well...the arrow moves all glitchy. it takes forever to load anything. the screen keeps changing sizes.

irritating shit that i'm sure can be fixed...if i knew how.

Step 1:

Run a virus/malware scan.

Step 2:

Clear your computer's cache.

Step 3:

Run Windows update.

Step 4:

Check update for all of your computer's drivers.

Step 5:

Perform defragment.

Step 6:

Restart.

weird thing. it updated as SOON as stilgar said that.

it's new, so' i'm not sure what i would have to defrag.

but this stupid thing keeps changing the size.

i do appreciate the advice.  those are thing i would do. but as i said this a new computer. and being a pain in the arse.

New computer?

Since it's a new Windows computer, you are going to have to give it time. It's going to perform some major time consuming updates and installs for a bit. Also, don't be alarm if you hear your hard drive screeching like a banshee. From my experience, new Windows computers do that within the first few weeks of operation.

It's Windows, so a great battle awaits you.

I'm still on Windows 7, but I am going to have to purchase a new computer come next year. This baby is showing signs of again (I have had her for seven years) and it's time to let her go.

So much history on this computer...DIRTY HISTORY. >.>

This has the download for the installation media creation tool and instructions on how to do it

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

ok. i haven't done this yet. because i thought the updates would sort themselves out and make the computer work properly.

i was wrong. oh...so wrong.

so, if i do a 'clean install' will it wipe out all the pics/vids/etc that i currently have?

The screen keeps changing sizes? By that do you mean your screen resolution is crapping out?

If you have windows seven and up you can try typing perfmon/report to test that all your pc omponents

are working propery. Since it's new you shouldn't have a failing graphics card or anything, but this check can

still be helpful as there could be an application or some wierd error causing  drivers etc to not do what they

are supposed to. Also run an antivirus/malware scan...There's also a bunch of built in file checkers you can run

that could diagnose the problem for you through command prompts.

Depends on how you do it. Everything *should* get put in a folder called windows.old and you should be able to just pull it out of there when it's done.

Whenever I do it I format the drive before I install, so if you do it that way there would be nothing left on there.

Did you run any of those checks I posted. Now that I know you have windows 10

you should just be able to type perfmon/report into the cortana search bar and click on..

Oh it;s just called performance monitor in windows 10 I guess. It should test that all your

pc compenents, drivers, and system files are doing what they need to..

All I'm trying to say is there's probably a system utility that can find the problem

or atleast provide some helpful hints. stuff like checksys...

hmm that wasn't what I thought it was then. I was trying to get you to run this.. without accidently scanning my computer.

Oh well. I might as well do it anyway. Uggh hold down your windows key+R then type perfmon/report, and it should

run a scan that will tell you if actual drivers are not working or sytstem files/applications are doing stupid stuff.

It's been a while since I've had to do any of this stuff sorry. I'm going to run it to try do activate some brain cells.  >:D

you could. I think a few others have already given you the full rundown on what you can do if it's

an update causing issues. So you're getting prompts to download the same update over and over?

I think I;ve had simular issues, and yeah sometimes all you can do is keep trying to run the update.

Only thing I could think of is maybe an important part of the update is  failing to install so it's

still giving you more update notices because your pc is detecting that that particular app or file

is not updated. If you check your update history and see that every part of the ipdate downloaded

and installed fine then I have no idea..
