Gundam IBO continuation may be in the works...

Just leave it alone, Sunrise.  You've done enough damage as it is.  Let it die.

There's no way they can undo that ending or much of the shittiness in season 2 unless they redo it and pull a Brotherhood and claim the original season 2 was some alternate continuity.

A series about the Calamity War might be interesting though.

Only Gundam series I've seen to completion that I actively hated.

Let this die. Give us Crossbone Gundam instead.

I've only seen IBO and Unicorn. My opinion on Gundam is not a positive one.

IBO is trash and Unicorn's unwatchable for anyone who's not familiar with the three 80's series.

Watch MSG '79 & Zeta, any of the older OVAs, or G Gundam. It'll take the bad first taste right out of your mouth.

War in the Pocket is best Gundam imo

Ugh there's so many Gundams. It's like trying to get into the Fate series.

Not a chance in hell Gundam is as bad as Fate. Gundam is, as far as I'm aware, mostly standalone series. Fate constantly demands you to go through the whole franchise to "understand" what's happening, but its lore is such incomprehensible fucking trash it's better to stick with Zero and call it good.

I haven't seen any Fate yet, every time I thought about watching one I see 20 different shows and I'm just kind of like... meh that's too much to get into.

I heard something about one of the more recent ones being a good starting point... like Fate/stay night or maybe it was unlimited blade works. I've heard nothing but good things about the fight scenes and animation, and the characters seem to be well liked.

Nope. The only reasons people like UBW is because it has Rin and the asthetic in the fights look prettier than Zero.

UBW assumes you understand the lore of Fate, which in itself is a mistake since the lore is pure gibberish written by a madman. It's 1 of 3 routes from a game where you need all 3 routes to "understand" its incoherent ramblings. They also assume you know Zero. UBW's episode 0, which follows Rin, is the best episode, but as soon as Shiro takes over in episode 1 it nosedives. Rin really should've been the protagonist since Shiro is a really boting, remarkably dumb main character. It's supposed to be a Battle Royale, but all the villians just go after the incompetent idiot of a main character who plot armors his way through them with nothing in the way of dramatic stakes. The action is flashy but it's not even as well choreographed or engaging as Zero's since the writing is so much worse.

Zero is an actual free-for-all where actual characters come up with things like strategies instead of Shiro hit things until winning even though it breaks rules we established 10 seconds ago.

Spoiler

Zero takes half a season of character and conflict build up for a single main character to be taken out. Shiro, of UBW, plows through like half of them near singlehandedly in the same amount of time - and he doesn't even know what he's doing.

You need very little knowledge of Fate to get into Zero and it's just the better show. I went in with no other series and came out with a great show. It just wouldn't be possible to do with UBW unless you just want big, dumb spectacle fights.

......

The only benefit to watching UBW is that the first heavens feel movie was actually pretty sick.

I can't speak for the new Unlimited Blade Works series, but I had no trouble following the Heaven's Feel movie after having had only seen Fate/Zero.

Fate/Zero DOES have its problems (characters pacing around during long scenes of dialog, for example), but for the most part, it's the shit, and easy to understand since it's the beginning point.

Gundam's fallen out of favor heavily since the early 2000s. The only people who watch the old shows nowadays are young anime afficionados, who are curious as to what made it so popular in Japan, and the fans who were busy watching B.S. and are just catching up to speed. 05/06 it was obvious that Bandai was never dubbing ZZ Gundam, they couldn't even get CN to buy Zeta. Zeta only got dubbed on the heels of Gundam's popularity, it's clear these idiots at Toonami only want newer animation and will only play something dated premillenium if it's one of their favorites. They're just followers, not leaders

I just finished rewatching Unicorn on demand today and I still think it makes the rest of the series that Toonami plays look like crap. But because crap like Hunter, Black Clover, Naruto, and Super are popular, crap is what'll keep being shown. IBO is crap and they'll pick up this garbage new season just because it looks nice. Go do some girly dress shopping, Toonami producers, and turn in your man cards. 🐻

I've heard this scene get complaints all the time, but it's not even a very long scene. It's a solid scene for that matter. Zero is definitely slower than UBW, and I'd pose that's effectively why it's better. It gave the action more weight and made the characters more interesting since they took time to develop.

Heavens feel did have some "if you want to know what we're talking about, go watch UBW" parts. Hint: don't, it won't explain much.

Otherwise, I did overall like the movie

Most of what you say is complete and total garbage...but I DO agree with you about Gundam Unicorn! It's totally badass! I'm really hoping that Toonami's next Gundam is either Thunderbolt (18 min/ep; great spot for an interstitial) or Narrative.

NT is a theatrical film.

As for Thunderbolt... well, you're the only person I've ever seen want it to be on Toonami, so I don't think it's going to happen.

Well it should, it's got more action per episode than over half the block and many of the dub lines wouldn't seem out of place in one of Toonami's speech/music videos. But alas, maybe in a universe where [as] is its own network, Turner S&P isn't as stingy, and/or Demarco isn't deathly afraid of fanservice.
