the concept of Sexual fluidity

on one hand it's a good thing because it basically tells people not to give a fuck what gender a person falls in love with/has sex with

on the other hand it's a polite way of saying being Gay is a choice

It doesn't mean it's a choice. Think of it like one's sexuality going through phases throughout their life, not necessarily within their control.

I suppose

when I was like 16 I called myself Bi but now as a 26 year old the idea of being with a woman doesn't seem appealing at all

I just see a lot of (stupid) writers these days using "sexual fluidity" as an excuse for retconning Gay characters as Bisexual/pansexual

Oh, well that's a lot different than real people.

Depends how you want to spin it. But either way, being gay can be a choice. The problem is thinking that choice is a bad thing (because it ain't). Fuck who you want whether it's what you feel or it's what you like.

We like to think of it like sliders on a radio. Except instead of bass/treble it's male/female. Gay men and straight women have a high male setting, and a low female, while lesbians and straight men have the reverse. Bi people would have high of both, pan would be really high both, and asexual people would be both quite low.

The sliders never move though, for a given individual. But what range they're focusing on may. That's how fluidity would work.

Notions of everyone being anything in particular are typically oversimplifications that either neglect meaningful difference or else are far too trite to have any deeper meaning.

My idea of sexual fluidity is basically most of the time you're straight or gay, but every once in a while/once in a blue moon you'll find someone that makes you swing the other way.

I mean that's not a lie, nobody's sexuality is 100% totally always rigid

I just hate how some people try to put a "human sexuality is ever changing and evolving" spin on the concept

a straight person will not "become gay" one day, if a person identified as straight then comes out as gay later, they were always gay, their sexuality didn't change, they just finally decided to be honest with themselves
