I never got to a dumpster diving level of struggle which I’m thankful for but working at a grocery store deli made me realize how much needless food waste there is. Literally throwing out whole slabs of ham or beef or cheese because they’re a day or two out of date, dumping packaged foods because they’re past the sell by date, it really pissed me off being a part of that system.

You ever read science fiction where they optimize food production to consumption and you go mad in every grocery store meat isle.

Not that I'm mad or anything. Around here I'm fairly normal.

Frozen pizza items like Celeste, Stouffers French Bread pizza, and Pizza Bagels.

Instant pasta packets like Knorr's Alfredo or Butter & Herb Noodles.

Canned bread.

To add to this, I used to save money by eating a Grapefruit and dry plain Cheerios for lunch.

It gave me a lot of extra pocket money, but produce in general tends to be higher end so I didn’t lump all the grapefruit in with the canned/frozen foods you could get for even less.

Chicken/tuna and broccoli helper but made w/ just the stuff in the box and water
When you scramble the egg in the microwave and put it on bread with either a little butter or slice of cheese
Cocktail sauce and saltines

Looking again at some of the posts, this was favorite struggle meal right?

Garbage ranked among favorites?

It was in the trash but the food was fine. I wasn't eating half eaten burgers or something. Leagues better than what little money I had could buy.
