Putin: "Stick to the timeline!"

Sounds like F-16s may be in the air above Ukraine

Videos of "weird birds" and "falcons", as they are being called by some, are starting to pop up.

Wouldnt be surprised if they are. We have a history of announcing the transfer of weapons by using them, then saying "Oh yea, we gave them to Ukraine." This also is right in that window of when we thought the first F-16s would start to be delivered.

Saw a post of a jet silhouette purportedly over Ukraine about a week ago.  Others pointed out you couldn't tell if it was over Ukraine just by blue sky, but it was a F-16, so maybe...

I know.  I was just pointing out that the picture of the jet in the sky preceded the news story coming out by a few days.

Ohhhhh, gotcha.

Yea, the images and videos started coming out before the articles did. Follows the same pattern as other weapon transfers.

The whole Kursk thing is absolutely brilliant.  Russia has shown that they need outside help by bringing in Cubans, Indians & DPRKs (?), as well as those from countries they "occupy".  If they have drained other areas to put men on the Donetsk & other lines, that leaves where those men came from pretty much exposed.  The Wagner's showed that to be pretty much true during the "mutiny".  Get beyond the front and it's relatively easy pickings.

The US said it didn't want our weaponry fired from Ukraine into Russia - there was nothing said about using US weapons from Russia into Russia.

This is the exact kind of thing that we do. "Oh, we cant have weapons in the DMZ. OK, no one said anything about ABOVE the DMZ. Ignore those BUFFs"

Ukraine is learning from us, and its so great to see.

the article you linked said something like 6K soldiers, so that's serious manpower

Considering what whiney bitches the affected citizenry are being (multiple videos of them complaining), I think Ukraine could have sent in a little kid with a squirt gun and gotten the same result.

Enerhodar. We have recorded from Nikopol that the Russian occupiers have started a fire on the territory of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.

Currently, radiation levels are within norm. However, as long as the Russian terrorists maintain control over the nuclear plant, the situation is not and cannot be normal.

Since the first day of its seizure, Russia has been using the Zaporizhzhia NPP only to blackmail Ukraine, all of Europe, and the world.

We are waiting for the world to react, waiting for the IAEA to react. Russia must be held accountable for this. Only Ukrainian control over the Zaporizhzhia NPP can guarantee a return to normalcy and complete safety.

A Pro-Russian Telegram channel (Reedovka) is reporting a swarm of drones attacking both Moscow and a nearby airfield.  No confirmation.

You know, looking at the provided footage, I think that someone got nervous and now the Russian military is trying desperately to shoot down the Perseid meteors.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Sunday that Russia has started a fire on the grounds of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, the largest such facility in Europe.

It comes as the war between the two countries enters a new phase, with Ukraine occupying Russian territory for the first time last week as part of its retaliation against Russia’s full-scale invasion, which is now in its third year.

Russia captured the plant, which is in Ukrainian territory, shortly after invading Ukraine in 2022. Its six nuclear reactors are in cold shutdown and no nuclear activity was recorded on Sunday, but the overall risk of nuclear meltdown remains elevated.

“Currently, radiation levels are within norm,” Zelenskyy said in a post on X which included a video. “As long as the Russian terrorists maintain control over the nuclear plant, the situation is not and cannot be normal.”

“Since the first day of its seizure, Russia has been using the Zaporizhzhia NPP only to blackmail Ukraine, all of Europe, and the world,” he added.

There is widespread concern about the safety of the plant, which is located on the southern bank of the Dnipro River around 50 kilometres southwest of Zaporizhzhia.

“Two years of war are weighing heavily on nuclear safety at Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant,” Rafael Mariano Grossi, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said in April, after Russia attacked the facility for the first time during the war.

“These reckless attacks must cease immediately.”

The IAEA on Sunday directed POLITICO to an X post in which it noted “strong dark smoke” coming from Zaporizhzhia plant on Sunday. It said it had been told there was a drone attack on one of the site’s cooling towers, adding: “No impact has been reported for nuclear safety.”

In July, the UN adopted a resolution demanding Russia immediately return control of the facility to Ukraine.

Since then, Ukraine’s begun a counteroffensive into Russian territory in Kursk, which is the site of the largest nuclear power plant in the world.

The IAEA noted that development and appealed “to all sides to exercise maximum restraint in order to avoid a nuclear accident with the potential for serious radiological consequences.”

Grossi warned in April that the Russia-Ukraine war — which is the first to be fought so close to facilities of a major nuclear power program — has brought the prospect of a major nuclear accident dangerously close.

The world’s worst nuclear accident occurred in Chernobyl, Ukraine in 1986. Soviet authorities initially denied the scale of the disaster. Its effects are still felt to this day.

POLITICO has contacted Russian authorities for comment.
