A dog update

He ran away twice.

the first time, he tangled his runner around a pricker bush while I was taking a bath, slipped his collar, and disappeared for the rest of the day.

He originally had a goose friend that the previous owners tried to surrender at the shelter, but the shelter wouldn’t take it. So we hear that if we get this goose, the dog will come home. We get the goose. The dog comes home. The goose flies away.

Dog is perfect all day yesterday without being tied up. He just lays around the yard and in the basement. Very sweet.

This morning, he was found walking down the busy road and was luckily picked up by someone else who has a Great Pyrenees.

I don’t know how I’m going to do this shit, and I wish the goose would come back cause the dog is lonely.

I'm assuming Geese are like Ducks in that if you're going to keep them as a pet you're suppose to clip their wings so they can't fly

Not sure if you can do it when they're grown though

Either way, if that Goose comes back and this situation gets figured out, this Dog Goose friendship sounds like something I would watch on Youtube

I dunno about finding the goose, but dogs seem to need partners.  If he's sweet, maybe you could get a dog companion from the same shelter if the goose doesn't come back.  Also, is it possible to see if the goose returned to his former residence?

Yeah, his former residence is down the road from my in laws, so everyone is keeping an eye out for him. It’s an Egyptian goose though, and we have some feral populations around here. There’s a chance it ran into some fellow feathered friends and decided we could all fuck off.

lmao...this is pretty funny

Everyone I knew always had these ideal pet situations and I would always be fucked over by whatever I got stuck with (never by choice). Good to be on the other side for once.

It will be funny a few months from now. I’m still too close to the storm.

I thought about this immediately, but everyone told me that geese aren’t parakeets and you can’t just clip their wings cause they can’t get away from predators.

I’m not holding my breath about it showing back up, but man, they were sweet together.
