No, I just meant they were the only ones who celebrated my birthday with me. I never had any actual parties.

Birthday parties have always been a weird concept to me. I guess because I never really had them as a kid (just my siblings & parents). I mean, if you wanna throw a party for your kids, that’s fine. But grown men & women have no business throwing one for themselves. It’s weird and it can stink of desperation, in some instances. Sorry for such a long-winded and cynical take here. I get like this sometimes.

So, I’m currently watching Jingle All The Way for the millionth time, and I’m a little irked about the message here. Being an absent parent can be fully remedied by getting your kid a toy they want? What kind of message is that? It’s also entirely possible that I’m severely overthinking this, but that seems unlikely.

It’s the holiday season? Oh, crap. I need to get busy, I guess.
