mob psycho 100 Mob Psycho 100 Episode 002 Discussion
Blatch replied to OwlChemist81's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
It's crazy to me that seemingly every Toonami premiere, regardless of if it's big, gets topicals now... but on the other hand, they've all been pared down to less than thirty seconds. -
Pop Team Epic Is Rerunning on November 11th

This is an obvious choice for a rerun. Heck, I wonder how it'd do if they put it at 3:30 as a buffer to the [as] comedy. -
You've started saying this every week the ratings come out. How come you can't you lower your expectations like everyone else?

I already have the full chart, courtesy of ProgrammingInsider. It seems they've posted it almost as early, if not earlier than other sites.

I'd love to know what the eggplant-headed girl was doing. For that matter, was she actually real, or was someone dreaming it? This show sure loves to throw weird stuff out and not explain it at all. -

Crunchyroll, Toonami Teaming Up For Adult Swim Programming

Unless there's an explicit Sentairoll partnership, that's not going to happen. In fact, I wonder if CR even wants that, as there's a possibility another company might buy Sentai to get in on the anime game and cause them to split from VRV. -
MOB PSYCHO 100 On Toonami Starting October 27th 11:30!
Blatch replied to The1gairon's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
Simuldubs don't really work for a television block, as it's impossible to know if a show will be good based on how much is available. Sometimes, the first few episodes can be promising, but you ultimately end up with a bomb like Dimension W that you're embarrassed about but still have to air the last few episodes of. Even Adam West's Batman would scoff at this idea. I also want to say that Toonami doesn't need to air the freshest stuff in order to get good ratings. The shows can succeed based on if they're good and nothing else. That's how the [as] revival started off, and it eventually blossomed into the block we have today. Now they're getting Megalo Box, which will be airing its dub less than six nine months after the Japanese premiere... but it also happens to be a great show. That's got to account for something. -
Ghost Hunt #1 Planet With #9 to #11 Ajin: Demi-Human #1

I agree, albeit for personal reasons. Considering how early some of the premieres air now, I'd love to be able to watch them at a more typical time via a repeating block, and without needing a DVR.

If you're going to go that far, you might as well air actual porn.

It always sucks when a dude dies of a preventable cause. My condolences to his friends and family. Although, and this is just something I'm pointing out, it feels odd whenever we point out whenever there are multiple famous people deaths in a short period of time. I guess the events of 2016 made us all more sensitive to this. At least the other seiyuu died at 83, and of natural causes.

Believe it or not, this rerun held DB Super better than any of the three episodes that premiered after it. That's probably due to that show having lower ratings this week, but it's worth mentioning. The first two hours were much weaker (except for DBZ Kai, somehow), and the back stretch utterly collapsed. It's crazy to see a rerun getting a five-digit total for A18-49s. This could be the new normal, but I think the numbers will snap back when Mob premieres this weekend.

Bang Zoom! reportedly had a bad time with DRRR!'s simuldub, and they haven't done any others since. California seems to be cursed regarding this idea. -
MOB PSYCHO 100 On Toonami Starting October 27th 11:30!

Hot damn! This is a great announcement. I can't wait for the great animation in this show to wash over us and make everything trippy. The fact that they're announcing a show for next week means they definitely went down to the wire on this one. And it's quite the surprise, as I assumed nothing new was coming until Megalo Box. Heck, there's still a chance we could get another new show after Attack on Titan takes a break, which would make this last part of the year even sweeter. -
So it looks like we have no indication of whether this rerun will continue past tonight. Personally, and I think I'm in the majority on this, but I don't see Toonami removing it. It'll stay until after Thanksgiving for easier show slotting, and next week, they'll remove an episode of Samurai Jack and move stuff down to compensate.

No matter which season you prefer, your opinion is perfectly okay to have. I think it's obvious that Alternative is liked better despite being less popular on MAL. By the time it premiered, the hype for new FLCL was straight gone due to Progressive being a disappointment. But would both seasons be better received if Alternative had aired first? I'm actually not sure. On one hand, it's a more character-driven series, oozes with personality and style, and has a much better climax. On the other, the lack of references to the FLCL mythos and reliance on SoL antics would've bored many, and it also has inferior animation. And then having Progressive be the second series would've lead to a weaker ending to the franchise as a whole, and I feel just as many would be pissed off and disinterested in that case. All in all, we got one new series that was somewhat decent and another that was genuinely good. As someone who had no expectations going into either of them, I'm satisfied.

Trunks Thread 19.1: A New New Frontier
Blatch replied to PokeNirvash's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
To put it simply, Ben still going at it on the Animegate thread made me mad. I posted to wonder why, even though the reason should be obvious to anyone who's been on these boards for a while. I then recanted it almost immediately and then wondered if I was starting to fall off my perch as one of the only sane (well, most sane) people on the boards, so I asked for a three-day ban from the mods when reporting my post. It's over now, so this ain't a big deal. -
Trunks Thread 19.1: A New New Frontier
Blatch replied to PokeNirvash's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Well, I'm now back on the forums after exiling myself for three days. I said it was for a mental health break, but the ostensible reason was because I was posting in various threads out of impulse and then quickly asking for them to be removed. I'm surprised the mods didn't get annoyed at that after a while and ban me anyway. Regardless of a deep-seated psychosis that comes and goes at random, I might pop in the Toonami folder tonight during JoJo's, but otherwise, I'll just post in here tomorrow afternoon. -
Moving the Alternative rerun to a later slot would cause ratings instability, and the Toonami crew doesn't want that less than a month after shuffling much of the block around. Additionally, Progressive's rerun went the whole six weeks without being removed, so it must not have been a particular threat to the rest of the lineup. We're probably at a point where every world premiere will get another run right after it finishes, so there's no use in complaining. The situation with AoT S3, regardless of if it took Jason off guard, shouldn't affect where or when Megalo Box airs. They can just replace the former with a brand new show come December, maybe even on the same day the latter premieres. Sketch has theorized about this and posted his thoughts as of late. I'd love to know what the deal is with Toonami's wording, since they called MB their "newest show" while their other post implied that they wanted to have a new one ready to go when Alternative ended. Maybe these semantics are referring to "newest show" based on when they get announced. If they actually have something new coming and it was delayed, and it's wasn't Scavengers Reign, it's likely an acquired show from Funimation. For whatever reason, they like to announce the Funi pickups very soon (usually between 2 and 3 weeks) before airing, but ones from other companies will be announced more ahead of time. Both Sentai shows were known months in advance, all of Aniplex's got announced at least a month before, and even the direct-from-Japan acquisitions like Lupin Part IV and the Gundams have gotten a few weeks' worth of leeway. Viz has been all over the place, going back to when HxH was announced just 15 days from its premiere, but their more recent show announcements have come early, including that for Megalo Box. I'm not even getting into what would happen if the new Scavengers episode is what's holding stuff up, largely because I can't comprehend that. But what I'm really curious about above all else is why they thought they could wait until just six days out to announce that they were getting a new show to begin with, and that it was delayed. Does DeMarco want to go back to the "good old days" when you didn't know a show was airing until the week before it premiered? He tried to do that early on in the [as] Toonami's history with Soul Eater, but external schedules spoiled it. At least he's found a roundabout way to try and pull it off, but I'm not crazy about it.
