So the best boxer of a generation and arguably of all time is going to fight in what is widely expected to be one of the most lucrative fights in history....against a man who has never fought in a boxing match

they took my money before I could say "take my money"  ;D

the fight finalized today and I know people who have already bet stacks of cash on Mayweather

Would have liked to see Mayweather in the ring once more against a top boxer but you can't argue with hype I guess  :| would be surprised if Mcgregor wins a round.

I've been rolling ever since this thing came about....we're gonna take a guy, basically the same size and age as Canelo Alvarez, but without any where near the same skill level, and say he has a chance because he's younger and bigger than Floyd  :-\  ;D

I guess they get a payday and we get some laughs....everybody walks away happy

Honestly if McGregor gets the W I'd have way more respect for the dude

deals with horned guys aside, that ain't happenin'

I don't think he cares though...he's laughing all the way to the bank with this one....this guy can talk himself into anything  ;D

Floyd loves money a little too much....coming out of retirement for this.

One thing I give McGregor credit for is his self promotion, dude knows how to keep his name in the papers.

I can't say I blame him....get 50-0 in a blockbuster last fight against a guy who's never boxed before....in his wildest dreams he never imagined this

That kids mouth is just as valuable as his left hand...he made a joke in his UFC debut that he would come to America, rob the place and be back in Ireland before anyone knew what happened...seems prophetic now

But he's only gonna be jabbing and running, no take downs kicks grappling

You know what McGregor in 6

You don't want to underestimate what Mayweather's pressure is going to do to him...superior fighters have a way of sapping your energy and it's not like he's known for good cardio in any prolonged affair...

plus he's not going to be running, he has to go head first into the lions den if he wants to stand a chance in this thing....he's not winning by points...how long can he remain switched on against the wizardry that is mayweather's counters

Mayweather has a type of boxing that works for him, he works the rounds and tires out his opponents.  To me it's boring but hey... i'm not the dude that's made millions boxing so more power to him.

McGregor and Diaz were both tanked in the 4th and 5th round in their last fight.  That being said maybe he'll take a different approach knowing the only way of attack is via punches.  Anyone know the Vegas odds on this fight?

If they're good enough I'll drop a grand on McGregor I believe in the scrappy underdog

I saw this today and I feel it was my post a few days ago about my hatred of this cat that put this little unicorn poop with sprinkles on my plate.  Like my day just became so much better......The sky opened up and god himself kissed me square on my lips and slipped a pinkie in.  My FB feed is full of people trying to factor Mayweathers age when really that's all experience.  I'm not even sure McGregor will have the restraint not to try a kick when he finds out his hands game is bush league in a boxing ring.

No doubt, Conan is gonna leave with a fucking airline carrier full of cash on this one.....I can't knock that, but unless Mayweather is fighting in handcuffs, this is gonna be the balls dipped in warm caramel that I deserve.

You know I'm just joking around dude this is gonna be a ridiculous fight/circus, of course I know mayweather won't be challenged  but people are gonna be like nah he's gonna get knocked out, pure boxing Floyd will school him

Of course theres always that chance on big hit by Mcgregor could hit home but Floyd is too good at running away, i mean evading  :|;)

Boring or not Mayweather doesn't just run and tire guys out, he has the reflexes of a cat and he can maneuver his defensive shell to where he's only taking punches off his arms and gloves while he's landing flush shots on his opponent all night, it takes the wind out of your sails as a fighter when you're only hitting an arm or glove or worse yet air, nothing more tiring for a boxer than swinging at the air in a fight, McGregor will experience frustration like he never has before.

oh I know you're kidding....I just don't get a lotta chances to talk about fights these days so I go in  :fap:

What's funny is, even the "one big shot" scenario isn't what people think it'll be...but watevs

Yeah dude atleast the promotion events and weigh in will be entertaining even the walk outs to the ring because  the fight sure won't, the real fight is 3 weeks after when canelo and triple g take the stage

I think it'll be hilarious....specially since i'm gonna be wreckt  :barf:

Mcgregor's already messing with him online...he keeps replacing Mayweather's pics with his father in the head to head posts

Out of sheer curiosity, I went and checked the ticket prices. Sweet Jesus, those prices are insanity incarnate.

I wouldn't want to be anywhere near there....there are going to be tons of unsanctioned fights that weekend....it's gonna be nuts

It's funny, because I hear a lot of people saying shit like, "McGregor is gonna get knocked the fuck out!" But I really don't see that happening. Mayweather isn't really a KO fighter, though his number is respectable, I guess.

I think Mayweather is going to win, but I think the fight is gonna be a lot more competitive than people think it's gonna be.

There's a lot I could say about why it won't be competitive and why Mcgregor will be lucky not to get knocked out, but who cares...let's just watch and laugh

I could see him taking a knee in later rounds when he's too winded to keep going. That's how I see it ending.

Getting actually laid out? I don't see that.

yet you see the competitiveness in 49 - 0 going against 0 - 0

I'm not an optometrist, but I think your vision's off  :L

I'm just saying, man. It's not like he's fighting me, or you, or Larry down the street. Conor is a professional fighter. He can take punches.

I'm not saying it's gonna be a classic, I'm just saying it's not gonna be a 20-second squash.  :P

I actually hope his chin is what I hope it is........I wanna see him get skullfucked for several rounds.

Taking punches isn't what you think it is and as far as professional fighters go, there's a spectrum...a wide one

He may not get knocked out in 20 seconds, but it's unlikely he sees the whole 12 rounds....be lucky to see 6

guy was rocked by an out of shape Nate Diaz (who has middling level boxing and isn't even ranked in the top 10)

Just a reminder, Conor is the same size as Canelo without the benefit of 50 boxing matches worth of expertise

Makes Conan seem like a Martyr........Well played, preemptively sells the narrative that he and Dana knows this is going to go bad but they are willing to make this sacrifice for the UFC as a whole.  Which the article is right, boxing is slowly dying and this probably won't hurt the UFC too much.....Definitely not MMA as a whole, but I like to think Dana hates McGregor as much as I do and wants to SHTFU.

I'm perplexed, quite honestly. Why Dana White and Conor McGregor would agree to a boxing match is beyond me. I typically root for Irish MMA fighters since Ireland is my ancestral homeland, but Conor's antics have turned me off quite a bit.

Now I've never been a big fan of Mayweather either, but he's considered one of the all-time greats for a reason. I mean look at his 50-0 record! The only person I can think of in any weight class that has retired on top like Mayweather has is heavyweight legend Rocky Marciano, whose record's eerily similar at 49-0, with 43 wins by way of knockout.

I'd love to see an evenly-matched fight. Unfortunately, that just ain't gonna happen. McGregor's gonna get destroyed by Money.

The article touches on many good points, but it doesn't give Mcgregor the credit he deserves...Sure the UFC is now going to ride this train, but it's Mcgregor that got it on the tracks...The amount of leverage he has with the UFC and how he's been using it isn't given as much shine outside MMA media...

Yeah, he's gonna get throttled....but that paycheck though

he might not fight again

I think I answered my own unasked question at the end of my post, to be honest. lol I was also hoping someone would've caught the pun I made there, too. Floyd Mayweather's nickname in the ring is "Money"

That's not going to happen, he'd be pretty heavily penalized for that, doubt he wants to risk his precious millions.

Wait, wut?

EDIT, oh wait....You mean you think he might throw a knee?

Yeah, I said that too but I said kick......Like I can see him instinctively try one of these as blows rain down upon him
