Yea a great tribute, just 1-8 instead of actually putting a little thought into the episode selection. Really feeling the love and respect here. You are being SUPER fragile over a quick heads up of information. And come on, I have been on board with every new pickup this year so far. I’m only a “contrarian” when they do bad things.

I’m not watching it lmao, I need zero encouragement for that. I just want to make sure people are aware that these episodes they will binge tonight are going straight back into the normal rotation and Demarco really half assed this entire night purely to preserve a very long rerun of a show slightly longer. If they were gonna do that, they should have done a “best of” with all the action dense episodes.

So a heads up for people, according to online schedules, next weeks DBZ will be episode 4, NOT episode 9. So tonight is basically a huge waste of time unless you want to go to bed early for the next 5 weeks. Demarco really shit the bed with this whole thing.

Yep that’s what I expected, we had some non regulars blow in at midnight to see if TOM had anything to say. Hopefully they come back this week when TOM probably does have something to say. About what I expected to happen with Naruto as well. Bunch of people showed out last week for the finale and now that audience is just done. Episode was also hella boring so that probably didn’t help either.

Toei would have a strike team at your house before you even sent one file. Then they would bring Demarco in for a paddlin’ just to set an example.

They probably don’t want to normalize it running at those hours since it will make people realize that’s where it should air normally rather than as a rerun on Toonami at 2:30a. Demarco and company care about this, the suits don’t. There is a zero percent chance they ever would have went for pulling precious primetime Fox reruns for DBZ. Frankly, I’m shocked they gave up the late night ones. Not to mention, this crowd is completely unpleasable. Give the the entire night, they will complain it’s not Ocean dub. Give them Ocean dub, they will complain about the filler/padding. Give them every single thing they ask for via magic, and 3/4 of them never even tune in because they forget about it by Saturday and aren’t Toonami regulars. No doubt TOM and Sara will have a big speech at the start of the night on Saturday. This is the best way to do a tribute but also not alienate regular viewers and throw off their already established schedule shifts. Considering they aren’t taking this opportunity to slow down Lycoris, I assume they both have its replacement locked in and have a specific time it needs to start. The Kamui sub at 1:30 will be interesting. That might be early enough for it to just squeak onto the rerun ratings reel. Though even if it does, I doubt that will change its regular home.

I certainly didn’t expect them to keep it sensible and leave the main shows on the lineup. I did expect some kind of Kai marathon at some point though. Waiting till Memorial Day was just too long though.

Normally I’d be upset about something like this, but they had the good sense to leave the main 3 shows on the block, so this is happening with very little impact to normal viewers. For the very small group of people watching Kai, it’s pretty knuckleheaded to rerun the first 3 episodes on a marathon that already starts really late. Would 4-11 really been a budget buster? Nah, this is more than enough. A TOM speech over some iconic moments would have been enough. Had they not gotten Kai back a month ago, that’s all he would have gotten anyway.

It’s 2024 and there are still a ton of people who don’t even know Toonami came back. I think at best, the start of the block will be up a bit from lapsed viewers tuning in to see if TOM had anything to say on the matter, but other than that don’t expect any huge spikes. Plus, even among viewers, Kai coming back wasn’t even advertised outside of a single Facebook post, so there are probably a lot of people out there who thought Toonami might do something, if they still had DBZ, not knowing that it’s back.

Space Dandy isn’t an AS original so you don’t have to decide. A lot of signs point to that being the case. She told the detective not to call her, and when he did, she didn’t pick up. Likely because she was mid meeting with the rest of the ninja guys. Now the question is, have we been seeing her real face, or does she have one of those hologram things.

Seems like 2-3 years need to pass before it’s cheap enough for the block to pick up. Demarco did say earlier today they do plan to get Swordsmith at a later date, so it’s just a waiting game at this point. Id rather see them wait till it’s affordable rather than see them compromise the rest of the block just to get it early.

Oh I remember, Robot Unicorn Attack, Amateur Surgeon, Major Mayhem, and Super Monsters Ate my Condo got very heavy advertising at all times during AS hours. Back in the days where it was normal practice to sell a game for 99 cents rather than give it away for free but bog it down with microtransactions. Super Monsters Ate my Condo was a blast and great time waster. I wonder if there is a way to get those games onto my phone. Are there any metrics for what kind of playerbase Pocket Mortys even has? Apparently it’s alive enough to still be getting updates but I can’t think of a single time I have heard of someone actually playing it.

Zombie hookers? Sounds more like a dream come true to me. Pocket Morty’s got promoted at the end of each new R&M episode to show the new content associated with the episode, but never any other time. And usual reaction was “that is still going?”.

I had thought their entire gaming division shut down when the likes of Monsters Ate my Condo and Major Mayhem were delisted from Apple and Android. They were simplistic but well liked.

This explains why Aniplex didn’t spill the beans on Swordsmith a month ago. That makes two non sequel pickups in 2024, we haven’t done that well since 2020. And we have the potential to make it 3 depending on what replaces Lycoris. I still say MHA S7 takes over for Ninja Kamui, after a few weeks of stalling.

It’s already confirmed to be airing in the fall, as there is no R&M S8 this year. So we won’t be dealing with that at least. Kinda hope it’s not Scavengers. Forgot that was even a thing really. I was thinking the same, maybe Demarco was able to reel them in a little to not rob him of his thunder 3 months ahead of time.

Well, it’s about that time, with spring on the horizon, Toonami also has some major schedule shifts incoming. Here’s the breakdown Demon Slayer Entertainment District - March 23 Lycoris Recoil - April 13 Ninja Kamui (2 slots) - April 27 Naruto Shippuden - July 20* The first 3 should be accurate as there are no typical interruptions between now and then, but Naruto will likely shift up and down as marathons and stalling occur. But, we probably don’t need to worry about Naruto till the next rotation anyway. Expectations? Hopes? We will probably be hearing about Demon Slayer’s replacement in the coming week or so. Best case scenario for Demarco’s sanity would just be getting the next arc, as it can take over the lead slot briefly when Ninja Kamui ends. Smart money says MHA S7 will replace Ninja Kamui, but that will need a little bit more time in the dub oven from Kamui’s end date. Lycoris is the hard one to predict for. It would be great if Aniplex would just hold that slot forever to promote some of the single cour shows in their catalog, but I doubt we would be so lucky.

As of like 2 years ago, rerun ratings are no longer reported at all unless they crack the top 400 on all of cable. I think the block has done it 2, maybe 3 times in that timeframe. If you want to take a guess at them, pull up the top 400 chart and scroll to number 400. DBZ and Kamui did worse than that show.

Looks like Naruto fans were out in force to see the final manga chapter on cable. Don’t think the LN episodes will generate as much excitement. It will be interesting to see next weeks Ninja Kamui numbers. This episode was the first one thus far to not have any notable action, but next weeks looks like it will hit the ground running. If the dense action theory holds up, Ninja Kamui should turn in much better numbers next week.
