it's looking like a beer again today. just might sneak away with something drinkable after all on this one. we'll tx to a keg tonight and carb it up, should be ready to drink by the weekend. hope it doesn't start growing something in the meantime... -

Tried to cold crash this morning. Somehow the fermenter got air-locked and sucked all the water out of the blowoff bucket. When I got home this afternoon, my poor lovely beer had a layer of (thankfully sanitized) water on top of it. And lord knows how much o2 got in there. Anyways, I pulled out as much as I could and transferred it to another fermenter, reset everything, and continued with the cold crash. Hopefully the batch didn't pick up a bug while it was exposed to atmosphere. Shame, it smelled reeeeeally good and it could be ruined now. We'll see what it looks/smells like tomorrow when it's time to keg it up. -

strawberry rhubarb is hard (even moreso than other new glarus beers) to come by if you're outside wisconsin. my favorite fruited beer from them is probably the wisconsin belgian red. so much flavor. i have a co-worker's uncle mule me some every time he comes down to visit, at $75/case. but i'm here to post that i'm drinking a toppling goliath king sue. picked up a case this week from distribution. and it's part of the shit batch. damn. -
reserved a gmail account for the boy several years ago. he's old enough for a phone now, so i activate a new line and give him the email address. then i sign up for google family link so i can control / review his use. the app asks me to update the account holder info, so i do. he's <13 and when i put his birthdate in, the app locks down and says the email is disabled because user has to be >13. except the point of google family link is that users can be <13. so i hop on support and they flat refuse to help me recover the account. so the email i reserved years ago is gone forever. ok, what the fuck ever. so i create a new email address and set his phone up with it. uh-oh, google fi won't activate to that email because it's not where that line was registered. "please sign in with the email registered to this line." yeah about that ... YOU FUCKING DISABLED IT. so here i am, 3 hours into tech support hell. finally got escalation to a "specialist" (sure, whatever). they spent 10 minutes reading the case history and finally responded "i think you were sent to the wrong department. let me redirect you." that was 10 minutes ago now...

i hope "spear" is a cute name for something with a caliber in its description. ~~~ i really enjoy when the only other two people in this bank who can handle tech support for online banking are both gone at the same time. especially when it seems like everyone is having online banking issues today. glad i don't have all of my next week's work to get done in advance, since i'll be in another office all next week, covering my direct super while she's on vacation. good day, skeeter.

dry-hopped that little beast last night. it smelled gooooood. -
and after the rain, all that's gonna happen is the humidity will spike and it will get even HOTTER outside. love those upper-midwest summers.

so after sending an email each of the last 4 mondays to the state concerning the timeline on our grant app that they were supposed to decide upon by june 19, i finally got an email back yesterday. their response? "wait at least 2 more weeks." and then what, find out we're denied? that's cool, thanks. in the meantime, the deadline to submit an app for another grant passed by on tuesday. i had my app in 2 weeks ago so we'll see on that one. same department handling this one, that's also handling the other one. so i don't expect a response anytime soon. in the meantime, i'm sticking by my prediction that the state will drop back into shutdown no later than 7/24, which is just about two weeks out from today. we'll see if we have any grant funds to carry us from that point forward...

it's just straight tomato juice. like the big can you get at the store, just in single/double serving containers.
-
juice. it comes in little 6oz cans and we use it pretty regularly in the bar for various drinks.
-
i mean ... i was joking. although i can build a decent bloody using campbell's tomato juice as a base. too much work in most cases though.
-
it's just tomato juice and vodka, right? how hard can that be? and now i'm sad i missed sunday breakfast

Thought I'd share a pic of my progress on my first tiny batch. This SMaSH (single malt and single hop) IPA recipe I built uses only 4 ingredients: 2 row pale malt, Azacca hops, US-05 yeast, and water. This gallon batch gets a dry hop addition tomorrow, and then it's into the mini-keg for carbonation on Sunday. Should be ready to drink in about a week. -
So how much water damage happened? Assuming it traveled inside the walls, because you might have noticed a big brown spot in the ceiling if it was in the center of a room. Also, 3 stories? Attaboy.

depends. how big is a manicotti shell?

don't get me rong lol

kinda sad for a bulge.

gotta say, it's oddly satisfying watching him do this. it's the firm wipe at the end that really gets me.
