scoobdog
Thanks! Believe it or not, you can’t really see it with the naked eye. I took it with a time lapse on my phone.
scoobdog
Has anyone else seen them?
tsar4
Saw it once as a little kid, maybe 5 yrs old, riding home from my grandparent's house. I asked my grandfather why the sky looked like it was raining, but there were no clouds & no water. Being a science teacher, he knew why. Since then, it's always been cloudy or too light polluted to see when they've occurred.
scoobdog
Well, that’s partially why I had to go to an 8,911 ft summit to see it. You can see the light pollution from downtown Reno at the bottom. Luckily, there weren’t any clouds at 10pm; there were passing over Lake Tahoe earlier in the day. I imagine a lot of people in the main band that cut across the country didn’t get to see it because of light pollution. We were at least 4-500 miles away from the edges it’s band, which is why a time lapse was needed to catch anything.
molarbear
Man, had I remembered I would have driven out to Black Mesa for this As it stands I got some light polluted shots tonight that are most likely just the walmart parking lot reflecting off the clouds However ^Someone snapped these in the Panhandle last night (near black mesa) Link is the photos of the panhandle, photos ^ are in my backyard Edited May 12 by molarbear It all loaded out of order 2

It's the night setting on my phone's camera, it uses a longer exposure to capture as much of the surrounding light as possible (I think)

I almost wish I had taken my DSLR and tripod with me, but I’m not sure it would have been much better.

Insipid
Too rainy to see, but the sky did look brighter than usual. Honestly didn't excite me as much as the solar eclipse did 🤷♂️
