Now that the Hulu/Disney+ merger is closer to happening, I just thought I'd ask a specific question: Has any anime on Hulu jumped over to Disney+? If so, how much of the catalog has done so?
-
Perhaps I should have clarified that I wasn't specifically thinking of anchor shows for the modern day. I was also putting the past 23 years of the block into consideration when making this thread.
-
I thought I'd diversify beyond the Toonami block a little and ask what you all think the anchor shows for Adult Swim are. Of course, we all know that Rick & Morty and Family Guy are on that list, so I'm wondering if there are any others on that level. With that said, give me your anchors!

Toonami Fantasy Schedule Thread
Mr. Idea Box replied to Mr. Idea Box's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
I hope that Thundercats airs during the 4 PM hour before Toonami after being replaced by G-Force. Likewise, I'm glad that SWAT Kats gets a third season to tie up any loose ends. I wonder how many shows can qualify for an Afternoon Adventures timeslot. Could Captain Planet feasibly air at 4:30? Would the special week of Beast Wars be an Afternoon Adventures event? Classic Batman on weekdays, and The New Batman Adventures airing as its own timeslot on Saturday Nights. That is great. Also great is the rest of the Saturday Night block, with The Justice Friends, Road Rovers, and the new season of Jonny Quest. Equal parts of WB's library and Hanna-Barbera's studio at work. Oh, and the Sunday afternoon block is no slouch, with all the classics you could want. Putting the 80s Superman series from Ruby-Spears there is good promotion for Kids WB, Birdman hasn't been adapted into a Williams Street lawyer yet, and Dynomutt & Thundarr just needed to be there. After all this, there's the 10th Anniversary lineup kicking off with a recreation of the first lineup. If that isn't good enough, there's all the premieres starting at 6. The season premiere of Teen Titans, Dial H for Hero, a Toonami Reactor premiere, a series finale, three World Premieres, a Viz Media premiere, and a 10th Anniversary lookback followed by a movie at Midnight. However, I do have some thoughts on those: Either the fifth season of Teen Titans is pushed back to commemorate the birthday, or it's actually the sixth season. Does Dial H for Hero replace Ben 10 in this timeline? Perhaps the Series Finale is Samurai Jack's conclusion, getting an extra season from Genndy's director chair. I'm not sure what the Toonami Reactor television premiere is. Maybe the 2004 Black Jack anime? I don't know. If I may theorize the World Premieres, I think the DC one would be an overdue Wonder Woman cartoon, whereas the CN one would be Powerpuff Girls Z, and the Western one could be a return to form for Space Ghost. The timeslot for Viz's next hit stumps me on what it could be. As for the special, I think 11:30 might be too late in the night to air it. The movie, on the other hand, could be anything. All in all, great lineups! -
Toonami Fantasy Schedule Thread

That's because his take on Toonami launched in September 1996 instead of March 1997. -
Being a series about school children playing soccer, you'd think Captain Tsubasa would have gotten an English dub by now.
-
On the subject of My Hero, a good chunk of the show was inspired by Star Wars, and the season proper would be a month behind the subbed version if it did come to the US then. However, if they have to wait a while before getting the Swordsmith Village Arc, I can see Supes on a summer Reign for a full hour. <----Joke

I'm not sure if you're ready to hear this, but anime already airs only once a week in Japan, sometimes at midnight. This is nothing major.

Checkered Past day one lineup
Mr. Idea Box replied to Toonamiguy321's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Whether you love or hate Cow and Chicken, I would have preferred to see it alongside three other shows, rather than all at once. Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo, Kids Next Door, Foster's Home, Samurai Jack, Camp Lazlo, even Captain Planet. And those are just the heavy hitters. Heck, why aren't I Am Weasel and Evil Con Carne also permanently added to Fridays? If I'm being pedantic about this, anyway. -
Netflix to simulcast One Piece Egghead arc
Mr. Idea Box replied to Jman's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
I mean, Netflix does have the One Piece live-action remake and a reboot of the anime in the works. I guess they might as well go for the hat trick on the Straw Hats. But from a Toonami-only perspective, I have two hypotheses on what this means: The Wano arc would be the final arc to air on linear television. By the time the English dub gets to the Egghead arc, Netflix jail would finally let it air elsewhere. Granted, we won't know about that until 2033, but still. -
This is why I hope they cut a deal with Sentai Filmworks for Lupin Zero and the Urusei Yatsura reboot. Because they're different from shonen and (probably) cheaper to license.
-
If that's your worst case scenario, I'm curious what your pie-in-the-sky scenario looks like.
-
The first half sounds plausible to me, but giving them 3 AM back, not to mention airing Jujitsu Kaisen, Eizouken, Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, and Spy X Family? If your forecast happens to be an accurate prediction of the coming year, check me into the asylum.
-
Hey, I'll take any notice from Toonami itself on the finale. Doesn't have to be a complete marathon to do so, to be honest.
-
Am I the only one hoping for a Naruto Shippuden farewell marathon next year? Because I would think it deserves the Futurama treatment by now. And if it helps, it would mean a week without a One Piece premiere, unless they make a new deal in advance. Which I'm not expecting either, but I'm already on copium when thinking of Toonami's future.
-
Oh, now that's just pathetic to see. But now I'm curious. What if the WB-Universal merger is a thing? Does Toonami have a chance?
