I now work at a museum. Random ecks dee

Everyone is saying a horrible recession is coming soon but I had no trouble getting multiple call backs right away and I only put in several applications. Granted these were all low-paying <$20/hour jobs, maybe for realer and/or faker jobs it's different.

I did see this unsubstantiated graphic though that had a list of states that are supposedly already in (a?) recession & mine wasn't on it so maybe it's different in some places, but AFAICT there's still plenty of openings out there for anyone looking to change things up.

I even signed up to deliver DoorDash for fun but haven't done it yet. They claim the average driver here makes $22 an hour which sounds unbelievable but might try it out and report back.

Any recession indicators where you guys are, or anything weird going on with the economy or life in general, or are things more or less still Very Normal?

Man, when I found out he literally worked for a Democratic think tank so many things fell into place for me. Just like when I found out Ginguy was a political consultant. And don't get me started on v*rpetas.

This place has served as quite the clarifying microcosm.

Never figured you to be the museum type. Maybe it's just another gig for you anyway. I've always wondered what it would be like to work at a museum. Is it boring?

It's pretty boring yeah but there's more going on than I thought. Groups of people use it as a place to gather for big meetings and events and stuff, so it's not just like families & field trips.

I thought he was reading shit actively (super passionate about the boards) and it was a dig at me for something unrelated. Idk. We had one civil chat 2 years ago when he was out the door and I missed everything on the Nab Wars, but he’s your pal.

I haven't done doordash in over 3 years. The pay seems horrible these days. Not joking, in 2020 there were hours where I made 50 dollars, and the average was over 25 per hour. It's never gonna be that good again. Inflation wasn't horrible yet either. I heard these days you can be sitting for hours and only make 20 dollars.

My friend who delivers occasionally says he does alright but it's highly tip dependent and he gets fucked over on some orders. I asked if that DoorDash claim of $20+ an hour could possibly be true and he said that sounds about right, so idk. Maybe tomorrow.....

iirc new drivers have a honeymoon period of 3 months where they are given priority for higher paying orders, so perhaps it may be worth it for you in the short term.
