Meilag32 Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 to some extent, gumdam puts heavy emphasis on the mental development and lives of the pilots, unlike some other giant robot series I'm just not that big into Mecha series. I only ever got into one. And it wasn't really because of the mecha in it.
AnimationFan14 Posted January 8, 2017 Author Posted January 8, 2017 "What? Not even a space GED, how do you expect to get this job"
mochi Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 that kid with the freckles is super cute (I like brown haired white boys with freckles)
Meilag32 Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 Not a fan of the artstyle. It seems too...retro...or something.
mochi Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 Not a fan of the artstyle. It seems too...retro...or something. I like it
Gyaos Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 ......That Unicorn Gundam was magical. That was done on purpose. Basically, the kid just saw a magical creature (GUNDAM) and he was struck with awe. The only thing missing is a rainbow.
Zenigundam Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 Not a fan of the artstyle. It seems too...retro...or something. The artstyle is pretty weird. And what's with everybody being a little kid?
ben0119 Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 Dat music. Holy... I need to get my ass back in the recliner! I'm missing some awesome action sequences and animation! So this takes place 17 years after the original Gundam? What was all that about a new century, then? Figured this would be a hundred years later. What does that 0083 and 0096 shit all mean anyway? Just placement in the timeline? But I already don't understand the timeline. x_x Heh, the art style and character designs are like 70s and 80s anime. Those times when characters were softer and rounder, and had... such hair! Speaking of, she's got some softness and roundness. 8)
mochi Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 Misty's voice actress is in every Viz dub now and I love it!
CorbeauKarasu Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 aside from the occult magical elemnts, Code Geass is a Gundam series. same plot type. same character design, same dramatic elements and political discourse. it was a Gundam love-letter packed with allusions to the franchise that spawned it. not to mention it was created by the same production company.
ben0119 Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 The artstyle is pretty weird. And what's with everybody being a little kid? The art style is like classic anime! Like the original Gundam and... Robotech! It's lovely! Dunno about kids. Hopefully they won't be annoying. Don't think they are little kids, though. Teenagers probably.
mochi Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 It's very 80's... I don't really like it either. I love 80's anime art
OwlChemist81 Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 Not a fan of the artstyle. It seems too...retro...or something. Really? This from a guy who loves DBZ Kai!? > :420:
CorbeauKarasu Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 at least you can't Say Cardenas isn't callous with his pilot's life, since he's in the cockpit too
ben0119 Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 It's very 80's... I don't really like it either. That's what makes it so great!
DangerMouse Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 It's very 80's... I don't really like it either. You'll see soon enough that the pacing is very modern though. But it's true the character designs are modernized 80's style, the character designer is the original character designer of the franchise.
OwlChemist81 Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 ......That Unicorn Gundam was magical. That was done on purpose. Basically, the kid just saw a magical creature (GUNDAM) and he was struck with awe. The only thing missing is a rainbow. This also happens in Durarara!! and Chrono Crusade, and... Ok, I'll shut up now.
mochi Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 Really? This from a guy who loves DBZ Kai!? > :420: I was gonna say, DBZ was an 80's anime
DangerMouse Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 Mr. Bright Slap himself getting named dropped!
Meilag32 Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 The art style is like classic anime! Like the original Gundam and... Robotech! It's lovely! Dunno about kids. Hopefully they won't be annoying. Don't think they are little kids, though. Teenagers probably. Yeah, I'm not a fan of 80's anime style. But don't worry about the kids. I'm sure we'll get to see them throughout the whole series.
ben0119 Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 aside from the occult magical elemnts, Code Geass is a Gundam series. same plot type. same character design, same dramatic elements and political discourse. it was a Gundam love-letter packed with allusions to the franchise that spawned it. not to mention it was created by the same production company. Well, not sure about all that. Code Geass had those horrible CLAMP character designs, and the suits had like roller blades or whatever and didn't really walk, plus they were smaller. Plus the show was way more obnoxious and horrible than any Gundam series, and seemed to have some influence from Death Note. But, aside from that...
Zenigundam Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 I'm surprised that a lot of people don't know the Universal Century timeline. 0079 is the year that Amuro's father creates the original Gundam and also the year of the One Year War (Mobile Suit Gundam). Between 0079 and 0093 (Char's Counterattack) are the vast majority of the other UC series which are mostly noteworthy stories involving insurrections against the new world order by Zeon, and that's really all one needs to know.
AnimationFan14 Posted January 8, 2017 Author Posted January 8, 2017 I love 80's anime art It feels like a beautifully hand drawn love letter to that classic old school animation art style and character design
mochi Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 why is all the music tonight fucking beautifull?! (''T_T'')
OwlChemist81 Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 The art style is like classic anime! Like the original Gundam and... Robotech! It's lovely! Dunno about kids. Hopefully they won't be annoying. Don't think they are little kids, though. Teenagers probably. I'd say it's a classic style with a modern sensibility!
Meilag32 Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 I was gonna say, DBZ was an 80's anime Mostly not. It ran from halfway thru 89 to 96. It was mostly a 90s anime. And the art style was very different from this very typical 80's style that dominated during that decade.
DangerMouse Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 First episode is not really winning me over. The first part is basically cut in half, the first OVA is an hour so view it like a multi-parter.
ben0119 Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 Yeah, I'm not a fan of 80's anime style. But don't worry about the kids. I'm sure we'll get to see them throughout the whole series. How can you not be? Robotech... T__T And Dragonball/Z was 80s/early 90s. It had a unique art style, though. Well they seem to be the main characters... x_x I just hope this main guy isn't like Amuro, the main character from the original Mobile Suit Gundam, who was an extremely annoying whiny, crying bitch. I mean, Shinji had to get it from somewhere, right?
mochi Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 oh hey she's voiced by Stephanie Sheh also Banager is super cute and has a nice ass
Meilag32 Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 I'd say it's a classic style with a modern sensibility! No, it's definitely 80's style. Just done better since it's a new anime.
ben0119 Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 That looks like that mech from Aliens. FUCK was that a Haro?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Stephanie Sheh voiced girl... taking bets right now on whether her character is going to suck.
DangerMouse Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 oh hey she's voiced by Stephanie Sheh also he is super cute and has a nice ass Yup, she's voiced Stephanie Sheh.
CorbeauKarasu Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 Char's Rebellion. Bright Noa. Haro. and that girl...
Gyaos Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 I tuned out of this for a bit. I'm probably not going to be watching this regularly. Damn it. I want to get into the Gundam franchise, but I guess it's just not for me.
ben0119 Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 What was that, some medieval painting? I know I've seen it somewhere before.
DangerMouse Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 That looks like that mech from Aliens. FUCK was that a Haro?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Stephanie Sheh voiced girl... taking bets right now on whether her character is going to suck. Not gonna spoil that.
