OwlChemist81 Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 Halfway done with Season 1 after tonight!! Get slammed tonight at Midnight to kick off Toonami!! 3
Dark_Cloud_Overhead Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 How can she be so old and frail that she can't get free from some ropes and needs to go to the hospital, and yet can still be that powerful? 1
ben0119 Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 Seems like the show is dragging too much to get to Andy actually being a wrestler. Sounded like a public domain track they just used. 1
ben0119 Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 Stomp the floor and it will make the punches more effective, Andy. 😄 Beat the scam with another scam. 😄
ben0119 Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 Wow, I can't believe that's not Michael Sinterniklaas as Craig. 😄 https://m.imdb.com/title/tt20115650/ 1
Dark_Cloud_Overhead Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 So Poblana's career is classified suddenly? What's up with that? Perhaps it has something to do with why she retired to the middle of nowhere and is so reluctant to train Andy now. 1
ben0119 Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 Good job, Craig. Now it's back to 0. Craig got scammed. 🤣 1 1
Dark_Cloud_Overhead Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 No honor among thieves. Shocker. 2
DangerMouse Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 Just now, Dark_Cloud_Overhead said: No honor among thieves. Shocker. 🤣
Dark_Cloud_Overhead Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 Premature celebration much. LOL
ben0119 Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 Reminds me of that epic OST from My Hero Academia. 1

Jman Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 (edited) Surprised this got posted after two weeks of ignoring the show’s existence. I would have laughed if it was just ignored every Saturday. So yeah, the show is back to doing nothing original and having its creatives start shit on social media for daring to say it’s unoriginal. Edited November 24, 2024 by Jman 2
Jman Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 Anyway, the more of this show I watch and dislike, the more I feel like this originally began life as an MMA story more akin to Kengan Ashura, Garouden, or even Teppu before it was made perfectly clear there was no way IN HELL Cartoon Network would sign off on an MMA show, since MMA is associated with real violence, as opposed to pro wrestling which is associated with fake violence, because it is, to quote Kevin Nash - "Fucking fake." So cue adding in the pro wrestling motif and a lot of really wacky elements that don't really work, not to mention the Current Year character designs which are very ugly and derivative. I mean look at this episode. In addition to being boring as hell, why would a pro wrestler be teaching strikes and not well, WRESTLING?! OK, you need to master the Bruce Lee one-inch punch, and fail at it. Kinnikuman had a similar training arc, and it was about teaching wrestling holds. The new series even flashes back to it, pointing out the importance of grappling fundamentals (not hurt by the fact that Kinnikuman is supposed to purposefully wrestle like Antonio Inoki). Maybe I'm being pedantic here, but it feels like the IFG skin is covering what was probably closer to Garouden than this.
Sketch Posted November 26, 2024 Posted November 26, 2024 Probably should have been an MMA show. I think Mucha Lucha better repped wrestling. But that aside, I’m still enjoying the journey despite this being the weakest episode yet. Lots of needless squabbles. Mikey braking the vase dramatically was pretty funny though. I was wondering how an earnest guy like him and a scammer could effectively work together but of course Craig just uses Mikey as a threat to get what they need. 1

All the wackiness, all the copy/paste from Bleach and MHA probably wasn’t in the first draft if it was just their take on Garouden. Not that I expect these writers to know what Garouden is, mind you, but the goofiness seems grafted on.
Top Gun Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 The thing is, I actually enjoyed the previous episode. Sure, it was a bog-standard shounen fight I've seen countless times before, but at least they executed it well. But this was just...pointless. The creators were only given so many guaranteed episodes, and it feels like they've spent a lot of that time just spinning their wheels. And yeah, I don't know what's up with the focus on punching. Like, I've never willingly sat through a single minute of a pro wrestling match, but even I know that's not a thing there. 1
