  1. I think the problem with Battle Tendency (and to a lesser extent, Phantom Blood) actually MIGHT be that most people who wanted to see its dub already have it from the mass-produced bare-bones Warner release. That's not the case with Stardust Crusaders; beyond the first 3, which had a limited release on Crunchyroll as a test dub, those WILL be DUB PREMIERES. With One Piece off the block, I'm assuming they'll just keep on truckin' with JoJo for now. It will probably pair a lot better with Tokyo Ghoul than it did with Gundam, which should help its numbers. But still, it is kinda disheartening to look back on this time last year and see that Dimension W was doing over TWICE at times in total viewers what JoJo is doing in that timeslot this year!
  2. In this case, I don't think jack can retain Jack! http://programminginsider.com/ratings/final-nationals/saturday-final-nationals-ncaa-tournament-cbs-tbs-leads-prime-time/ Yeah, that's right. 4. If there's some kind of a clause in the contract that the premiere has to be at 8 PM, I don't understand it, except that presumably parents could show kids DVR-ed episodes from Toonami, rendering an 8 PM encore useless. There's less risk of that with the premiere itself at 8 PM. The simple fix would of course be airing toy ads during the 11:30 PM airing too, but it's unclear that [as] would go for that except under completely bizarre circumstances like how Ben 10 toy ads showed up during Eureka 7!
  5. Yeah, the fact that the 11:30 Super is a rerun of the 8 PM premiere hurts it a little bit, especially because lately the 8 PM premiere hasn't done much better than its predecessor DBZ Kai encores in previous years. I think things would be better all-around if they were switched, and the opportunity to do that might be coming up. Perhaps they air a "goofed-up" premiere episode of Super at 8 PM on April Fool's Day, then the REAL thing at 11:30 during Toonami? Finally, we could see a normal encore of that on April 8th, so that going forward 8 PM is once again an encore instead of a premiere.
  6. Well, first the bad news: Jack was down a bit. The GOOD news though is that all the other cable originals were WAY up! 3/18/2017 Dragon Ball Super (8 PM) - #28 Adults 18-34 Rating - 0.37 Estimated 18-34 - 251,000 ( 31.22% ) Adults 18-49 Rating - 0.29 Estimated 18-49 - 372,000 ( 46.27% ) Total Viewers - 804,000 3/18/2017 Samurai Jack - #5 Adults 18-34 Rating - 0.87 Estimated 18-34 - 591,000 ( 45.46% ) Adults 18-49 Rating - 0.68 Estimated 18-49 - 872,000 ( 67.08% ) Total Viewers - 1,300,000 3/18/2017 DBZ Kai: Final Chapters - #9 Adults 18-34 Rating - 0.64 Estimated 18-34 - 435,000 ( 44.71% ) Adults 18-49 Rating - 0.48 Estimated 18-49 - 615,000 ( 63.21% ) Total Viewers - 973,000 3/18/2017 JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - #11 Adults 18-34 Rating - 0.56 Estimated 18-34 - 381,000 ( 48.23% ) Adults 18-49 Rating - 0.41 Estimated 18-49 - 526,000 ( 66.58% ) Total Viewers - 790,000 3/18/2017 Gundam Unicorn - #15 Adults 18-34 Rating - 0.46 Estimated 18-34 - 313,000 ( 46.10% ) Adults 18-49 Rating - 0.36 Estimated 18-49 - 462,000 ( 68.04% ) Total Viewers - 679,000 The ugly is of course that College Basketball pretty much trashed Toonami to the point that it didn't win any of its timeslots before 1 AM, but it was probably at least #2. However, it's possible that Gundam Unicorn, in its last night at 1 AM, may actually have won its timeslot!
  7. Grab a bucket of the Colonel's chicken and plop your ass down in front of your computer screen and watch some DBZ KFC while eating some KFC this week! Kidding aside, it's episodes 1-5 through Wednesday, probably 6-10 after that. And of course SAO2, which hit the stream last week, goes out not with a bang (unlike Kill la Kill), but with a whimper!
  8. I don't believe ANY Toonami show has EVER accomplished THIS feat before: http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/weekly-ratings/cable-top-25-for-march-6-12-2017/ #24 for the WEEK!! Also, on 3/15/17, Samurai Jack's first rerun got 67% of its premiere audience, 62% in 18-49. But hopefully the 2nd episode of Samurai Jack outdid the first. We'll find out tomorrow!
  9. The leading plan on Twitter is to watch 2 episodes a week prior to Toonami at 10 PM ET on Saturdays and to live-tweet about them then.
  10. I think that's been disproven; it's only the sub. Adult Swim is still streaming every episode but the 3rd. Edit: That's incorrect. Twitter has confirmed that it is in fact the dub. Which means that while Adult Swim retains the rights, the exclusivity clause has expired. It will be interesting going forward to see how [as] handles One-Punch Man. Maybe they're planning to bring it back if One-Punch Man 2 suddenly becomes available?
  11. Let me know how "File.13" is!
  12. Last time I'm watching thru the block now! Funny, the thing that ignited Vegeta's rage in Super was Beerus attacking Bulma, when just 5 minutes before everyone on earth was under the gun! Then on DBZ Kai it's the return of Goku--but not much else happened! Now JoJo is streaming and it's his illusory showdown with Esidisi! Plus Lisa Lisa just revealed that she has the Red Stone of Aja! Gundam Unicorn is streaming now, and this episode is a straight-up visual feast of eye-poppingly awesome explosions!! I'll cut right to the chase--here is how I rank these episodes: #8 Shippuden (2nd worst picture and crap filler plot) #7 Ghost in the Shell (In SD so looks like crap; story is timeless) #6 DBZ Kai Final Chapters #5 Dragon Ball Super #4 One Piece (What a sad tale!) #3 Hunter x Hunter (Feel the RAGE!!) #2 JoJo's Bizarre Adventure #1 Gundam Unicorn
  13. http://programminginsider.com/ratings/final-nationals/wednesday-final-nationals-big-4-nets-share-piece-prime-time-victory/ It dropped a little from American Dad to Bob's Burgers, but not by THAT much!! At least Bob's recovered a bit from Jack's dip! Of course in the week-to-week, Bob still beat the hell out of it, but whatcha gonna do?
  14. I can finally do a Top Ten for this week! #10: Shippuden #09: Sand Whale & Me #08: Ghost In The Shell #07: One Piece #06: Dragonball Super #05: JoJo #04: DBZ KFC #03: Gundam Unicorn #02: Samurai Jack #01: Hunter x Hunter
  15. I've never seen G Gundam and I really should. Seems to me like I would enjoy it as much as I did Gurren Lagann, another crazy, over-the-top mecha show that still managed to have some very mature underlying themes. Damn near a masterpiece, that one! Anyway, I can sort of understand Gundam Unicorn's new position as the 7th show on the lineup. It makes sense if you consider the lineup of 9 shows in groups of 3: Top-Tier Headliners: Samurai Jack; Dragon Ball Super; Dragon Ball Z Kai: The Final Chapters -- The uber-popular "God-tier", probably more popular than any other headlining shows in the past, even Attack on Titan, which is rumored to join this tier after Samurai Jack ends with new dub premiere episodes! They're also friendly enough for kids who stay up and watch them with their parents, though if AOT returns I don't think we can argue that anymore. Mid-block Midcarders: JoJo; Tokyo Ghoul; Hunter x Hunter -- The still popular but less popular level, and kids probably shouldn't be watching these, the true "meat" of Toonami. Mature scenes abound, as every episode of Tokyo Ghoul will probably get a TV-MA and occasionally JoJo and Hunter x Hunter cross the boundary from their blanket TV-14 into TV-MA as well (though the latter does also go TV-PG). End-block "Buried Treasure": Gundam Unicorn; Naruto Shippuden; Ghost In The Shell -- Still popular though their popularity has aged quite a bit, and so have the shows themselves. Also tend to contain a lot of talking and complex politics that might be hard to get into for first timers. As far as content ratings, they all tend to be less mature than the mid-block, but still contain a ton of destruction and wanton loss of human life, especially in the case of Gundam and Ghost.
  16. Doubt it's 1000--I'd say it's a contender (Crystal) to take DBZ Kai's place in 2018!
  17. Watch [as] actually re-animate Togashi's half-dead semi-corpse and produce new world-premiere episodes based on manga storyboarding in 2019! Hey, not bad for my LEET post! (#1337) But wait, I can do better... Is "" the new ""???...?
  18. Was Baise the Esdeath wannabe voiced by Carrie?
  19. Sucks to be that guy! This episode sucked...and yet it was totally awesome! [get it?]
  20. I'd say One Piece's next best chance is when DBZ Kai's ending. It's uncertain if JoJo is taking a break, but recent signs seem to point to "no!"
  21. Even IF you never know what part of the song you're gonna get in the 1 minute 30 second ED at the end of each episode? BTW, here's that count so far: Beginning - 14x (1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19) Breakdown - 2x (14, 21) Solo - 2x (15, 20) (also used as BGM in the training montage in 16, but that's not the ED) Ending - 3x (5, 8, 16) Edit: I had misclassified 13 as ending with the end of "Roundabout;" it was in fact the beginning!
  22. You're missing a "9."... Well, IMO, anyway.
  23. Yeah, it IS letterboxed! They kinda screwed this up! ...or maybe this is right and 1-6 were too "stretchy" or actually cut off the left and right sides of the screen?
  24. If he HAD a mouth... ...oh wait, he actually DOES have a mouth! Goodbye, OP; ON to GITS!
  25. I like that this show got new bumpers, but they could have been a little more final. Let's see what they do in the return from commercial...
