You always have to stop at a Subway. It's mandatory.  I think I saw a sign for a Jimmy Johns and was like woahnofuckingthankyou. 😂

Jimmy Johns is actually fucking awesome. They serve on French bread and you get an 8 inch sandwich for like 7 bucks. And I think they always use white cheddar or provolone cheese, can't remember. And if you want it delivered it's at your door in under a half hour.

Not everyone is blessed to have a sub tender on the corner....

Nearest Subway is across the Fox (only good thing to come out of Green Bay), but I prefer to go to the one the opposite direction, which is twice as far.  Wish there was a Blimpie somewhere around me.

Jersey Mikes has been pretty good each time Ive had it.  There really is nothing like a good NJ sub.

WOAH WOAH WOAH WOAH WOAH WOAH Do we need a poll thread for sub places?  An ultimate sub battle? 😂😂😂

It would only go the way of most polls.  I won't vote on places I haven't had, and I can't remember the name of the best sub venue I ever got one from (they're long gone - the guy running the place moved back home).  It had 3 meats (roast beef, Virginia baked ham & I think prosciutto, Danish Havarti cheese, shredded lettuce, onion, some other veggies.  Then there was this homemade dressing that really was great.  He heated everything in a pizza oven.  The "Businessman's Special" was the same sandwich, soaked in beer.

That sounds so delicious.  Ah, its sad when these special food shops go out.

Im not sure how polls would go on UEMB - pure chaos?  Ive only seen the one in Rants about cakes 😂

Polls are pointless.  I think there's already been one for sandwich shops, most the EC'ers liked WaWa.  But unless you've been to all the possible venues, how can anyone rightfully say one is the best overall?

I think the guy at the sandwich shop I liked tested his sandwiches & pizza away from his hometown to see if people liked them before heading home to open a place there.  Nothing like starting at home & starting & failing in front of the hometown crowd.

sweet jesus, I live here in jolly ol bankrupt Illinois, and in my lil town here we have 3 subways at the minimum. One in a walmart, one downtown (which I'd never go to cause that part of town should be avoided after dark), and one in the center of town. We also have a Jimmy Jahns, which I do think to some degree is better than Subway, but yeah you definitely taste the mayo. Their food is definitely more filling than Subways, that said though I very rarely go there anymore. During my first year at my work place I went there a lot cause I wanted to avoid eating at burger places like Mcd's, JitB, etc. multiple times in a week, but I got somewhat burnt out on it, also I don't like spending close to $8 only for a sandwich.

We do have a Firehouse subs in town, but it's very hit or miss. I do think it tastes better than SW and JJs, but to get the same size sandwich that I'd get from there I'm spending at least $9, and it's a thing where the service is extremely hit or miss. My work friends cousin used to work there (her eventually being hired as a manager at one of the other locations cause she was the best worker at the place, which isn't saying much considering) only like one or two people aside from her actually did any work, the ones that actually worked being people she brought with her when she first transferred there. I've had a couple instances where it'd just be me or very few people there, and it'd still take me 15 minutes to get my food cause the people are just goofing around, or acting busy to avoid doing real work. *I do want to expand on this, one example of them just goofing around is one time I went there, it was either just me or only one other person, and I was standing at the counter with no others in line, staring straight on at the two workers who were just talking and goofing off. I could have said something to make them do their job, but I wanted to see how long it would take them to finally service me, and it took at least 3 minutes of me standing there in front of them.

there's also a pennstation and at least one other sub sandwich place in town, so yeah the midwest definitely loves them

Firehouse is so expensive for a not much better sub.  Kinda sad.
