Her tear drops bring the episode to an end. That would be a pretty useful ability. If you don't like the way the plot's going just cry. -

I barely remember anything about this show at all it's been so long since it was on before, so I if they are getting any other seasons of it soon really good idea for them to run the first one again like this.

Yeah, except it doesn't exactly seem like sincere praise of any kind coming from the guy who said it. More like he intended it to be a sarcastic dig at us for criticizing them for their treatment of woman when we continue rejecting letting a woman be our leader. Kind of hard to be sure without a full accurate translation, but the article's title saying he mocked us suggests that at least. Also, him calling America a "great country" I find really hard to believe any Taliban guy really thinks that about us.

The Louisiana AG's cyber unit said they've traced them back to a VPN in Poland, but haven't found the original source. Could be a coincidence, but seems pretty fishy to me that it's being routed through a country that Putin and some of his cronies have basically outright threatened. https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/putin-ally-warns-enemy-poland-you-risk-losing-your-statehood-2023-11-02/

We'll see what happens. I'm still incredibly skeptical he'd ever dare do anything to go against what Putin wants in the end, but it doesn't surprise me there'd be talk like this after him speaking with Zelensky simply because Zelensky cares about his people and knows full well that if you kiss up and flatter the jerk enough you can get him to change his mind on just about anything. Problem is, it's whoever has his ear last and offers him whatever he sees of most personal value to him that's gonna be the one pulling the strings in the end, and Trump's got more to gain from having Putin on his side than he does Zelensky.

There's still a lot of it; that's without question. Just look at the news today about the threatening racist text messages being sent to black people across the country. It's scary stuff. Even if it's not coming from here in the U.S. (some speculation Russia could be behind it), it's happening for a reason and should be looked at and called out for what it is: a terrorist attack. Whether it's physical or psychological, it's just as evil and despicable, and whoever's doing it, they're doing it because they know it'll be effective because of how much hate and fear there is here still. That said, there isn't any single reason he won. If there were, people would have seen it coming much more easily. The rot that's here has been slowly creeping in and building up for a long time I believe, and that's exactly why trying to root out the causes of it all is gonna be next to impossible at this point. Racism plays a part, misogyny plays a part, the internet and changing media landscape plays a part. It's a toxic stew that's been brewing for quite some time, and I think we should face the fact that there's no easy way to throw it all out now. All we can do is do is our own part in trying to oppose succumbing to it in whatever little ways we can. Expect the worst, but hope for the best. If that sounds overly bleak and cheesy, all I got to say is -- dammit people I'm trying my best to be as optimistic as I can here!

What Anime Are You Watching Right Now?

Ghost Stories 12 - 20 That was good. I really enjoy scary stories, and some of those ghosts were surprisingly scary considering how old the show is. I did sample the dub in some places along the way, but mostly just for episode 12 cuz it was a more emotional kind of serious episode, and I was most curious I guess about how the dub would handle something like that. It was worse than I was expecting honestly, and I wasn't expecting much. But yeah, changing the part of Satsuki remembering her father and some nurses rushing to her mother's hospital room because she's dying into a joke about him apparently going to have group sex with the nurses instead told me everything I needed to know about it really. -
Yeah, I agree with that, expect for one thing... He doesn't have to worry about re-election anymore, so does what his base thinks even really matter anymore to him? Yeah, I suppose if they were to get so mad at him and completely turn on him it might damage his ego, which could get him to back off, but it would take something pretty extreme I think for that to happen.

Covid screwed up the supply chain, and I think his donors came out from that alright. Gave them an excuse to raise prices on goods, which they could always do again. It would be awful for the economy sure, but the rich always seem to find a way to come out ahead. Maybe you're right and I'm just looking at things too cynically though. I hope you're right anyway. About congress, that assumes they don't choose to do away with the filibuster entirely, in which case anything goes. What reason do we have to believe that they would ever play by the same set of rules as the democrats I mean. Mr. Hypocrite McConnell may be leaving as leader, but I really doubt whoever replaces him as senate leader is going to be more moderate than him.

I wouldn't bet on it either way. That's how come he's able to get away with proposing so many crazy ideas that would have sunk any other presidential candidate though. Nobody takes a clown seriously. Whatever zany stuff he does it's just part of his act, right? Thing is, you just never know. He's gonna be looking for some way to pay for his next ridiculous giveaway to the filthy rich, so it's either that or cutting Social Security and/or Medicare/Medicaid. One thing I do know, is if the republicans get the house (which seems really likely they will), I fully expect they're gonna try as hard as they can to rig the game harder than ever so any election to come from now on is just gonna be an election in name only, at least when it comes to the general election.

My takeaway. We've learned a few things, some of which were admittedly pretty obvious already, but... debates don't matter, running mates don't matter, issues don't matter, and the truth... the truth certainly doesn't matter. What does matter? Two things in my view. Just two things really. Fear. Fear matters. Fear of people that are different, fear of cultural norms changing, and probably most significant -- fear of women gaining an increased level of economic equality and independence that a lot of men are feeling threatened by. That goes right into the other thing then, which I think now is not just people's need to feel better about themselves, but also to feel superior than others. Having an outrageous buffoon out there who can get away with saying and doing pretty much anything without consequence and causing non-stop chaos that drives the smart, sensible people nuts I think simply satiates this need for a lot of people sadly. It's like the trap of reality TV. All the drama, the insanity... it's addicting, cuz when you see people acting so dumb and being driven so crazy by one another, you can't help but feel better about yourself. Thanks to Trump, America's basically become one big reality TV show that we just can't quit. So sorry, but people saying this is about grocery prices. I don't buy it. To me, it's about human nature. Plain and simple. Makes me feel honestly that humanity deserves whatever comes next. Four years down the road still terrifies me, just now not for the reasons I was really hoping it would. I believe America's gonna survive another four years of this, but I don't see a light coming at the end of the proverbial tunnel there. And Ukraine -- they don't have nearly that long I'm afraid. Taiwan probably now, too. South Korea's even at much bigger risk now I think, too. Then there's Poland and the rest of Europe that's gonna be under serious pressure once Putin's finished with Ukraine. Can't believe it's gotten to the point where I'm googling to see which countries in Europe have nuclear weapons. What a world.

Just finished taking a little nap. Wanted to savor the little bit of peace and quiet left before the storm of emotions I'm about to pass through tonight. Welp, human race it's show time. Is it merely straddling the abyss or are we jumping on in? Honestly, I'm not really that worried about tonight. It's four years from now that terrifies me. Why? Let's just say it's a feeling. Maybe it's just in my nature to feel that way, but I really hope the Dems pull off the trifecta somehow tonight. The senate though is just such a heavy lift, regardless of how the other stuff winds up, if it's divided government and gridlock for four more years, it worries me. Of course if Trump were to win it would be worse, but I worry the republican party could come up with someone much more capable of not shooting himself in the face and just as devious and dangerous four years down the road. Anyway, crossing my fingers for the best possible outcome tonight. ::straps in for the ride tonight::

What Anime Are You Watching Right Now?
Dark_Cloud_Overhead replied to BUU8800's topic in Anime & Manga
Ghost Stories 5 - 11 I knew there were a lot ghost tales in Japanese folklore from having seen some shows like Yamishibai and Haunted Junction, but didn't realize that there was essentially a boom for them that traced back to a specific set of live-action movies with the same name as this anime that came out back in the mid to late 90s over there. Might have to try and check them out somehow later on.
