I don’t see the need for it. The idea was to give struggling and small market teams the opportunity to compete. In every other sport, it is critical to parity but in the NFL it just ends up filtering talent to the same teams.

Tom Brady is a terrible example. He went in a low round with a lot of other football players that weren’t deemed to have enough character. It just proves the prognosticators don’t actually know.

The draft only ends up in disappointment for the vast majority of teams and players. Teams that are shitty enough to be at the top of the draft inevitably fail to develop those players. Those players, in turn, might get slightly more than their lower counterparts for their rookie contracts, but the absence of any real development means they wash out in a few years. The players that are in the draft that are most likely to succeed are announced on the ESPN ticker a day or so after the first round.

The thing is... dogs of any medium to large breed can not only be violent, but potentially kill a human. If you end up watching Cesar Milan's shows (and can stand his periodic pontification), it's a little easier to see how human behavior has a fairly generic effect on dogs across all breeds. Pitbulls (constituted of a few similar breeds) get most of their bad reputation from the fact they were often used by illegal dog fighters and their tenacity in the ring was glorified by elements of street culture.

Pits are a heavily misunderstood class of dog, which is both why so many are abandoned and why it's so hard to rehome them.

It's a pain, but have you found any rescues that work specifically with pits and pit-mixes? You might want to ask the local shelter if they know of any. I just Googled this: https://www.pbrc.net/rescue-organizations.html. It might help.
