CaptainStarwind Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 I was hoping this was an April Fools Day joke when I saw it. Well, the best I can hope for now is that this doesn't happen, just like the 15 other times it was supposed to happen but didn't. Quote

Actually wouldn’t be the first time Leo was attached to an anime adaptation that went nowhere. He actually turned down Episode VII in favor of signing on as Roy Fokker in a Robotech movie. Since those rights are a completely dumpster fire that will only be resolved when Harmony Gold loses the rights in 2021, the movie never got made. https://geektyrant.com/news/2013/7/24/leonardo-dicaprio-turns-down-star-wars-for-robotech Disclaimer - I like Leonardo DiCaprio as an actor and thought Revenant was a work of art. PokeNirvash Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 He was great in Django Unchained too. Spoiler Seeing the Hans Landa that was shoot the Hans Landa that could've been was something truly special. Quote
QueenoftheDorks Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 Literally the only thing that gives Mr hope is that Taika wants to direct it. If they pass over him or he drops out then it's gonna be a no from me. Quote

viperxmns Posted April 4, 2019 Posted April 4, 2019 Might be neat to see Kaneda's bike IRL but otherwise pointless movie remake Quote
jackiemarie90 Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 I'm always wrong on thinking these will be good when they generally aren't. So I'm not really gonna say anything yet, and hope they don't change the plot too much. Quote

I can see them either completely redesigning it, or replacing it something more "Americanized", or something. Quote
Chapinator_X Posted April 17, 2019 Posted April 17, 2019 I’m glad that the legend of Travis and Canada is getting closer and closer to reality. Quote
PokeNirvash Posted April 17, 2019 Posted April 17, 2019 Great, now you've got me thinking about No More Heroes but in Canada. Quote
Chapinator_X Posted April 18, 2019 Posted April 18, 2019 Sounds like the premise of Travis Strikes Again, but with backwoods Texas instead of backwoods Canada. I'd get it for the Shinobu DLC, but it is mostly indie-inspired minigames so I'm waiting for a sale. But on the topic of the live-action Akira, it's had such a long, tumultuous history that's probably rougher than the Cowboy Bebop adaptation that Keanu Reeves was initially on-board with. I think the only constant is Leonardo DiCaprio really wanting this to be made, but it's been in development hell for so long that so many different names have been thrown around on the project. Here are some articles du jour for some fun reading, but the first is a more cohesive overview. The second has that irresistible image of Travis' concept art. The third is the script rundown from Cracked back when they sifted through the initial Travis script. https://www.ign.com/articles/2017/04/06/akira-the-tortured-history-of-the-unmade-live-action-adaptation https://www.slashfilm.com/akira-concept-art-imagines-chris-evans-and-joseph-gordon-levitt-in-an-american-adaptation/ https://www.cracked.com/blog/the-actual-live-action-akira-script-worse-than-you-think/ Quote
