  1. Somewhere around the 1000-foot mark, depending on the hill's incline and how many miles I've already ridden.
  2. Throw drops of it into a tequila shot w/ lime, have yourself a prairie fire
  3. You know that sensation of falling when you're almost asleep and you jerk awake? That sensation has spiked since the accident. Still though, all is well
  4. Update: went in for a follow-up. No need for additional surgery. Healing well. My two doctors (one a med student) are both exceedingly hot. Like, I knew that when I went in the first time but this was the first time I REALLY got to see them. One of them: You look better without blood all over your face. Me: Yeah, I get that a lot.
  5. It's the last cereal I bought for myself. That was only two weeks ago.
  6. I got my phone out and played The Ramones "I Wanna Be Sedated" while awaiting my initial scans. I'm way ahead of you.
  7. Well, I survived. The taco didn't. My condolences.
  8. Was evaluated but no concussion. And will do, thanks for the tips. ❤️
  9. Hearing is mostly fine (just clogged from blood run off) They were wooden basement stairs with a concrete floor at the bottom, so yeah I pretty rough ride.
  10. No concussion, thankfully. I'd say I got off lucky.
  11. Hell I can barely touch it, and I have to to help it recover
  12. I did tell the doctor as I was getting pumped with fentanyl that I finally had something in common with Holyfield.
  13. Looks way worse than it felt tbh. Though when I was discharged the complete result put me in a lot of pain
  14. Some Oxy, but the intense pain isn't expected to last long so they only gave me a couple.
  15. I ended up with a fractured bone by the right eye and an ear that looked like somebody went at it with shears. Stitched up and back home safe. Gross pic below in the spoiler
  16. Got my MFA. Working on getting the thesis published.
  17. West Coast here, remembering the wild attempts to be active on the boards while I was in South Korea's time zone
  18. I get enough cold shoulder from my living relationships; I don't need twice the shoulder from every single sharing their location from the veteran cemetery.
  19. Espurr
  20. Old English æcern "nut, mast of trees, acorn," a common Germanic word (cognates: Old Norse akarn, Dutch aker, Low German ecker "acorn," German Ecker, Gothic akran "fruit"), originally the mast of any forest tree. It is by most sources said to be related (via notion of "fruit of the open or unenclosed land") to the source of Old English æcer "open land," Gothic akrs "field," Old French aigrun "fruits and vegetables" (from Frankish or some other Germanic source); see acre. The sense was gradually restricted in Low German, Scandinavian, and English to the most important of the forest produce for feeding swine: the mast of the oak tree. The regular modern form would be *akern; the current spelling emerged 15c.-16c. by folk etymology association with oak (Old English ac) and corn (n.1), neither of which has anything to do with it. Acorn squash is attested by 1937.
