Maybe kitty likes what your roommate watches more than what you watch? 

Cats can have preferences and they don't always mesh with the hoomans. My previous kitty loved 'Pee Wee's Playhouse' - I found that out the hard way when [ as ] aired it late at night and I was working a shift that usually meant I got home at that time. The second that stupid theme song started, she'd tear ass out of the bedroom and power flop on the carpet to watch the tv [ while lying on her back with her belly in the air ] and I would be stuck with that playing in the background. 

Current kitty will sometimes bitch on Saturday night's if I don't turn on the tv in the bedroom for Toonami even if I'm watching it in the living room. And she is enamored with Toki's voice.
