I've taught myself to cook during this period and I regret ever touching fast food or diner food.
I had fast food not too long ago and I couldn't actually eat it. So salty and sweet. I've seen vids of people from other countries trying american food and they're met with the same distaste.
General Tso chicken is one of my favorite fast foods I could order, but I always find up feeling bloated and slow an hour or so after the meal. I recently tackled making General Tso from scratch and now I have control over the sweetness, spiciness and crunch. What was once a sugary mess of a meal is now healthy.
