It's a mildly entertaining account, but I'm not a fan of how it started up. Basically, the Toonami Faithful account did a meme/shitpost with a reference to SAO that was basically grasping at straws, some people got mad at that, and the solution was to divvy all non-serious content into alternate accounts. Nobody seemed to realize that the continuous tradition of shoving Sword Art in our faces and praising it constantly was the real problem. Alas, what people really need to do is stop injecting an agenda into everything and enjoy the shows for what they are.

It's more the realization that combining large amounts of caffeine and ADHD medicine (I take Vyvanse) is probably not healthy and killing me in some small way, even if it makes me feel good. Heck, there have been several occasions where I've drank a whole can of Monster with that stuff and got a nosebleed. But to get back to the topic, I've only seen the Rebuild movies for this series, and only about half of 2.22, as that was when it aired back on Toonami, I didn't want to stay up until 5:00 a.m. to finish it, and I didn't have a DVR then. So hey, this seems like a good idea... at least until somebody puts out English BDs.

There's a ratings delay because of Thanksgiving. Check back here tomorrow.

Zombieland Saga #1 (second rewatch) and #2

Hardcore DB nerds will tell you that "sigh-yan" is the more correct pronunciation, although someone on NBC's staff probably thought Mr. Roker said it wrong.

Because they publish the manga? That's not a bad theory, but Sentai is the one who often gets Amazon shows that go unlicensed for a while, like Dive!! and Scum's Wish. Speaking of Viz, my gut thought they might get Planet With just for the sole reason that it's one of the year's most critically-acclaimed shows, popularity be damned. But since they didn't announce any show licenses at the recent anime con in NYC, I assume nothing is in the cards. Barebones mid-2020 release from CR released to no fanfare, here we come.

They aired one episode of GiTS 2nd GiG before breaking for a Halloween marathon. I think they'll do it again (but for two) with the Gundam rerun.

Violet Evergarden is confusing just because Netflix has it locked up. It would be an interesting (and very beautiful) show to see, however. Banana Fish is also in a bad spot due to Amazon, but I have a feeling Sentai is eventually going to license it after enough time. The other three choices are pretty cut and dry, but I wouldn't mind seeing any of these on the block.

I wasn't being ironic. I wouldn't have said that if it wasn't what I genuinely believe. There have been some pretty bad worst-case scenarios floating around regarding climate change. I think what will happen won't be quite as bad as those, but stopping the worst effects that will kill many is going to take a lot of manpower. I'll explain the fight in better detail elsewhere if you want. This thread has set itself on fire, but I do like the point someone made about Toonami's music videos, so I'll continue. Some of what Toonami has aired in bumpers in recent years, especially that "Dispel the Darkness" speech, has skewed more political. You could swap a few words in that one to make it about Trump, but the message would be entirely the same. However, this block has been promoting such values—that someone will get the strength to defeat their enemies, seek out their dreams, and be more compassionate to others—ever since it went on the air. Because of that, it's always been political; people don't think so unless a work trades on explicit names, or at least gives indirect mentions to the Democrats, Republicans, and/or whatever else. Knowing the affiliations of the creators helps with this. Many are only mad because they know what Jason's beliefs are and are afraid he's projecting them onto the viewers, and ironically, they're correct. If you don't like how this block is being run, that's understandable, but you'll eventually have to realize that everything is inherently political. Many of them express views in a subtle way because doing otherwise would alienate other viewers. So while we're not going to see TOM say how awesome Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is during a bump, a general expression that the awfulness of the world is worth fighting against can be powerful to the audience. Some may not like it, but many do, and that's why Toonami has kept up with the speech-ifying.

The "Beyond" project also suggests something new for IBO, which has been rumored for a while, as well as Wing. I wonder when we'll learn more about those. As for when Toonami could air the TV edit of The Origin, early 2020 seems like a good guess.

The reaction to Beware the Batman makes me think otherwise. Like... wow, that actually aired on Toonami. It seems weird to consider, if only because it's been so long.

I'll tell you this much: it might be the first show in any medium to insert a cry for help in its ending credits. If you really want to watch a show like this, try something with better production values.

How should it be "alienating" to shine a light on how we only have a little over a decade to stop most of the world from turning into an unlivable hellscape from climate change? And also, the government is still keeping children in concentration camps. These are extraordinary times that easily separate the weak from the strong, and being silent about these issues is total complicity. Even if you don't like all the political talk going on, you should at least be conditioned to try and give a shit whenever it's put out there. Personally, I could drive away all but three people on the whole Internet, but so long as my beliefs are ultimately validated in the end, I'd be satisfied. Getting back to the topic at hand, if someone in the anime industry really wanted to troll DeMarco, they'd be better off calling him a democratic socialist... or, hell, even a tankie. I'd live for that controversy.

No matter what happens with future series, it looks like DeMarco's idea of a "permanent Gundam slot", if that was even said, will never happen. And who knows what series they might air next. Personally, I think Thunderbolt becomes less likely every time Al says something about it. Also, this bit of news is worth considering. If Sunrise wants to make a new Gundam movie every other year, and that's going to be the primary venue for the franchise going forward, it'll limit how much Toonami can air. [it's not confusing... seriously]

And then Alabama scored five unanswered TDs. This is largely unrelated, but I'm happy the Larry Nassar scandal and the lack of action taken to it made me think of all college athletics as a general evil. Edit: I hope you didn't like this for the aspect involving sexual abuse of teenage gymnasts.

I remember this episode of DBZ Kai being the one where Ben totally lost his shit because he thought the title (i.e. the Saiyans arriving sooner than expected) was a spoiler. That was hilariously sad, but I guess he had a point.

The most quixotic choice for a marathon in Toonami history plays out tonight. Who needs one for Thanksgiving? You're hardcore, so I assume you won't let the turkey get you down next week.

No schedule change regarding reruns has ever been bad (at least if it's in the back half), but they probably should've done Unicorn. This could be a sign that Toonami isn't done with Gundam yet, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Also, they're now spelling Megalo( )Box's title differently. I guess it's an improvement.

The ratings aren't dead. They've achieved something closer to immortality, being strung up mostly on the whims of Turner's PR department.
