Nielsen is archaic and unreliable.

and yet it's what we still use....so toonami has to appease people who typically aren't anime fans

it's why DBS Reruns remain at the front

But wtf is the hyper world?

We kinda gloss over everything which is why this anime has such shitty critical ratings on MAL

She learned her lesson. That's it.

Yuta had a crush on Rikka.Ā  There were dozens of characters with complex relationships.Ā  That seems like quite a lot for "just a dream."

Well folks, this was officially the occasion of my first beer since coming down with COVID-19 and ending up in quarantine almost 2 weeks ago!

But if you're gonna tease us with SSSS.Dynazenon, let's go full Bor(r)e here!

Episode 12 - SSSS.Gridman - Anime News Network

Grade: A-. Yes, I'd say that sums it up nicely. And do yourself a favor and read this review if you really want to have a deeper understanding of this series.

Interestingly enough, the other meaning of "SSSS",Ā "Special Signature to Save a Soul" was never really mentioned in the dub, but that I can forgive because damn, was that Tim Curry-esque voice for Alexis Kerib spot on! Twelve episodes of that was such a treat for the ears!

And will we see him again in SSSS.Dynazenon? Only time will tell...

I'll wait til I get home and can watch those videos on a bigger screen.Ā  But looking pretty epic from what I can tell.

What a great post to cap off the broadcast. I am enjoying the new anime too.

This director is directing the new SSSS anime as well. He has a very odd and unique directing style too. He is known for omitting background music, utilizing effective camera angles, and keeping some things about the story a mystery to the audience.

Random Observation.....*real* Akane looks more like Rikka than she does virtual Akane

and I wonder if that was a conscious choice meant to imply that Rikka is closer to the real Akane than Akane's idealized lavernder haired big boobed anime girl virtual version of herself

Hey, you're right! I never noticed that! And the idea that in this virtual world, Akane created Rikka to be her friend and be more like her, I guess reflects that's what she looks like? Like somehow Rikka was the "real" Akane and the lavender-haired big-boobedĀ avatar was actually the creation? What a twist! Of course, if that IS indeed the case, Alexis was more than happy to go along with the lie that Rikka was the "creation!"

In the final scene, we learn that this show was actually an "isekai" all along!

Well Rikka has a "natural" hair color that most Japanese have. Sure they could've had the IRL Akane dye her hair.

Dat woman in the background seems to be providing this shows' thiccness in Rikka's stead.

It was never going to get good ratings, the West doesn't like Mecha.Ā

And the fact that the entire show takes place in a girls head was never going to be a winner either.

You say that when the biggest movie of the weekend involved kaiju and mecha.Ā  Besides, if that was the case, Legendary Defender wouldn't have flopped due to its distinct lack of mecha.

The West can't be bothered with shows airing at 2:30 am, especially the same day as the Final Four.Ā Ā

That wasn't an anime.

We like Transformers and Pacific Rim and all sorts of giant monster movies just fine. But in the West we like Mecha anime about as much as we like slice of life.

Well the West utterly sucks at mecha, and the problem is the past few years a lot of the examples that have been mass market releases have been Western.Ā  I've made fun of Voltron ad nauseum on here, but the numbers don't lie about how badly those toys bombed.Ā  gen:Lock meanwhile barely got a second season but it was clear the initial reaction was rather poor.

Also that Pacific Rim anime did get a renewal.
