It's almost as silly as the counter argument about it being rapey.  Context indeed is everything, but the song still trivializes the cultural norms of that era in a way that somewhat belittles the serious nature of it.  The reason "self respecting" women didn't participate in this behavior was that the consequences were comparatively draconian.

and that's where the conversation re: this song should be looking. it would be a more fruitful conversation, at least.
