It's a uniquely American form of lampoon that blends the plastic buffoonery of animated (and often anthropomorphic) characters with recognizable faces. It's very much like the political cartoons that blossomed a century earlier in motion form, but with the unique element of a distinctly sanitized representations of personal idiosyncrasies. Quote
