ben0119 Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 I did. I thought it was actually pretty decent (though toned down to be more straightforward as expected). I heard that too. That whitewashing is still pretty shitty though.
Meilag32 Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 A good Laughing Man heavy episode that will be followed with a string of mostly forgettable stand alone episodes. Though the Tachikoma sentience ones start next week and the second one takes place 5 weeks from now. But it is all stand alone episodes until the season climax starts.
Meilag32 Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 Episode 12: A Stand Alone Episode: "Tachikoma Runs Away; The Movie Director's Dream – ESCAPE FROM" Bumping for later.
AnimationFan14 Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 time for Bisexual future police woman! Mmmm my favorite
Meilag32 Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 time for Bisexual future police woman! Screw her. Time for the real stars: the Tachikomas! Guilty secret: I want a Tachikoma. So bad.
DangerMouse Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 Screw her. Time for the real stars: the Tachikomas! Guilty secret: I want a Tachikoma. So bad. Yep
mochi Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 Screw her. Time for the real stars: the Tachikomas! Guilty secret: I want a Tachikoma. So bad. you want a tank with an adorable little baby voice? actually that sounds awesome
AnimationFan14 Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 Screw her. Time for the real stars: the Tachikomas! Guilty secret: I want a Tachikoma. So bad. Remember you'll need plenty of natural oil
Gyaos Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 Non-anthropomorphic robots should not be this cute...
mochi Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 speaking of the Tachikomas I'm pretty sure Sailor Chibi Moon shares a voice with one of them
AnimationFan14 Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 you want a tank with an adorable little baby voice? actually that sounds awesome I'll take that and one cd of this soundtrack for me and my Tach to bop around town too
Meilag32 Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 In all fairness, as much as I say I want a Tachikoma, this specific scenario: an Artificial Intelligence gaining sentience and escaping in the wide world is raising alarms across the board. And the fact that he just tossed that dog kind of verifies my point.
DangerMouse Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 "If you ever do that again, you'll make me really mad!"
Meilag32 Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 Did a machine just lie to a human, not to mention a police officer? Another alarm raised.
CountFrylock Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 In all fairness, as much as I say I want a Tachikoma, this specific scenario: an Artificial Intelligence gaining sentience and escaping in the wide world is raising alarms across the board. And the fact that he just tossed that dog kind of verifies my point. it's ultron all over again
mochi Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 it's ultron all over again except that the Tachikomas are sweet and nice
CountFrylock Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 except that the Tachikomas are sweet and nice until someone hacks them and they go terminator
Meilag32 Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 it's ultron all over again More like... And if you think it's all fiction, look at what Russia just unveiled:
AnimationFan14 Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 "She had already cried enough" So young but such an astute little girl none the less
Gyaos Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 Jesus Christ, watching this episode was a mistake. It's like someone just gave me a strong punch right in the FEELS. No Motoko necessary.
mochi Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 I dunno why people try to hide death from kids it's a fact of life only reason people probably fear it is because we're taught to
Meilag32 Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 except that the Tachikomas are sweet and nice We, as the audience, know that. But if you were in that show's universe at this point in time, you could not know that.
DangerMouse Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 Jesus Christ, watching this episode was a mistake. It's like someone just gave me a strong punch right in the FEELS. And that music just punctuated it perfectly.
DangerMouse Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 Hmmm...I'm not sure we want to know what that's made of thanks to the Tachikoma.
Meilag32 Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 I dunno why people try to hide death from kids it's a fact of life only reason people probably fear it is because we're taught to Pretty much all cultures, except the U.S., introduce the concept at a young age. We just ignore it until someone important dies and expect the kid to handle it simply because talking about the concept beforehand is "awkward". To be fair, I remember a bunch of 80's children's movies that dealt with death quite well.
AnimationFan14 Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 Tachikoma's leaking a bit at this story. An oil spill that BP can't be blamed for :'(
CountFrylock Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 We, as the audience, know that. But if you were in that show's universe at this point in time, you could not know that. plus since robots don't understand basic concepts of life you would be terrified of these things roaming around because if they cannot decipher what is life what is death what's the difference between good and evil then you eventually end up with a machine doing heinous things just to experience them
Meilag32 Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 Hmmm...I'm not sure we want to know what that's made of thanks to the Tachikoma. Since it's Japan, probably cow. Japan's food tastes are actually more similar to ours. They don't eat dog, cat, guinea pig, etc., or whatever pet we have here. Maybe because we introduced those species there as pets and people have a hard time learning to eat an animal they once had as a pet.
mochi Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 still find it funny that they were all so terrified of self ware Tachikomas here when it turned out the Tachikomas were nice and saved their asses in the end they were a bit too brainwashed by self aware robot clichees
Gyaos Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 I'm not familiar enough with this anime, so I'll just ask: Did the Major enter the Matrix or some similar realm?
DangerMouse Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 "Keep an eye out for traps"....two seconds later, TRAP!
Meilag32 Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 still find it funny that they were all so terrified of self ware Tachikomas here when it turned out the Tachikomas were nice and saved their asses in the end they were a bit too brainwashed by self aware robot clichees Let's save it for that episode. But like I said, at this point in time, Section 9 has no way of knowing they won't just go rogue.
