  1. At the very least, Keanu would ensure it was a decent adaptation of the source material. If that we're the case, then I'd be fine with it.
  2. Part of me actually hopes this will happen. I'm not a huge fan of Super and as much as I like DBZ Kai, I already have all of DBZ. To be completely honest, I can't wait for the day when Dragon Ball is gone from Toonami, if that day will ever come.
  3. So to the surprise of absolutely no one, Samurai Jack reruns couldn't carry the block. This, along with the Attack on Titan fiasco three years ago, goes to show that just because a show is really hot in fandom at the time, doesn't mean that it can continue to be hot in reruns. The hype surrounding both Samurai Jack and Attack on Titan was immense, and both shows did well in their initial airings. Rerunning AoT at the top of the block, however, showed that it wasn't able to keep that hype and momentum, and contributed to the decision to cut Toonami in 2015. This appears to be the case with Samurai Jack as well, a case which I think everyone here predicted and expected. I would like to point out, however, that Toonami has said multiple times that the decision to air AoT reruns at the top of the block was not theirs, but Adult Swim's choice. Perhaps the same could be said for Samurai Jack reruns. Maybe (like the theory I've heard around the board) Samurai Jack is a placeholder for something coming soon that will take over the top slot. Maybe Adult Swim doesn't care about the ratings, and just wants to air a freebie show they don't need to pay for. Or maybe they'll learn from their mistakes and pull Jack from the top slot in the coming weeks. Only time will tell. However, unlike 2014, I don't think Toonami is in danger of being cut. Well, not by much, at least. In 2014, it was fun having the block at 6.5 hours, and I really do wish the block could return to that length, but even I have to admit the block was a mess. There were a lot of factors other than the Attack on Titan rerun fiasco that contributed to the block being slashed. Most of those factors aren't present here. The most I see happening is the outright loss of 11:00 PM. It seems that DBS needs to play at 11:30, so I doubt they would lose that, so the block will probably just go back to being 4 hours long. As for the lower ratings as of late, we need to remember that, at the end of the day, Adult Swim is still airing anime because they want to, not because they get stellar ratings. Adult Swim could have gotten rid of all their anime after Bleach ended in 2014, and made it all comedy all the time, and would probably be getting better ratings right now, airing Saturday night marathons of Rick and Morty. As long as the ratings remain decent, I think anime will remain a presence on Adult Swim. These ratings, however, are not decent. Even barring the ratings lost from Jack being rerun, the retention rates are awful. AoT holding less than 80% from DBZ Kai is terrible, and if I had to attribute it to anything, it would have to be the difference in tone between the two shows. Barring the top of the slot rerun, at least everything else manages 80%. Shippuden even gains on Unicorn, which is embarrassing for Unicorn, given how much I like the show, and makes me wonder if Shippuden shouldn't be earlier in the block like it was before.
  4. Much like I said in Jman's thread, this is gonna suck.
  5. If SAO has to be on Toonami, can we just have a return of Oberon? I mean, if I have to sit through more AIDS filled goodness, then I want it to be with the most entertaining thing on the show.
  6. For everything about this that annoys me, it's the fact that her ears aren't the same size pre and post transformation that annoys me the most.
  7. That...actually answers a lot of question about the series. Thanks!
  8. Hello, I'm here to ask you if you've devoted your soul to our lord and savior: (Because it has about as much to do with this thread as this thread does with Toonami :fap: )
  9. If Jon Ritter was Naruto then who would Don Knotts' equivalent be?
  10. I wouldn't go that far. I think it was just terrible.
  11. I'm not a huge fan of sequel series that exist solely to show the adventures of the original characters' kids. I view it as just a cash grab. Boruto is no difference. Perhaps I'll check it out eventually, but definitely not right now. I still need to finish Shippuden, anyway.
  12. I'd have to say that Eureka Seven and JoJo would probably have to be my favorite endings so far. As for worst endings, Dimension W is definitely up there. Akame ga Kill wasn't much better, but it had some sort of closure, so it isn't terrible. I'm still not really a fan of the Samurai Jack ending, but it isn't as bad as it could have been.
  13. Touche, but the fact that Boruto is still up there hurts me a little bit. At least I know I didn't contribute to that.
  14. The top spring anime for Pennsylvania is fucking BORUTO? ... I knew we were all inbred hicks, but I never though we would sink this low.
  15. Sad, there isn't a Five Guys around me, I think. This is what I get for living in rural as fuck Pennsylvania.
  16. Really? We're gonna be like this now? I mean come on. Just because the last 5 minutes of the series weren't really great doesn't mean the rest of the series isn't awesome. All in all, the Samurai Jack revival was a big success, and it deserves to be rerun on Memorial Day, if anything will be. What else would you want them to do? A marathon of Tokyo Ghoul? No, no... They'll be saving that for Halloween weekend [deploys tin foil cap]
  17. So I've discovered. Mochi, you might want to get your drinking under control a little.
  18. Maybe I'll watch. Depends on what I do that night.
  19. Kill la Kill over Sailor Moon? Explain to me how that was a bad thing.
  20. This is why the final being so short is a problem. We never got a chance to touch on anything like that. I guess they did what they could with the time, but looking back, I think the best option would have been to devote episodes 8, 9, and 10 all to the final battle. They could have still had the Jack/Ashi thing going on, but then it wouldn't feel rushed, and they could have touched on some of the little details that were just glossed over in the finale.
  21. I liked the first part of the episode. It was great to see all the people Jack saved come back to try and save him, and it really shows what a difference he made in the future. The return of the Scotsman was awesome, as was Ashi finally being able to control the darkness. The only real problem I had with the first part was pacing issues. Everything happened in FAR too short of a time. This is understandable, given that it had to be limited to 22 minutes, but I really wish they would have had a two part finale. They didn't really do much with any of the people who came to help Jack fight, and even the Scotsman coming back was cut too short. Also, while the Jack coming back to the past and killing Aku was cathartic, it was far too one sided, in my opinion. Aku may have been tired after his initial fight with Jack, but something like this was worthy of being an epic battle between the two. It would have been better to have this be two part episode. The first episode could show most of the fight against Aku in the future, showing him curbstomping the battle, and end with Ashi overcoming the darkness. The second episode could flesh out the rest of it a bit, with some Jack and Ashi vs. Aku, them returning to the past, and Jack and Aku having an epic showdown in the past, with the rest being an epilogue. Now on to the actual ending: I was not a fan of Ashi just disappearing. I knew something was going to happen, especially when they drew the wedding scene out far too long. I even expected it to happen to Ashi; no way they were killing Jack. But even so, the last thing I expected them to do was to bring time travel logic into the series and have Ashi disappear with the reasoning that "the future never happened, so I don't exist." To not mention that the entire series and finally bring it up at the end is an asspull, in my opinion. Even Gurren Laggan, as much as I hate the ending of that show, did it better than here. I also hated it because, in all honesty, I was rooting for a happy ending for Jack. Not just the future being safe, but a personal happy ending for him. After the crap Aku put him through, I definitely think he deserves it. But really, I could have accepted Ashi disappearing if Jack could come to terms with it. That's what I expected him to do when he rode out to the forest. I hoped to see something, like Ashi coming back as a spirit of some kind, and having a final moment with Jack before she fades away. Something that would have been cathartic for both Jack and the audience. I mean, the built up Ashi over the whole of this season, so to just kill her off without some form of closure is wrong. But what we get is Jack looking at a ladybug and feeling better. My best guess is that the ladybug is supposed to be either a reincarnation of Ashi, or something that reminds him of good times with her, but that wasn't enough closure, I think. So, my final analysis: The series lived up to it's hype through the first three quarters, but faltered towards the end, resulting in a series that was pretty damn good, though not as good as it could have been. Looking back on it, I think it was a bad idea making Ashi a love interest for Jack, especially since she just gets killed off in the end anyway. It would have been better off with them just being close, or having a mentor-teacher sort of relationship. But it is what it is, I guess. As for me, I'll just do what I did with Gurren Lagann and pretend the series end just before the female love interest fades away. Incomplete, sure, but it leaves it on a happy ending for me.
