what could toonami be like In January?

April Fools' Day 2023: Heavily Censored Scat Hentai! 💩 -
I suppose that's true. But as far as I know, the dubs aren't available to stream yet. But this is really not that different from the first season. It streamed for 6 months before it finally got a dub premiere on Toonami! If they DO bring it to the block in January 2022, it will be half the time, and most of that will have been movie rehashes anyway. Another possibility is he's not even referring to a current situation, but something that happened with the original acquisition in 2019. But I guess we'll probably never know for sure.
-
At least with Demon Slayer there's a pretty safe bet that it will be relevant for a while. But as I said previously more verbosely, I believe this is more an acknowledgement of the trouble they had not picking it up in 2021, which has led to at least double shows on every "normal" lineup since early October, than an admission of defeat for 2022.
-
Exactly. The "Freeze-out" could refer only to how much money they were putting up for the TV rights while it is still 2021; in 2022 when the budget resets, it's possible the freeze-out ends because they're able to afford it again. Another possibility I see is that it COULD have prevented episodes of Season 2 that recap the movie from airing earlier in 2021. It's not a coincidence that they've doubled up on new shows like MHA, Blade Runner, and Yashahime since November. If the original plan was to bring Demon Slayer Season 2 on in early November, which isn't that far-fetched since most of the dubbing (which was in the movie) is already done, then the tweet is in response to the frustration DeMarco felt by not being able to air Demon Slayer Season 2 earlier, not that Toonami will never air it. This is not the same as the admission of defeat that he made over losing JoJo. I realize I'm probably being overly optimistic, but I hope I'm right. We've got what most likely will be the last "normal" lineup of 2021 this weekend, with 6 different shows, though 3 Yashahimes in one night is anything but normal. And of course this was probably caused in part by the Demon Slayer "Freeze-out"!

Also, if that's the case except for their originals and Viz stuff Netflix didn't seem all that interested in like Yashahime and Naruto Shippuden, maybe they can get by airing horrid old crap from Central Park Media like Syfy did during the darkest days of Ani-Monday in like January 2010? Reign the Conqueror, anyone?? Or, there's always Boruto. Wonder if they can get back to the negotiation table for that?? Would be better than nothing!

Just one show was eligible, and it made it, but DAMN, women weren't watching!! https://showbuzzdaily.com/articles/showbuzzdailys-saturday-12-4-2021-top-150-cable-originals-network-finals.html This performance makes me believe it was actually Yashahime which carried that key demographic, because in its absence, female watchers dropped off HARD! Towa a stronger lead than Elle; go figure! Edit: oddly enough, we do have numbers for the 3 AM hour in the update: "On Adult Swim, DR STONE dropped 0.02 to 0.06/109K, and DRAGON BALL was down 0.02 to 0.05/113K." That's really not too shabby since the premiere was only at 0.09/218K.

Dr. Stone Season 2 "Stone Wars" Re-Run Discussion
OwlChemist81 replied to DangerMouse's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
Crap. Hate that I couldn't stay up for this one, but it MIGHT replay this week... -
But if you miss it at Midnight, you get another chance to watch at 2:30 AM, and then if for some ungodly reason you miss THAT, you get yet another chance to catch it at 2 AM this Friday, and I'm sure that won't be the last time. So, delve once again into Elle's epic sci-fi cyberpunk world, because if you watch [as] on the weekends, it's frankly getting pretty hard to avoid it. "ONLY" Toonami!? Yeah, right...
-
Don't think I'd mind that, but AOT probably isn't coming out with the 2nd half of Season 2 dubbed until February, so it might not make much sense to do a Christmas marathon!
-
YOU GOT IT! TESTICLES 4 ERRBODY!! 🤪🍻😜 ...except of course Sketch. Can't bring myself to "teabag" him!!
-
I guess the question now becomes "what does Toonami do with 12/25, Christmas night?" Will they be bold enough to premiere an episode of Blade Runner: Black Lotus that night? And if so, what after it? A marathon of gen:Lock Season 1 would certainly be interesting to catch us up if Season 2 is coming on 1/1/22, even if it has to be edited for time and content like Season 1 was. I wonder what power Toonami has to re-acquire Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz, though that happens on Christmas Eve?
-
We really don't know, because [as] Toonami has, believe it or not, NEVER been on 1/1 before. The last time New Year's Eve happened on a Friday and New Year's Day on a Saturday was 2010-11, and Toonami was off the air then. However, what we DO know is on 1/1/11, [as] DID air premieres of Bleach and Kekkaishi: https://sites.google.com/site/swimpediaiscoming/adult-swim-schedules/2011 So, apparently Toonami doing something similar on 1/1/22 is NOT off the table. CN, in fact, is premiering 10 Episodes of We Bare Baby Bears! I would expect Toonami to follow suit by airing a normal lineup with multiple premieres!

Kiss my nuts. Enjoy that upside-down heart I just gave you, which is in fact as the "❤" symbol was not intended to be the blood-pumping organ in our chests but an upside-down pair of testicles, at least according to Cracked.

They've done something like that before. Dragon Ball Super, DBZ Kai Final Chapters, and Gundam Unicorn all debuted on 1/7/17. They could choose to do something similar for 1/1/22 or 1/8/22.

They're not "rushing to finish Yashahime." It's ending right on time as the final episode will be acquired. My theory, that they can only air one episode of certain shows a week, but can either choose to air that episode on the date it was originally scheduled or at a later date, seems to be correct. It might even be more explicitly stated that they "acquire" them by the episode, one episode a week. Here's the effect that had/will have on Yashahime, though I have posted something similar it in another thread on here. Episodes 1-15: Acquired and aired on consecutive weeks from 6/26 to 10/9. Episode 16: Acquired on 10/16 but not aired due to Batman Ninja/Red Hood; aired 11/6 instead. Episode 17: Acquired on 10/23 but not aired due to Batman: Long Halloween; aired 11/13 instead. Episode 18: Acquired on 10/30 but not aired due to Fena marathon; aired 11/20 instead. Episode 19: Acquired on 11/6 but not aired due to Episode 16; aired 11/20 instead. Episode 20: Acquired on 11/13 but not aired due to Episode 17; aired 11/27 instead. Episode 21: Acquired on 11/20 but not aired due to Episodes 18 & 19; aired 11/27 instead. Episode 22: Acquired on 11/27 but not aired due to Episodes 20 & 21; still unaired. Episode 23: Will be acquired on 12/4 Episode 24: Will be acquired on 12/11 So, by airing 22-24 back-to-back-to-back, they'll essentially be clearing out their backlog of acquired episodes, as well as airing the episode they acquired that day. I don't have any problem with this, because the show has aired in all 3 timeslots at some point during its run. The week that Fena had an hour-long premiere, Yashahime aired at 1:30 AM. That was Episode 8, BTW. It almost makes sense that Episode 24 is in the same timeslot. BTW, they have done this sort of thing before. Remember SAO Alicization? Episode 6 aired on 3/16/19, but glitched. They re-aired it with no glitch on 3/23, but they apparently also acquired Episode 7 that day. The following week (3/30), Episodes 7 & 8 aired. But then Toonami apparently had to put in an audible to Aniplex to be able to air both 9 & 10 together on 4/6 to be able to air those two episodes together, with 10 airing a little ahead of schedule, so why couldn't they do that with Yashahime this year in order for it to air on 12/4? Different contracts written differently, I guess.

OwlChemist81 replied to CountFrylock's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
I don't think we'll get AOT FInal Season Part 2 in January. I believe it will probably replace Blade Runner in Mid-February instead. Demon Slayer? Beats the hell out of me. We waited 6 months for the first season to premiere. We'll get it in Early 2022, but that may mean April. -
Maybe the premiere of Season 2? Perhaps THAT?? Perhaps Food Wars 5th Plate??? Ass Class Season 2???? Freakin' gen:LOCK?!?! I mean, use your imagination! Would you rather have seen a rerun marathon on Dec. 11? Between Blade Runner: Black Lotus, Yashahime, and Animatrix, December is turning out to be a Month of Movies AND Marathons!!
