As shown on the official AS schedule but NOT reflected on places such as TV Passport. Seems to have been a very last second change. People did observe that the Dr Stone marathon had one too many episodes, but burning an extra episode to make sure they had enough isn’t how I expected them to fix that.

My Hero Academia Season 7 to debut in Japan Spring 2024
Toonamiguy321 replied to Jman's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Well, I think we know what our Demon Slayer replacement will be. They may have to stall a bit to get us there though. This season is going to get very close to where the manga is at since this is around the time its release schedule started to slow down. Season 8 is definitely going to have a larger gap between its release. -
Lycoris Recoil was not something I ever considered them picking up, so if we see the best case scenario where Demarco roots around the Aniplex catalog, there are a lot of crazy directions we could see them go for replacements next year. Originals, I have my doubts Lazarus will be a 2024 show. Watanabe seemed to want it to be, but did not seem confident it would be. I don’t think they will hesitate to give that more time in the oven. Sequels, at least at the moment, I don’t think any are on deck. MHA has been consistent yearly, but it’s also starting to get close to the manga so they might pump the brakes on it for a bit. Special event wise, I do expect them to put together a little send off for Naruto. Airing 500 episodes of anything deserves a celebration. 2024 has the potential to be a major Toonami redemption arc since we are hitting the ground running the very first week of the year. Time will tell if they can actually deliver beyond the first 3-4 months of the year.

Double OP still costs them money to air, so I doubt they want to do that + have stocked new shows at the same time. Especially since double OP is their emergency trump card when they can’t line something up. If it’s already doubled up, if they don’t have a replacement for one of the above shows, they are SoL. A repeat of this years long term double OP and double Naruto time stalling won’t work, so they really need that second OP in their back pocket for emergencies. Like I said, if they had more budget and a clear content path with Aniplex, an expansion could work. Unfortunately, I don’t think they will be getting either of those so it’s smarter to sit at 3 hours. Even with their obligations to originals and reheated reruns, that still isn’t enough to cover all their bases, especially since none of them have a firm release date. They did say 2024 for the likes of Ninja Kamui and Lazarus, but hey they also said 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 for Uzumaki, and we have yet to see that.

The only way an expansion would make sense is if they are getting a massive budget increase for 2024, which I doubt. They have a pretty big workload cut out for them just in the first 6 months of the year. 1. Dr Stone 2. Demon Slayer 3. Lycoris Recoil 4. IGPX 5. Naruto All of these will need replacements before it’s even summer. IGPX is easy enough since they will probably slot in another rerun, but the other 4 need premier replacements. If it’s 12 episodes, the replacement for Dr Stone could also need replaced by June. That’s a big job, and we still don’t know the extent of cooperation Aniplex is willing to afford the block, so content might get tight again.

There it is, as expected. So in 2024, we close the book on two of Toonami’s longest mainstays, AoT and Naruto.

I will concede Christmas and New Years because those are very travel heavy, and often night centric holidays. Labor Day and Memorial Day are not. People go out and have their fun during the day and come midnight are home and ready for Toonami. The only other holiday that warrants a marathon is the 4th of July when the 4th falls on Fri/Sat/Sun.

“Aqua Teen Hunger Force” Season Twelve Talkback
Toonamiguy321 replied to [classic swim]'s topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
I think that proper new season is a lock boys. Those are healthy. -
I mean, if the schedule isn’t changing, it’s not surprising they aren’t publishing updates, since there aren’t any. If they are going off script for the 16th, (I don’t think they will), that’s something we wouldn’t learn about till 2 weeks ahead of time. With Demon Slayer’s continuation put off till Jan 13th, they obviously have something on deck for the 6th, more than likely AoT part 2.

Haha, those mentalist tricks that Gen showed us in last nights Dr Stone actually work in real life. A little bit more hostility, but other than that, a flawless recreation. If offending the audience is the concern, showing most Adult Swim viewers what their insides look like is probably the faster way to do it.

“Aqua Teen Hunger Force” Season Twelve Talkback
Toonamiguy321 replied to [classic swim]'s topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Coming in on the heels of Plantasm, which was pretty bad overall, I was worried. But these felt like classic episodes. Not the best, but passable. It does feel like these kind of start in the middle of the episode though, old episodes usually start slow and then introduce the plot, where these just hit the ground running. Will probably never get used to the animation, but it’s less distracting than expected. -
“We edited it as little as possible” turned into just cutting like 3 full minutes out of the episode. Like they had time to run the OP in full that week just to fill the gaping hole left by the sloppy cut. And if you don’t like that one, KLK has plenty of other moronic cuts. And it doesn’t change my main point. The Demarco of 21 years ago is a completely different person. He was actually kind of cool back then. The terminally on twitter Demarco has been warped by internet culture where you have to wear all the correct opinions on your sleeve for all your followers to see and pat you on the back for.

No, we had a few shows prior to that fall under 100k. But we are talking 95-99k at 3-4am so not a huge deal as 80k at what I believe was 10pm. That marathon was destined for disaster. It slid Toonami way forward on the schedule into primetime and Family Guy had just left a gaping void on the network. Add on that Fena was incredibly boring and you have a recipe for a night no one wanted to tune in for. If nothing else, it showed Zaslav these shows have almost no value as reruns.

For 12a it is. I’m looking at the list, and that marks the 7th lowest lead in in the blocks history. If it was a lesser show I wouldn’t even blink about it, but this is one of biggest shows of the decade and was at one point so expensive the block couldn’t even air it. Now it’s on, at great sacrifice, and is kinda shitting the bed.

There are some theories about this. It’s stated early on that things taken out of the abyss will always find their way back into it. As Riko was born in the abyss, and owes her life to an abyss item, it’s theorized she has the same insatiable desire to return to the abyss at any cost. I have only watched the first season, so if something happens in S2 (or the manga and was cut) feel free to correct me, but is the issue here he gets to pork his waifu?
