  1. i feel like this has something to do with patrick...
  2. personally yes, but under direction of the carpenter. we've been friends for years, and it's just the two of us working on this part. i have enough knowledge to be useful, plus i'm on vacation anyways and he doesn't have anyone else helping him. and i don't have to pay myself for the labor, which is a nice break.
  3. In front of the bar, restrooms to the left. Entry from the alley. Bar to the left, restrooms to the right. I never got a picture of the stage so maybe I'll remember to do that tomorrow. We finished the deck Tuesday and then stood up these walls over the last 2 days. Tomorrow we're building truss and hopefully tossing them up on top. After these last few days, I'm reminded how old and out of shape I am. It's not pretty.
  4. we got the deck *almost* done yesterday. still need to finish the stairs and add the skirt. we also had a lot of the lumber delivered for the rest of the project. i got begged to go back into the bank today because they're super short-handed so here i am at my desk, instead of on my 2 week vacation. it kinda works out i guess, because the carpenter was taking a half day off this morning for a doctor visit, and he'll be picking up some hardware we still need for later this week. and i'm adding a day or two to the back end of my vacation. if the rain holds off, we should have all the walls up by the end of this week. we're forecast to get 3" of rain thru the weekend. tropical threat "Invest 91L" is gonna make a mess across the central third of the country this week/end. can't catch a break.
  5. stage design had to be changed a bit because the concrete wasn't formed up per the dimensions i gave them. it's a minor adjustment really, and i'm almost happier with the changes than i was with the original design. my carpenter is a good dude. he picked up my suggestion to change the design and got right to work on it. he's working on a saturday because he didn't have anything else to do today, according to him. we should be done with the stage deck now on monday. good stuff.
  6. woke up and got stuff ready for the youngest boy's birthday breakfast. did that thing. went to work. did lots of work stuff. went on lunch break, stopped at the bar to grab some paperwork. went home, ate lunch, played with the boys for a bit. went back to work. did more work stuff. skipped out for a minute to pick up new staff shirts from the printer. back to work. more work stuff. got everything ready for me to be on vacation for the next two weeks. that brings me to this moment. then after work (10 minutes from now), going home to help wife get the house ready for the birthday party. hosting birthday party. then probably dinner and playing with the boys for a couple hours. then put them to bed, crack open a couple big beers, and work on our next yt video for a couple hours. crash out after that.
  7. all done with them seemint fellers as of this morning. now the focus turns to structures. that contractor is coming in around noon today with some materials, and we're gonna map out the next couple weeks of work. since i'll be on bank vacation for that whole time, we're gonna hit it as hard as we can. we just might get this thing open on time after all...
  8. I wish we had artesian wells. My parents have one back North. Everyone around here is hooked up to the Mississippi River. It's exactly as good as you'd expect.
  9. Retired for maybe 20 years, but yeah. The lot it stands on was bought up a few years ago by a local non-profit, restored (exterior), and designated as a local landmark for whatever reason. Personally, I think it's a crushing death just waiting to happen, but I guess it looks kinda cool from 50 yards away. This is the whole thing, from outside my office door at the bank.
  10. Wife sent me a pic.
  11. it's raining concrete from outta the truck concrete that grey goopy muck how much does it cost we don't give a fuck IT'S RAINING CONCRETE! so they're pouring the slab right now. also, my boys really like that raining tacos song. this seemed like a good way to squash that ear bug.
  12. we're probably going to leave the concrete exposed for now. i expect we'll seal the interior floors, but as far as the entire slab goes, that's a conversation i've yet to have with the contractor. at any rate, the rest of the slab was formed up today and is scheduled to be poured tomorrow, weather permitting. fucking FINALLY.
  13. you say that like it's a bad thing. *can absolutely polish off 18 light lagers in the right setting. maybe only 6 of the good stuff though.
  14. It's been teasing us all night, but just won't stick it in there. I can see it on the horizon.
  15. zeni also zeni, same post oy
  16. the finish looks real good so far. going smooth in the bar because i want to be able to squeegee it off, plus it will have work mats on it. the bathrooms are going to remain exposed for now, but i'm not opposed to laying something down in there if it needs it.
  17. damn, DROPPING that knowledge. they've already pulled off some of the forms and it looks like they've done a decent amount of finishing as well. i went by a little bit ago but they were at lunch. the rain (and another tornado) missed us to the north by about 30 miles so we're in the clear again until maybe around 6-8pm.
  18. the slab is only 3-4". i don't know the other factors. i did ask this morning if they were concerned about weather, and they were quick to say no. so
  19. the forecast says it's supposed to hold off til after 4pm. that means it will probably start in 10 minutes. *looks at radar* yeap, about ten minutes.
  20. It's going down this morning, weather be damned. Poured the bar and working on the restrooms as we speak.
  21. i was telling someone else here that it feels like you have a bit of radiation poisoning yourself after watching. haven't seen ep3 yet, maybe tonight if we can finish up our youtube edits.
  22. i mean, there's no end in sight and it's already been ongoing for the last week, so...
  23. cement trucks aren't available til friday now, so they're forming up some more today and pouring tomorrow if weather allows. we've had rain every night this week, including a tornado that slid just north of town last night, so everything's pretty saturated. supposed to rain again tonight and tomorrow, but if it's not too bad we'll get something done anyways. can't wait for the wet season to wind down. it's been a bitch of a spring.
  24. tornado sirens. the damn tornado is like 10 miles north and moving away. is it totally necessary to blow those damn things for 30 minutes after the storm has passed?
  25. check that. pouring the buildings *possibly* today, if they can get the cement trucks to show up. otherwise, tomorrow. then forming up the rest probably tomorrow/friday and pouring early next week. might have to get some pics to see if scoob and cracky approve
