been kinda busy on the project, but now i'm back off vacation and working at the bank. also, carpenter took a small vaca with his family for the first half of the week, so we haven't done much in the last few days. i grabbed a couple pics yesterday before getting started on electrical last night. rest of the wall panels are going up tomorrow, and the tin for the roof should be delivered today and installed tomorrow as well. i'll be (hopefully) finishing electrical over the weekend. plumbing should also be roughed in by the weekend. then next week, we're building the walk-in cooler and going to try pouring a concrete bar top. if all goes well, we should be finishing interior walls as well. then the week after that will be reserved for painting and decoration. anticipated soft opening is 7/5. if we can't hit that mark, we'll push back the opening by another week. it's getting close now. finally.

first piss of the day is always sitting down because i never know if it's gonna end there or turn into a poop. otherwise, it's just more convenient to stand. takes less time, requires less effort, and it gives me an excuse to handle my johnson for a few seconds, which is always a plus.

ugh, lots of death going on lately. there was the guy who shot his girlfriend, which i mentioned a few posts back. learned more of the story since then. she apparently went to his house to break up with him. as she was walking out the back door, he pulled out a pistol and blew the back of her head off. then tried to take one under the chin for himself, but mis-calculated i suppose, and blew out the front of his jaw. bullet came to rest in his nasal cavity. he's gonna live...til he hangs himself in his cell anyways. then there's my neighbor. his girlfriend was having some issues with ...i think, blood clots or something. she'd had surgery to have a couple removed in the past, no big deal. well a couple weeks ago, she was having it done again, and something went wrong. she ended up in a coma. when they tried to bring her back out, she was brain-dead. girl was like 26 years old. her kid played t-ball with mine. she died last week. and one of our sales reps at the bar. his 21yo son ate a bullet in his car at the hardees parking lot a couple weeks ago. no idea what led to that. sales rep is (obviously) taking it hard. i won't be surprised if he ends shit too. and then last night my mom called. her mother is gonna go any day now. alzheimers has worked her over for 10+ years, and it's finally gonna finish the job. they don't expect her to make it to the end of the week. probably for the best though. my mom and her sisters have been dealing with a crazy person every day for the last 3 years, and now they'll get to stop doing that. as much as it sucks, it's gotta be a big relief for them. this month can eat shit sandies.

Not sure where else to post something like this. So my wife got a call a bit ago. A buddy of ours killed his girlfriend tonight. Then he called another friend of his and told him what he had done. By the time the other guy got there, dude had already shot himself too. Apparently he missed though; only blew a hole in the side of his face, and is now on his way to the hospital. At least her kid wasn't at home. I don't fucking understand people anymore.

Also, sorry @Admin_Raptorpat but it was apparently a joke, and one that doesn't even make sense to me at this point.

I've been drinking frozen daiquiris and pina coladas for the last 2 nights. I'm sure this is how I will die.

roof trusses are up. we bought the hardware store out of t111 panels, so we didn't get much done with the walls beyond a little bracing. had the sheathing for the roof delivered as well, and it should be going up in the morning. we cut the day short because the plumbers came back to tie into the sewer main, and they're too in-the-way to do much of anything. took a couple more pics for progress updates. this is kinda confusing without a floor plan handy, but it's where we left off for the day. and the stage, which has been finished for a week and is now doubling as storage until we get some more work done. this will be sealed and painted before we open, and probably also get some sheathing on the interior walls/ceiling eventually. might wait until we install a house sound / lighting system in the off-season. i'm not 100% on the stair design because it sticks out and kinda ruins the whole "clean face" idea i was working towards, but it's hiding a concrete fail and nothing about this project has turned out 100% how i've envisioned it. close enough, i guess. we're off tomorrow afternoon to the state capital to resubmit our liquor license application in person (the bastardos denied our mail-in app last week because the cert of insurance wasn't valid until 6/22, so we had the agent re-print it with an effective date of 6/10). we should be returning with a live license in-hand, ready to start building inventory. also, we're picking up a frozen cocktail machine i found on ebay while we're in town. over the next couple weeks, we'll be testing recipes in that bad mofo at home. this job definitely has perks.

with all this booze, my blood might be too thin for that procedure tonight. come back in the morning afternoon.

been rocking the flip flops all day since it's sunday and i'm still on vacation. we were at the in-laws this afternoon, and wife decided we needed to dig up some of her mom's ferns to transplant along our house. of course, i was handed the spade to do the digging. well, stepping on that god damn shovel with flip flops is about as safe as doing it with bare feet. at one point i kinda jumped on it because the ground was hard, and i felt something in the bridge of my foot go POP. kinda hurt, but i'm a fucking man and i wasn't about to wimp out. well, as the day and now evening has progressed, my foot is swelling up on the bottom, and it's getting kinda sore to walk on. my toes don't touch the ground on that foot when i stand up. and if i push on shit in just the right spot, it fucking stings. no bruising ... yet. can't wait to see where we are in the morning. i have another week of vacation left, and i'll be god damned if i'm gonna spend it wearing a boot. but i'm not sure i'll be able to put a shoe on at the rate it's swelling up. oh well, the beer is still tasting good. it's the little things.

i think what packard calls "seniority" is actually just "senior citizen" status.

nothing much new in the last couple days. put up the header across the north wall and added top plate on friday. also got electrical wired and turned on (finally), which is nice because now we don't have to run ac cords across the alley to the bar every day. built 19 truss (trusses? trussing?) this morning and quit early. depending on weather and mood, we may put up the truss tomorrow. probably gonna wait til monday though. we've also been on a slow shopping spree lately. picked up some light fixtures and a POS (going with square for now because i'm lazy in that regard). got 3 new tv's and a small sound system for house entertainment. also nabbed a sweet wall plate with drip tray for the draft setup...quite possibly my favorite purchase of this whole thing so far. i mean, damn that's sexy.

i feel like this has something to do with patrick...
-
personally yes, but under direction of the carpenter. we've been friends for years, and it's just the two of us working on this part. i have enough knowledge to be useful, plus i'm on vacation anyways and he doesn't have anyone else helping him. and i don't have to pay myself for the labor, which is a nice break.
-
In front of the bar, restrooms to the left. Entry from the alley. Bar to the left, restrooms to the right. I never got a picture of the stage so maybe I'll remember to do that tomorrow. We finished the deck Tuesday and then stood up these walls over the last 2 days. Tomorrow we're building truss and hopefully tossing them up on top. After these last few days, I'm reminded how old and out of shape I am. It's not pretty.
-
we got the deck *almost* done yesterday. still need to finish the stairs and add the skirt. we also had a lot of the lumber delivered for the rest of the project. i got begged to go back into the bank today because they're super short-handed so here i am at my desk, instead of on my 2 week vacation. it kinda works out i guess, because the carpenter was taking a half day off this morning for a doctor visit, and he'll be picking up some hardware we still need for later this week. and i'm adding a day or two to the back end of my vacation. if the rain holds off, we should have all the walls up by the end of this week. we're forecast to get 3" of rain thru the weekend. tropical threat "Invest 91L" is gonna make a mess across the central third of the country this week/end. can't catch a break.

stage design had to be changed a bit because the concrete wasn't formed up per the dimensions i gave them. it's a minor adjustment really, and i'm almost happier with the changes than i was with the original design. my carpenter is a good dude. he picked up my suggestion to change the design and got right to work on it. he's working on a saturday because he didn't have anything else to do today, according to him. we should be done with the stage deck now on monday. good stuff.

woke up and got stuff ready for the youngest boy's birthday breakfast. did that thing. went to work. did lots of work stuff. went on lunch break, stopped at the bar to grab some paperwork. went home, ate lunch, played with the boys for a bit. went back to work. did more work stuff. skipped out for a minute to pick up new staff shirts from the printer. back to work. more work stuff. got everything ready for me to be on vacation for the next two weeks. that brings me to this moment. then after work (10 minutes from now), going home to help wife get the house ready for the birthday party. hosting birthday party. then probably dinner and playing with the boys for a couple hours. then put them to bed, crack open a couple big beers, and work on our next yt video for a couple hours. crash out after that.
-
all done with them seemint fellers as of this morning. now the focus turns to structures. that contractor is coming in around noon today with some materials, and we're gonna map out the next couple weeks of work. since i'll be on bank vacation for that whole time, we're gonna hit it as hard as we can. we just might get this thing open on time after all...

I wish we had artesian wells. My parents have one back North. Everyone around here is hooked up to the Mississippi River. It's exactly as good as you'd expect.
-
Retired for maybe 20 years, but yeah. The lot it stands on was bought up a few years ago by a local non-profit, restored (exterior), and designated as a local landmark for whatever reason. Personally, I think it's a crushing death just waiting to happen, but I guess it looks kinda cool from 50 yards away. This is the whole thing, from outside my office door at the bank.

it's raining concrete from outta the truck concrete that grey goopy muck how much does it cost we don't give a fuck IT'S RAINING CONCRETE! so they're pouring the slab right now. also, my boys really like that raining tacos song. this seemed like a good way to squash that ear bug.
-
we're probably going to leave the concrete exposed for now. i expect we'll seal the interior floors, but as far as the entire slab goes, that's a conversation i've yet to have with the contractor. at any rate, the rest of the slab was formed up today and is scheduled to be poured tomorrow, weather permitting. fucking FINALLY.
