In reality, he can always get some high end power steering fluid with stop leak in it and try that first before actually looking for leaks or getting some mechanic to screw him. My Tahoe had power steering issues for a while and the stopleak sealed it well enough until I sold it a few months later. He can buy himself some time for like $10
