She's one of my supervisors.  Figure those odds.  A worker and a boss residing in the same apartment complex.

You are both in the same economic class

No, it happened, twice.  I just simply don't want to take on all the additional hours and responsibilities without getting any extra pay for it.  Also, supervisors where I work have no job security at all.  Even department heads get hired... and fired at a much faster pace than any of us union workers.  They can even be fired without cause.  I'm not sticking my nose in that mouse trap.

What makes it stupid?  When you compare the number of hours a  supervisor has to put in here at a flat, monthly salary, to the number of hours I put in, the supervisor almost always earns less PER HOUR than I do.

If you work as a supervisor, regardless of how much you make [I highly doubt the annual income is equal to your current one way or another, it's definitely higher], you'd be able to get a better supervisor job elsewhere after a year or two with the experience. Not that it matters now that you're a walking, talking fossil. Should have taken it 30 years ago when you weren't completely worthless to the workforce.

You act like this particular supervisor could have her nine bedroom house in Longport.  Anyway, the upper management here doesn't need cause to fire a supervisor.  It could be just a little slight, such as not coming in to work when the phone rings at four in the morning.  You don't find other work at any casino after you've been fired.  Care to work in Wilmington or Scranton?

No, I'm saying managerial experience looks better on a resume than 30 years of being a janitor. I'm not saying you'd be rich, just that you could get a better job with it. Not that it matters for a retarded dinosaur like you.

I believe you....How much does a head janitor make.  No chance she's part of the elite there.  She watching other people mop.

In flat, monthly salary?  About $150 to $200 per month more than what I take home.  But, she gets that at the expense of working sixty hour weeks and paying more than half of her health insurance premiums.

I'm not worried about a resume this close to retirement.

I know, did you miss the part where I said it wouldn't matter to someone as ancient as you?

That's why you should have shot for management 30 years ago, regardless of how big or small the pay increase. Managers, on average, make more than you.

I can't wait to raid your pension. I'm going to Tokyo, Walt Disney World, Paris, maybe screw a ladyboy in Bangkok. It's gonna all be gone in 6 months.

Mopping spunk is what the least in seniority does around here.  I get to pick and choose the assignments.

Supervisors here don't get pensions.  AND...they have no job security.

Tellers at a bank out of highschool make more than Packard.

He said he makes 28k a year, which is about 14 an hour. Still a paltry amount for a white man his age. The joke is that he's always talking about the government touching his supposedly large pension.

Maybe at your current shithole, but not every workplace is the same your dumpster fire.

Too late now. You already wasted your life on mediocrity.

That seems to be above average. My friend only started out 12 an hour as one.

I cleared 17k working for 8.50 back in 2002....Granted, I made some overtime.  I wasn't on this assumed 14 buck salary.

They have sales incentives as well. Checking accounts, new money deposits, financial planning referrals, home equities etc. Base salary was 15 to 17 but they could make more by selling.

Oh... yeah... being a supervisor here for seven months and getting fired looks just super on a resume.  I've seen it happen.

Reading this thread, I have to ask....how far away are you from retirement? If you get fired, will that affect any retirement plan you might have there? Have you missed any days of work recently?

Given that supervisors have such shit job security, getting rid of an older employee, that could save the company money, would help her keep her job. It seems suspicious that your boss moves in. It's like she's keeping an eye on you.

Or I could be reading more into it. I have a habit of doing that when tired.

Lol... Do you even know Packard? And with metal prices skyrocketing... Get your tinfoil hat early

I lurk sometimes. Don't post much in here, but yeah...I've come across his threads before.

Stocking up on those tinfoil hats before the tariffs take effect. Feels like there will be a need of them in the coming years...

The company doesn't own or manage the pension accounts.  The union does.  The union has the final word in my eligibility to collect.  The company is not authorized to withdrawal from the accounts, write checks, borrow from the accounts or close the accounts.  The company is only authorized to deposit into the accounts.

I think he's said like 3 or 4 years. It's more than enough time to lose the job.
