  5. SHOWTIME!!! Let's see what comes out of the panel... No news on Toonami continuing with the series, but Viz is rereleasing it on DVD/BD in a special new Limited Edition package! And apparently there was a preview for Diamond is Unbreakable? That doesn't even make sense! (I guess that's what "PV" stands for?) ["stands"--Get it?]
  6. The Anime Boston panel is at 4 PM ET today. News on JoJo's fate on Toonami COULD be coming in less than an hour!!
  7. Jack did the best it's done yet on Wednesday night! http://programminginsider.com/ratings/final-nationals/wednesday-final-nationals-imaginary-mary-abc-matches-second-highest-rated-midseason-comedy-debut-adults-18-49/ That's 1112K total viewers and a 0.53 18-49. I'm not at a computer to check this, but I think that might be over 700K 18-49... Edit: Nope--about 680K. Still awesome!
  8. That would certainly explain WHY it's showing up in the Toonami Tumblr this week then. So, enjoy your 2:30 AM "Crowjob" this Saturday night, boys and girls! [complete with sound then]
  9. Well that's just straight-up bizarre! Also, I think they stopped referring to Shippuden as "uncut" when it fell to 2 AM 2 years ago!
  10. Trending also did damn good! http://toonamifaithful.com/toonami-trending-rundown-for-march-25-26-2017/ Every show back at #1 in the U.S. (Toonami #3), plus all except Jack #10 worldwide, and Jack #9!

Meanwhile, Tokyo Ghoul may have just saved Hunter x Hunter from falling below 500K 18-49 on average if it can keep this up!
  12. Well folks, it's official: we have a new high for the year 2017!! http://programminginsider.com/ratings/final-nationals/saturday-final-nationals-tbs-dominates-night-ncaa-elite-8-doubleheader/ TOTAL VIEWERS RETENTION 8:00 PM Dragon Ball Super 821,000 10:30 PM Family Guy 1,273,000 11:00 PM Samurai Jack 1,352,000 (106.21%) 11:30 PM Dragon Ball Super 1,066,000 (78.85%) 12:00 AM Sand Whale & Me 1,018,000 (95.50%) 12:05 AM DBZ Kai: The Final Chapters 1,074,000 (105.50%) 12:30 AM JoJo's Bizarre Adventure 938,000 (87.34%) 1:00 AM Tokyo Ghoul 879,000 (93.71%) 1:30 AM Hunter × Hunter 805,000 (91.58%) 2:00 AM Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn 720,000 (89.44%) 2:30 AM Naruto: Shippuden 643,000 (89.31%) 3:00 AM Ghost In The Shell HD 499,000 (77.60%) TOTAL VIEWERS AVERAGE - 885,185 That beats the previous high of 881K from a month ago (2/25/17). Also, note that DBZ Kai FC actually BEAT the Toonami airing of DB Super for once and of course continued to gain markedly on Sandwhale and me. These trends are only more pronounced when you consider the 18-49 ratings: ADULTS 18-49 RETENTION 8:00 PM Dragon Ball Super 442,000 10:30 PM Family Guy 773,000 11:00 PM Samurai Jack 852,000 (110.22%) 11:30 PM Dragon Ball Super 652,000 (76.53%) 12:00 AM Sand Whale & Me 661,000 (101.38%) 12:05 AM DBZ Kai: The Final Chapters 694,000 (104.99%) 12:30 AM JoJo's Bizarre Adventure 650,000 (93.66%) 1:00 AM Tokyo Ghoul 570,000 (87.69%) 1:30 AM Hunter × Hunter 526,000 (92.28%) 2:00 AM Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn 478,000 (90.87%) 2:30 AM Naruto: Shippuden 407,000 (85.15%) 3:00 AM Ghost In The Shell HD 302,000 (74.20%) ADULTS 18-49 TOONAMI AVERAGE - 569,500 That average shatters the previous record for 2017 set last week and is actually the first time in 2017 that Toonami managed to beat 2016's 18-49 average across all timeslots of 531K! Also, note that Kai also beat Super in 18-49 and gained about the same on Sand Whale and Me, and Samurai Jack is a freaking BEAST, gaining more than 10% over its Family Guy lead-in, eclipsing it for the 3rd time in a row! Hopefully things only get better from here!
  13. Somehow I believe Toonami will come through on that, even if Battle Tendency isn't doing as well as they had hoped.
  14. Well OK then. The question is, would a minor recast such as this reclassify Episodes 1-3 of Stardust Crusaders as dub premieres?
  15. Yes, coincidence. That show was on at 2:30 AM and wouldn't even affect anything at 2 AM that much, let alone 1 AM! Ghoul IS an improvement over Gundam at 1 AM though. Between the last 10 episodes of IBO Season 1 and the first 11 of Unicorn, it has averaged 319K 18-34, 478K 18-49, and 813K total viewers. Compare that to Ghoul's first episode's 408K 18-34, 564K (estimated) 18-49, and 879K overall. In fact, in its first week, Tokyo Ghoul has already done what Unicorn couldn't do--crack 400K 18-34, and in fact broken its personal best in 18-34 by 55K and 18-49 by about 40K. However, that being said, IBO still has the edge on it at 12:30 AM. So IBO Season 2 might still be considered the more valuable property if and when it arrives after Unicorn. I guess we'll see.
  16. That's going back a long time, almost 5 years, but I do believe that's true! The "Lucky 7's" turned out not to be, and while Thundercats 2011 would eventually crack a million a few times at 1 AM, it would first languish at 2:30 AM for like a month! These days it seems like the Midnight Hour is OK to be under a million as long as that doesn't happen to the 11 AM hour. But if Stardust Crusaders is destined to replace Battle Tendency, hopefully those episodes will do what Battle Tendency couldn't (so far) and crack a million, and that will spill over into Tokyo Ghoul (and maybe even beyond!)
  17. Good news, everyone! http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/articles/showbuzzdailys-top-150-saturday-cable-originals-network-finals-3-25-2017.html 3/25/2017 Dragon Ball Super (8 PM) - #15 (+13) Adults 18-34 Rating - 0.39 Estimated 18-34 - 265,000 ( 32.28% ) Adults 18-49 Rating - 0.34 Estimated 18-49 - 436,000 ( 53.11% ) Total Viewers - 821,000 3/25/2017 Samurai Jack - #6 (-1) Adults 18-34 Rating - 0.88 Estimated 18-34 - 598,000 ( 44.23% ) Adults 18-49 Rating - 0.66 Estimated 18-49 - 846,000 ( 62.57% ) Total Viewers - 1,352,000 3/25/2017 DBZ Kai: Final Chapters - #8 (+1) Adults 18-34 Rating - 0.69 Estimated 18-34 - 469,000 ( 43.67% ) Adults 18-49 Rating - 0.54 Estimated 18-49 - 692,000 ( 64.43% ) Total Viewers - 1,074,000 3/25/2017 JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - #9 (+2) Adults 18-34 Rating - 0.67 Estimated 18-34 - 455,000 ( 48.51% ) Adults 18-49 Rating - 0.51 Estimated 18-49 - 654,000 ( 69.72% ) Total Viewers - 938,000 3/25/2017 Tokyo Ghoul - #11 (DEBUT) Adults 18-34 Rating - 0.6 Estimated 18-34 - 408,000 ( 46.42% ) Adults 18-49 Rating - 0.44 Estimated 18-49 - 564,000 ( 64.16% ) Total Viewers - 879,000 3/25/2017 Gundam Unicorn - #14 (+1) Adults 18-34 Rating - 0.53 Estimated 18-34 - 360,000 ( 50.00% ) Adults 18-49 Rating - 0.38 Estimated 18-49 - 487,000 ( 67.64% ) Total Viewers - 720,000 Pretty strong debut for Tokyo Ghoul. Not over a million, but a 0.6 18-34 in that timeslot has to be considered decent these days. Samurai Jack shed 0.02 in Adults 18-49 but everything else gained over last week. Even Gundam Unicorn at 2 AM continued its slow but steady upswing out of its valley 2 weeks ago, even though it was an hour later! A 0.53 18-34 at 2 AM is pretty damn good! Unfortunately, it's still a far cry from what these shows were doing 3-4 weeks ago when Family Guy was at 11 PM instead of Samurai Jack, (let alone what the block was doing 1 or 2 years ago), but as long as things continue to swing upward, it's a win in my book!
  18. I don't remember that, because of course I only watched it once, and on the same night Space Dandy Season 2 premiered, but you might be right.
  19. As of 12:30 AM tonight (3/27/17), it's been replaced by the Cleveland Show. Well, that was fun while it lasted! And I managed to get 13 of the episodes on my DVR during its very limited 3-week run!
  20. Well, it was once hailed as one of the most reliable sources for information on anime! But yeah, it has gotten quite a bit less reliable in recent years!
  21. This is true, but we got Gundam Unicorn episodes playing right now that were dubbed even longer ago than that! The newest part of those episodes is probably the narrator, since I don't believe the OVAs contained any narration. Besides, I really don't believe that going from an episode that was recorded in 2014 to one that was recorded in 2017 would be all THAT jarring! Gundam Unicorn, like Hellsing Ultimate, has a few episodes each recorded in different years, and they don't seem to sound all that different! The transition from Hellsing Ultimate 4 (dubbed in 2008) to 5 (dubbed in 2012) was actually 4 years, believe it or not! Was it really all that noticeable in the Toonami broadcast? The same would be true of JoJo going from the last episode of the test dub (3) to the first "new" episode (4). In fact, the transition would be much shorter (not quite 3 years), so it would probably be even less noticeable. So I believe there will be no need to redub the test dub episodes as long as they use the same voice actors!
  22. I guess Anime News Network missed a few appearances, then! In other news, I want to try to do an Unevenedge rewatch of Battle Tendency during the month of April (while Adult Swim is still streaming the episodes) leading up to the season finale on April 22nd! It would be a thorough examination of each episode, capturing the Japanese on-screen action text and translating it!
  23. No, I meant his appearance at Anime Boston isn't part of the panel or other events dealing with JoJo, he's just also there. If it's a panel featuring him, Seitz, and JoJo's Japanese director, that would be something to do with JoJo...
  24. You mean do I think they'll be redubbed different from the test dub on Crunchyroll? I suppose so, even if they use the same voice actors. But I really don't see why they wouldn't just use the test dubs; those are pretty good! Maybe we get a different narrator?
  25. So nothing to do with JoJo? Well alrighty then.
