some people should have the human decency
jackiemarie90 replied to death_by_motorboat's topic in Free-For-All
I agree, but sometimes, people convince themselves so much against something, to prevent themselves of feeling any guilt or shame. People are more likely to have excuses than simple apologies. When you think about, admitting a mistake is the most humanly thing possible, we should be pushing that idea more in society I guess. -

Are you getting driven or you take public transportation? I like riding the bus sometimes because I don't have to focus on anything and find it relaxing. -

I also see that you run at a much faster pace than me too. I see that you go up to 7.0, and I would be a jogger at 5.3 - 5.4 for an hour at a time. But could do it for 2-3 hrs during those half marathons. lol I think it also depends on the persons health type and needs, I know some people are really great at sprinting. While I'm more of an endurance long distance runner. But oddly yes, I think it is great advice to think about the things that bother or stress us out during workouts. We get focused into that while not focusing on the results from exercising, and it can kind of help us work through those feelings at the same time. Running can be very therapeutic. Plus you feel stronger after a run, mentally at least.

What narratives or styles do you wish were games?
jackiemarie90 replied to jackiemarie90's topic in Games
I looked up the Vampire game clips on youtube. It does look like an interesting RPG, I always like customization. I can see the setting also being badass in Mexico City. Ruins and Cathedrals galore! lol You know, I'd love a reason to visit their studios. But I don't know if I'd know much about pitching an idea. I'm pretty sure I could flesh out the details vastly better than here, and present in pretty good way. Mention my experience as a history student and writer. But I always kinda see in media that people my take the idea without recognition of the person who developed it too. I'd like at least a name recognition for sure. lol It would be cool if it did happen though. -

The time of place would affect the cultures, although you can still play around with Mayan and Aztec gods for sure. Especially if you're travelling throughout MesoAmerica. I'd feel like they should be a feature, and not apart of the main story, the gods did not like the Spanish demanding christianity be the new religion. Maybe there presence is the reason why gods started bestowing more power to the locals, and the locals decide to the use their powers both against the conquistadors and later their demanding gods who require sacrifices. I know Kratos runs into many random greek soldiers in god of war and will certainly sacrifice anyone is his way. I'd imagine our character will do the same. Maybe we have to hunt a powerful relic in a pyramid level like the temple levels in god of war. And you happen to run into greedy consquistadors who randomly die within the pyramids traps, and ones later you can exploit yourself to pass the level. Also Vampires tmb? Not sure what game that is, but from the obsidian I can see it's some kind of resource gathering some point in it? >.> -
I started off on 20 minute intervals, then worked my way up to do causal jogging for an hour everyday. I don't do it these days, but used to a lot a few years ago. I'd say don't focus on your distance too much, focus on how long you can jog at a comfortable pace. I purposely hide the treadmill info about miles/calories burned etc and just think about the things bothering me in life. Kinda let my mind do more running while my body was. I was later able to do 13.1 half marathons after my training. Once you're in shape, I always felt the first 10 minutes were the hardest to get through, the it can be comfortable afterwards.

Tell Me About The Book You're Reading
jackiemarie90 replied to Bouvre's topic in Arts, Literature & Music
These days I have to focused on required reading, but doesn't mean the books are bad. Currently starting off Nisei Daughter by Monica Sone. A little easier read than other novels, this one is a true story of Japanese American little girl growing up with her immigrant family in Seattle after WW1 and it's eventually going into Japanese Internment. We are only a third of the way through, it's really cute to hear her describe the delicious food her family makes, and the other traditions she was forced to attend or do. There were already stories of bigotry with the police trying to take advantage of her father. -

I want either Santa Monica studios or someone else to make a God of War game with Mesoamerican Gods. It's cool seeing fans geek out about the classics like Greek gods, and I see we are moving towards Norse mythology in the newest version. But, I'm also tired of people speaking like the European mythologies are the only cool ancient stories that exist. Obviously people love Egyptian stories but it was also considered Roman territory at a certain point, and I wonder if that's why their mythologies are so well known. Anyways, my suggestion, have an indigenious character seek revenge on the Mesoamerica Gods for sacrificing beloved family members to the gods glory. The levels would still be vastly interesting, a lot of the territory surrounding the ancient cities are covered in huge jungles. A level where one is sent to the underworld is also possible in this mythology, whether Mayan, Aztec, or both! Fight your way through ancient spirits monsters, fight the maize, fire, and water gods! *slams fist on the table* I'm not particular about which culture, just this region, someone make it happen.
