner possible.
  22. Why the hell was there no announcement for MHA before? Man, you people all need to step up your game. But on the plus side, at least there's isn't a janky "top ten" feature that often has whatever Toonami announcement just happened at #1.
  23. It would kind of suck to move DBZ Kai down to midnight for its last three episodes. Even if The Final Chapters hasn't been as well received as the original, I still want it to have a good denouement. Still, unlike with Bleach, everyone should be able to watch the finale regardless of their cable provider. I agree with Moltar's theorizing, but it doesn't take Attack on Titan S3 into account. They're going to be forced to do some funky things with the schedule if they want to air it. For one thing, the first episode of a same-day simuldub would likely air on July 7, which is also a likely marathon date. They would have to either run the normal schedule up to a certain point, or just play the first new AoT episode by itself at the very beginning of the block and have a marathon take up everything else. And if the former schedule includes FLCL Progressive, that means they could air all six episodes in a row, but then it would upset the balance of airing a rerun of it because there would be an empty slot after it reruns for six weeks. In other words, a total mess! The only "easy" solution would be to expand the block to 10:00 for AoT, and they may very well go for it. But I'm also not sure if Jason is comfortable with the block running six hours or more again. Heck, it probably wouldn't hurt Toonami to be shorter right now.
  24. Now this is pretty cool. I never had a gut feeling that MHA would air on Toonami, but I didn't know of anything that would disqualify it. I mean, if Tokyo Ghoul can air on Toonami several years after it was relevant, pretty much any show has a shot. All that's left to wonder is if it'll be in two or three years or right now. Some people will complain that this is yet another shonen (possibly because they can't find joy in anything), but at least it's a genuinely good one. And it won a bunch of honors at Crunchyroll's awards show, which probably speaks more to its overall popularity, but I bet a lot of people watched this anime and thought it had something special baked in. Let's do this.
