I used ftp like 30 years ago. So its still a thing? Interesting.

ftp is how some of the internet still uploads files to their servers.

What would you recommend nowadays? I'm good now. I fixed it, but im still curious since youre good at this stuff. Like what do you use for moving stuff around?

I'm using filezilla. Idk much about web development so any and all advice is welcome and appreciated.

i can never ever ever get it to work

Maybe you need to "Put" it to work instead of "Get" it to work.

FTP humor, a (rightfully) lost art.

i use secure ftp to transfer files to/from the federal reserve every day. i don't have to; i can use a browser interface if i want to. it's just easier and faster to ftp the files.

FTP is basic network configuration though poof so I'm at a loss to what your real problem might be.

idk.. Maybe I'm not IT worthy yet. xD

I got it working. Thank you guys for trying to help!

There were a few issues. One was dynamic IP issue. I set up a static one. Then the other thing filezilla was choosing ports itself instead of the ones i wanted it to. I forget what thats called.

there's also a usb token involved for additional security. i think the main reason for using ftp in that scenario is security, tbh.
