Earlier in this thread, I compared this Hamas-Israel war to the 1994 Rwandan genocide. Now I'm reminded of the Syrian Civil War of the 2010s. Chemical weapons were used, Russia and the U.S. joined in the fighting on opposite sides, whole cities were leveled. And then, around 2015 half of Americans formed this opinion of "Hell no to any Syrian refugees coming to the United States". I remember arguing about it online. And that was basically our knowledge of the war. A bunch of xenophobes saying how much they hate refugees. And then, we moved on to the upcoming 2016 election and forgot about Syria.

Nancy Pelosi for bipartisan coalition Speaker until the end of this Congress. She just was Speaker, and she's sitting right there in the front row with nothing to do. -

I am thinking a bipartisan coalition Speaker is how this will end. Only a handful of Republicans would need to join all Democrats to do it. And I wouldn't worry about other Republicans being mad at the Republicans who defected. They all seem pretty mad at each other now. Also disorganized. I don't know if they would be capable of revenge on the defectors. -
I guess, "non-credible threats" is the term military people use, but I prefer "dick waving".
-
I see a lot of, for the lack of a better term, dick waving. "We're going to destroy you." "No! We're going to destroy you!" When no one is capable enough to follow thru. Israel isn't capable of totally destroying Hamas, for example.

McCarthy Speaker & GOP House Majority Drama

I know it's complete nonsense, but occasionally the flustered Republicans will try to blame Democrats for this again. If Speaker Pelosi had a motion to vacate against her, the Republicans wouldn't ever help her. So there's no merit to this hypocritical argument whatsoever. -

I don't think militants in Yemen or Iraq are the biggest threat. The U.S. (and in case of the former, Saudi Arabia, the enemy of Yemen) can handle them without us Americans noticing it happening. Militants in Syria are a somewhat larger threat because of the border with Israel but I think they are still fairly disorganized. More like ISIS or al-Qaeda than an army. The biggest threat is Hezbollah in Lebanon, but I think their leader is famously risk adverse due to their past wars with Israel. They could still launch an all-out war on Israel despite that though and it deserves to be closely monitored to see if they are specific moves indicating that happening.

What Are You Thinking About Right Now?
Icarus27k replied to DragonSinger's topic in General Discussion
I kind of like "The Boys". It's a genuinely shocking satire of superheroes. I can tell the creators were fed up with the genre when they wrote it. I will admit to being slightly uncomfortable with some of the fanbase who miss the message completely and think characters like Homelander are to be idealized. -
1. Allies of Ukraine have put stipulations on their military aid saying Ukraine can't use it to hit Russia (internationally recognized Russian territory). 2. These are a specific kind of ATACMS. Ones that have a shorter range than other versions. This range is less than what many pro-Ukraine people had been hoping for. It's also the cluster munition version of ATACMS. (Other versions are single warhead.) It's a cluster bomb that has a range significantly greater than ordinary cluster artillery. It's not suitable for specific targets. It just hits many things over an area. Ukraine could not use it, for example, to target a specific building. 3. Ukraine has already been using long-range precision missiles with single warheads (the Storm Shadow and Scalp).

When people online were making claims that hundreds of people were killed and the hospital was leveled, I was cautious and saying "you don't know that; the videos and pics released so far don't prove that" and this reconnaissance footage has the hospital not leveled and damage to vehicles in a parking lot.
-
Conclusion I am leaning towards: it was a rocket fired from inside Gaza that caused the hospital bombing, and you can see that here.
