Welp, I am completely petrified and energized....

I have been asked to join fraud operations, managing a team of 25 that basically identifies, prevents and creates safety measures around wire fraud.

Really have limited knowledge, other than processing and picking up red flags in a retail space.

Not sure what I want to do, but I really need to dig more.... Like a blind man at an orgy.... I am going to have to feel my way through this....

Serendipity is a slut that just loves to fuck me hard.

Does it pay more? Do it.

Chase them dollar bills.

Yeah significantly more, less bonus structure but that is to be expected when you aren't customer facing and have revenue driving metrics.

Health, dental, and vacation time?

How are the hours?

Opportunities for OT?

It's a bank, so benefits are always good.

More structured schedule, as wire operations is pretty cookie cutter hours.

Salary, I haven't been hourly in forever... so no overtime, ever.

It's a change, but the risk is these positions are typically eliminated when change occurs because they cost the bank money (shortsighted thinking, as we actually save the bank a ton of money by correcting peoples fuck ups).

The elimination thing seems like the only downside, can you transfer back to another position if that happens?

Potentially, and ideally... but would have to be flexible about location of course.

Ah, location.

That might be a pain.

What is the commute time and are you tied down to a specific location? That is to say, can you pack up and move easily?

Well, my current location afforded me this opportunity because its the hub, but I suppose I am flexible. At least, building new and more connections. I could really go anywhere at this point if I needed to, its just learning something new again... but that feels more like a motivator right now. They are sending me all the offers today and I am to sign and send back asap, so they are eager to make this happen. Money isn't the biggest factor for me at this point in my life, but expanding my resume and furthering my career.

I should have a drink.

You're welcome Sawdsy.  You're gonna do great cuz you the man :)

Eh, I am optimistic. But it will be a brand new field so, lots to learn. But my office is like 3 minutes away and my work life balance will be better (I know it seems like its gravy now).

Sounds like there's a lot of happiness potential once you learn everything and get comfortable doing it.

Working close to home is always a plus you can always piss people off when they talk about their awful commute.  You can always tell them, "Tell me about it, it took me 10 minutes to get into work today"xD

On the flippidity flip though, bad weather... I am emergency response. But I already contracted them to put me up in the Double Tree in those situations, so drinking at the hotel bar while snow falls.

That sounds awesome.  How did you get them to agree to that though cuz you said you're only 3 minutes away?

Well, I am the department head. And just because it is snowing here, we still support the entire bank footprint in wire fraud operations so I am essential. SO, I said I can certainly stay for whatever time is needed, but snow emergency is a thing and we have bridges that I would need to cross and what not, so I said, "Build it in, as an exception to P&L cost for our department and I can run the operation on a skeleton crew in that situation." They loved the idea, again.... they see it as indentured servitude I am sure.

Damn, that's smart, I wish I was confident enough to negotiate like that.

I can say all the right words but it's not believable so my boss be like:
