What Is Your Least Favorite Horror Sub-genre(s)?
PurgatoryGirl replied to PurgatoryGirl's topic in Horror
Ah, great minds think alike. I take it Zombie Horror is your least favorite sub-genre, too. -
Sorry to bug you, but is there ANY chance that Horror can be moved OUT of General Noise to Media Bastards?

Aw, that's too bad. Some of us were really enjoying the sub-forum. It's actually 1 of the very few I actually post in.
Then again, I know the scourge will rejoice considering the fact, that they will stop at nothing to ruin the little bit of enjoyment any of us have without them being a part of it.

I mean, people can still talk about Horror stuff in like the TV/Movies or the Literature folders. I can also move threads out of the folder when it gets shut down if you want to continue any discussions too.
-
I guess but it's still not the same because it is specifically about Horror. Like I have said before, Horror is not seasonal. It's all year round.
I would join a Horror forum but most forums in general are close to extinction due to so many people flocking to social media sites.

Without a doubt, mine would be Zombie Horror. Over the years, I have tried but just can't get into it. Whenever I see zombies, it reminds me of alcoholics drunk driving, looting, vandalizing, and violating other people and their property. Re-Animator is the only Zombie Horror film I like. Found Footage Horror annoys the hell out of me. I didn't bother going to see The Blair Witch Project 20 years ago. Watching the commercials always looked mind-numbingly stupid. Don't even get me started on that movie, Cloverfield. I watched it on TV years ago. OMG! Talk about having your intelligence being insulted. Exploitation Horror might be on my least favorite list as well. After watching Wes Craven's The Last House On The Left last week, I still feel repulsed by it. So, what about you?

I mostly like it because it had Billy Zane in the film. -

About 60 minutes or so ago, I finished watching Child's Play on EPIX. I can't believe it has been 30 years, since the time it was released. I always thought the creators modeled the Good Guy dolls after My Buddy And Me dolls from the '80s. Welp, it turns out that the Good Guy dolls were actually modeled after The Cabbage Patch Kids, that talked; That's actually what Chucky was modeled after. In fact, the creators of Child's Play replicated the toy store fights that customers had over The Cabbage Patch Kids from the '80s. I didn't realize that until re-watching the film this afternoon. LOL! I still have my mine somewhere. On Christmas Eve 1988, my aunt went to see Child's Play with her college friend at the theaters. Supposedly, they got so scared of Chucky that they literally ran out the theater screaming. Then on Christmas morning, my mom took my talking Cabbage Patch doll, that she just bought as a Christmas present into my aunt's bedroom and woke her up with it. She flipped her shit listening to her talk! I wish I would've been in my aunt's bedroom to witness that freak out. My mom played an evil prank on her 30 years ago. LMAO! -
What Do Ghost Face, Mojo Jojo, And Hol Horse Have In Common?

The original Mojo Jojo, everybody! -
i just accidentally marked all of FFA as unread
PurgatoryGirl replied to Raptorpat's topic in Free-For-All
That almost happened to me once. BTW: It's great to see that the Horror sub-forum is still up. There will be more movies to discuss come December. Christmas Horror Movies that go beyond Gremlins. Bring on the Santaphobia! -

If YouTube didn't strip it, you should be able to watch Silent Night, Deadly Night in its entirety. After watching the movie, while comparing it to the trailer, I realized just how misleading the trailer was for it. Personally, I found the trailer more frightening than the movie itself. I was only scared during the beginning of Silent Night, Deadly Night. His so-called catatonic grandfather scared me. BTW: The 2012 remake of Silent Night was a joke. It seemed like it was more dark humor than anything. That's besides being contrived and unrealistic. The only scary part of the remake was the Santa Claus Mask. I almost fell off my bed from laughing so hard at that pill-popping brat literally getting tazed to death. -

PurgatoryGirl replied to PurgatoryGirl's topic in Horror
Have you seen the original? It really focused on the "Santaphobia" because the killer was traumatized by a serial killer, who raped and killed his parents as a child. Every time he saw people having sex and after 1 of his co-workers was raped by another co-worker in front of him, he snapped and went on a killing spree. Also, he had to dress as Santa Claus, when he was already Santaphobic. -

They claimed years ago that the Horror genre was closed to extinction because media watchdog groups, helicopter parents, and Christian zealots mostly demonized the Slasher Horror sub-genre. In 1984, they all flipped their shit over the original Silent Night, Deadly Night film. The film as well as the filmmaker were demonized for promoting a Killer Santa and for traumatizing children with its commercials. Because of Silent Night, Deadly Night being released, more Horror films were demonized and sent directly to video. 1984 was the year of censorship in entertainment as a whole. Even though there were still other Horror films, that were released a decade later, the Horror genre was supposedly closed to extinction. It wasn't until SCREAM was released in 1996, that it supposedly revived the Horror genre. -

The whole purpose for the SCREAM franchise was to point out all the flaws in Slasher Horror films. -

What? How do you figure? The voice actor has a history of voicing all 3 villains. When were Mojo Jojo and Hol Horse not antagonists? Also, even though the character for Ghost Face has actually been played by multiple actors and actresses, Roger L. Jackson's voice has been used for the voice distorter over the phones. Several years ago, I watched at least 1 SCREAM documentary. They said his identity was kept hidden to keep the cast scared on the set. Supposedly, it helped them to deliver their lines better because they were always scared. I guess Wes Craven and the writer for the franchise wanted to live up to the whole "fear of the unknown." -

Ghost Face as in the character for the SCREAM franchise. -
It appears that all 3 villains share the exact same voice actor. I never saw this coming. It's amazing what you learn online. https://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Roger-Jackson/

What Horror Movie/Show Are You Watching Right Now?

Because I missed the first 1/2 hour of Wolf on the Sony channel, earlier this morning, I was hoping that it would re-air tonight. Wolf was another Horror Movie from the mid-90's, that I hadn't seen in years. Meanwhile, every premium channel has been re-airing the same movies as if there are no other movies that exist. Even though I like watching Tales From The Crypt: Demon Knight, Tales From The Hood should've been on at least 1 of Starz or Encore's channels. -

Looks like there are quite a few of us ambidextrous on here. Well, I am mostly right handed but am slightly ambidextrous. I can actually eat with my left hand, while typing with my right as well.

The Last House On The Left was just repulsive to watch. I read that a movie critic literally walked out the theater when it released in '72. He said he couldn't stomach it after watching the 1 girl be dismembered. -

For the last 3 decades, my mom has owned The Lost Boys Soundtrack on vinyl. Who doesn't love The Lost Boys? Meanwhile, I tried watching Tales From The Crypt: Demon Knight on Encore Suspense but the storm kept making the satellite go out on Sunday night. I hadn't seen it, since the '90s. The same applies for Tales From The Hood. It's amazing. Cable and satellite channels have been airing Horror Movies such as Gremlins and Silent Night, Deadly Night. However, there is still no sign of Tales From The Hood. Like seriously? Meanwhile, I finally saw Wes Craven's The Last House On The Left from 1972 on the HD Net Movies Channel. OMG! As a Horror fan, never in all my years have I ever felt so repulsed by a Horror film. Turns out the movie falls under the Exploitation Horror sub-genre. For years, I have heard about The Last House On The Left and that it was banned in some cities and countries. After watching it last night, I can understand why. Watching The Last House On The Left felt like I was watching a gratuitous version of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Dead Man Walking, and HBO's Oz with a dash of Splatterpunk Horror. The Last House On The Left had gratuitous rape scenes, including lesbian rape scenes followed by serial killing. Watching it felt like something you would read and/hear about on local news. From a Horror writer's perspective, I understand what Craven was trying to show viewers. At the same time, The Last House On The Left was extremely grisly and more gratuitous than anything I have ever written in regards to Horror. Just... ugh! -
If anyone else is still awake in ~90 more minutes or so, History Of Horror will be re-airing on AMC. 2 hours ago, I didn't watch Part 3 because I was watching something else.
